100% down to Rodgers. Two vital points thrown away. Why did he take off KDH? and why didn't he use his subs when he admitted the players were fatigued? Unbelievable! Surrendered the midfield and let Brentford back into the game. Now we play Arsenal and Chelsea so we'll start off the season in a relegation battle and, as a result, the negativity around the club will ramp up. Rodgers has lost the plot. Awful game management, awful man management. Time for Top to pull the trigger!
-
No wingers so you attack with wing backs. Come on lads, a win here will get the media doomsayers off our backs, at least for a week or so!. Let's get behind the boys and put these to the sword!
-
Madders. Make him captain and offer him a lucrative extended contract. Rebuild the team around him. He is what the Americans call a 'franchise' player.
-
Tielemans is a quality player who is capable of making defence splitting passes that most others can't. There is no evidence to suggest that he is no longer on good terms with either Rodgers or the club. I hope that the club can come to an arrangement with Youri that is in the best interests of Leicester City and the player himself. In the meantime Rodgers will play him on merit. Contrary to what a lot of fans seem to think, I believe Your's downturn in form last season was not due to a lack of application or disillusionment with the club, but rather down to the fact that Rodgers massively overplayed him. This season, hopefully with a fully fit squad at his disposal, Rodgers will be able to do a much better job of managing his player resources in order to get the most, not just out of Youri if he stays, but out of many other members of the squad too.

I fear Rodgers was playing games with his announcement that a major squad refresh was needed. As others have pointed out, this provides him with an excuse if we start poorly after a transfer window with little movement. I also agree with those who suggest we already have a strong squad. We were good enough to finish 8th after a season with catastrophic injury problems and a heavy fixture schedule. For me a couple of key signings (right wing, defensive cover) and unloading some dead wood will be enough. The key will be if Rodgers can make more of the talent he has at his disposal. He needs to stop trying to put square pegs into round holes (Madders, Perez - played out wide -,Kels, Daka - deployed as lone strikers -), over playing certain players (Tielemans) and freezing out quality players like Mendy and Praet. He also needs to sort out our woeful record of defending set pieces and self destructive habit of throwing away leads late in games. For me the spotlight falls squarely on Rodgers himself as he will be key in determining how we perform this season. It's time for him to stop shooting his mouth off to manipulate the narrative and get his squad to do his talking with their on-field performances.

Just watched the 'highlights' - can't waste 90 minutes watching Southgate's England. One goal (penalty) in 3 games and, according to the pundits we lack creativity. How is Madders not in the squad ? Is Southgate just stubborn, clueless or both? And did I hear that Mount hasn't scored in 13 games for England? Madness!
-
True, France were different class, but unfortunately we never got to test ourselves against them as Southgate's gutless, negative tactics snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Croatia. Same thing happened against Italy. Chances to win the biggest prizes in world football don't come along very often and Southgate failed to take advantage twice. He's a perennial loser!
-
And the luckiest! What has the guy won in his entire managerial career? Perennial loser! Wears a nice waistcoat and doffs his cap to the establishment. Perfect man for the England job!
-
It's almost as if Southgate doesn't want to give Maddison a chance because he's scared he'll prove him wrong! Leaving him out despite the fact that he has stated he picks players on form is bollocks! No matter what he does Maddison has no chance with Southgate in charge. However, after we walk through our weak WC qualifying group the perennial loser will be found out once again once England come up against a quality side and then it will be time for a change. Resist the temptation to become a bench warmer like Grealish at Man City and focus on being superb for the Foxes Madders and your time will come.
-
Pleased for Justin, but absolutely gutted for Madders. Southgate must really hate him. Hope this doesn't lead to him moving to one of the 'rich six' as he'd walk into the England squad if playing for one of them.
-
Tonight is a free play for us. Rodgers is nothing if not calculating. He knows that if we beat Southampton on Sunday and at least manage to avoid a real drubbing tonight we have every chance of finishing 8th. That will look a lot better on his resume than 14th!
-
A top coach needs to be able to maximize and then utilize the individual strengths of every player in the squad. Buying players and then trying to mold them into something they're not, is like trying to fit square pegs into round holes. That is poor recruitment and poor coaching as it undermines confidence and destroys the balance of the team.
-
Fair play. Hopefully your well-argued defence of Brendan in this regard explains our down turn in performance this year and not his tactics, team selections, formations or squad rotations, otherwise we could be in serious trouble if this trend continues into next season.
-
The likes of Vardy, Schmeichel, Albrighton and Evans are all past their prime and inevitably their performance levels will begin to decline, but there are many core members of our squad who are young enough to have not yet reached their peak in terms of performance, the likes of Maddison, KDH, Barnes, Ndidi, Justin, Fofana, Thomas, Barnes, Daka, Soumare, Iheanacho. Most of these players, with a couple of notable exceptions, have clearly regressed and or failed to realize their potential this season, and this is reflected in our results. While the coach cannot reverse the realities of the aging process, he must be held accountable for the development of those players with room to grow. In fact, I thought that was Rodgers' M.O. He clearly has some serious questions to answer in this regard.
-
Finally it seems even the most ,'blarney blind' Rodgers apologists are beginning to see the light. I hope Top is prepared to cut his losses and remove Rodgers before he allows him to waste what funds we do have available to add to our core of young, talented players. Failure to act sooner rather than later could lead to a relegation battle next season which we would be ill-equipped to fight.
-
Massive close season coming up.I do however believe that we have a squad with real potential on which to build. Some radical trimming is clearly required. Firstly I'd raise significant funds by cashing in on Tielemans and Soyuncu and moving on a number of players that clearly aren't good enough: Vestegaard, Bertrand, Hamza. I also think it's time to move on from Kasper and Albrighton and Jamie, legend though he is, I'm afraid will only be a bit part player next season. But we still have plenty of real quality and youth to build upon: Maddison, Ndidi. KDH, Wes, Justin, Ricardo, Castagne, Evans for starters. And then there's Daka, Soumare, Praet, Lookman, Kelechi and even Mendi who have not been given a fair chance by Rodgers because of his one dimensional tactics and apparent determination to force square pegs into round holes. Then there's Barnes and Thomas, the former horribly short of confidence and out of form but surely he can be turned around. If we add a goalkeeper who can command his area, a goal scoring right winger, a creative and combative midfielder, another experienced defender and give some of our talented youth players an opportunity in what is left of this season, then I think the future looks bright. However, key to this vital overhaul to breathe new life into our tired squad will be moving Rodgers on. He has failed to get the most out of many of the players he has had at his disposal this season and I don't think he can be trusted to identify and add the players we need (30 million for Perez who he's rarely utilized in order to play to his strengths is perhaps the most damning indictment). He's had a good run and the FA Cup triumph will live long in the memory but it's time for him to go.
-
Agreed, He's also a very skillful manipulator of the narrative to deflect blame away from himself. I hope Top sees through the blarney sooner rather than later, as I wouldn't trust Rodgers to rebuild my kids LEGO tower let alone overhaul our first team squad.
-
This. I was dumbfounded when I saw this mismatch at the previous corner. It was an invitation for them to score a gift goal and they gratefully accepted the invitation. A high school soccer coach wouldn't have allowed that. Beyond belief!
-
How anyone who's witnessed our decline under Rodgers over the hast 18 months, watched his inability to fix recurring problems and listened to his pathetic excuses didn't see this result coming I've no idea. How this fraud, remember he has form at other clubs, can be viewed as the right man to take our ambitious club forward is beyond me. Please Top, put us all out of our misery and pull the trigger in order to change the trajectory of our wonderful club.
-
True, but they did what they needed to do. We failed to ask any serious questions of a very ordinary Roma team. Shocking! Particularly given our return to the European stage may be a very long time coming.
-
Sad to say I think we all knew how this was going to end before a ball was kicked. A monkey could have played in goal for them and they'd still have won. This was a European semi-final and we couldn't muster a decent attempt on goal in the match! Yes the ref was awful and Roma are masters of the dark arts but that's what you expect when you play away in Europe. Rodgers' time's up surely.
-
Feels like we could play for another week and not score. Rodgers has sucked all the attacking belief out of this team. His time is up.Time for a change.
-
Roma masters of the dark arts and awful refereeing aside, if Rodgers doesn't take off the shackles and have a go second half his time's up for me.
-
Win our games against Everton (h) Norwich (h) Watford (a) and Southampton (h) and an 8th placed finish is ours. Wolves remaining games are against Chelsea (a) Man City (h) Norwich (h) and Liverpool (a). And that's assuming we lose at Spurs and Chelsea. What could possibly go wrong?
-
Massive equalizer! Both teams have to go out to win it now. That helps us in two ways: Mourinho has to be positive, which will open up opportunities for us going forward, and we can't sit back as we would have done if we'd had a slender lead. Any inferiority we might have felt playing against the 'mighty' Roma should have evaporated - we were by far the better team!
