  1. Remember a chap by the name of bob mackay(?) back around 1969. Regular for the reserves, made his first team debut in 3 rd round of cup ,vs Burnley away I think. Got injured and that was end of his career. Lived next door to my grandparents on Coleman road
  2. Think there may be an element of protecting young Fatawu here. Remember how the Neanderthals at the den did a job on Chilwell. Scared the poor lad to death.
  3. Notice his absence recently too and was wondering if he is ok. It will be a poorer place without him if he is no longer with us
  4. Never! i ain't hearing no fat lady yet. I think if we get promoted he will be offered, and accept, a reduced salary package for one final crack at the 200
  5. Looking at it again, i think sky action is one of the main package channels, so should be available on a full day pass, whereas the bonus streams (red button) are not but don't take my word for it
  6. Have a feeling this game is going to get very messy. lots of niggly little fouls disrupting the flow, timewasting and all the usual tricks trying to get our players carded. Outward hostility and brain dead racist/homophobic/tragedy chanting from their fans. Quite possibly a few missiles thrown from the crowd at our players/fans too. Don't know who the ref is for this one one but they need to be strong from the outset and keep a lid on things. If ever a game needed the old heads, its this one. Despite all the above, a positive start and an early goal will quieten the crowd, who hopefully will turn on their own. If we can do that then i think we will win it comfortably, if not, then it could be a battle.
  7. if its red button, then it only works on a monthly pass i believe
  8. Whilst I totally agree that we should have gotten CL the two years we finished 5th due to Man City not getting punished, it is not much of a defence re fair treatment of clubs by the PL as it was UEFA who failed to enforce the ban (on a legal technicality) not the EPL
  9. @RumbleFox wondered where you had got to of late.good for you making a stance but nice to see you back, always found your posts balanced and intelligent unlike so many on here
  10. Big win please. GD could be crucial
  11. That only works if a player is in last year of contract. If say there is two years left, amortised as £5m each year, sell for £2m, then the loss in the year of the sale is £8m, as opposed to £5m each year for 2 years. In other words, to reduce the actual loss in the year of sale you would need to sell for at least £6m to reduce the loss by £1m. Yes you make a saving against second year (plus wages) but that does not help in respect of psr for the year of sale, it makes it worse.
  12. Ok, so we can still sell, but it is still an open invitation for other clubs to lowball us. The only way we would be able to keep a half decent squad would be to get those players out of contract to sign new, reduced deals before the end of June then as they would already be registered at the club. Not much chance of that though with agents in their ears with big fat signing on fees
  13. I presume that a transfer embargo would be both ways, not just incomings. If so, is this a ploy to ensure that we cannot sell anyone after June 30 and, by default are stuck with unwanted, or unsold players wages and therefore almost guaranteed to breach elf psr the following season too if we don’t get promoted. all this will do is mean that other clubs can lowball us for those we need to get off the wage bill. In other words, sell in June, make a loss in this year and get points deducted, or keep on high wages and make a loss next year and get more points deducted. get promoted, and have points deducted in the PL and get relegated, where the EFL will be waiting for us with another points deduction. it all adds up to a massive stitch up. “We don’t want any more Leicester city’s”. I hope we go all guns blazing, fight them through every means possible and show the corruption for what it really is. We may well have broken the rules, but only in an attempt to be competitive, within the means of the club and its owners (no chance of going bust, which is what the rules purportedly are there to prevent) but this really is started to stink of a witch hunt. Time to stick it to the man.
  14. Haha. Keith Weller special
  15. With the ridiculous wages demanded these days, which are artificially inflated by what the big six will pay, there is absolutely no chance of the league ever being truly competitive again. One poor season or two, where you do not qualify for a European place and you are screwed by ffp the following year. An overall fixed squad salary cap is the only way this will ever be resolved
  16. I would start with Stol hamza coady vesty doyle Winks wilf. Kdh Albrighton. Wanya Nacho Yunus, cannon, Fatawu, and mavs for wilf, Marc, nacho and wanya for last 30 (plus et if req). would rather see wilf start, get some decent minutes. If he comes on second half could end up playing more than intended if it goes to et. think is a game, if we are serious about it, where Enzo needs to be on it with his in game management and subs, especially if it’s tight and possibility of extra time. still want us to go strong and give it a real go. Can’t be doing with all this cr*p about resting or not risking players for the league. It’s a QF ffs, a win here is worth £2m in appearance and gate receipts for the semi. Those saying the cup will be there next year etc always seems to find a reason for to dismiss it. Beside we could draw Man City away in the 3rd round for the next god knows how many years. A cup run is always good
  17. When the super league happens, the greedy six will simply set up A and B teams to compete in both SL and domestic competitions. One will then serve as a feeder for the other. If this happens, Any transfer of players between squads, must have a fee attached based on market value established by tribunal. Both squads must have separate accounting verified for ffp
  18. When the dust settles and it’s revealed that half the PL have failed to meet the psr targets, there will be a sudden u-turn with them declaring that those targets have been adjusted to allow for inflation and that going forward the rules will be changed. the authorities are going to need to save face somehow or they will look pretty stupid when so many clubs start the season on negative points and the whole competitiveness of the league is brought into disrepute and questions start being asked about restrictions on trade, monopolies and cartels. can the clubs petition for a vote of no confidence in the league? What would happen if say six clubs tendered their resignations from the PL and applied to join the EFL (obviously never going to happen but would be fun to see the meltdown)
  19. At the start of each season people keep saying that Vardy is past it, finished etc. Then tell us we need to find a twenty goal a season striker, who are not that easy to come by and cost a fortune, yet we already have one. His name? Jamie Richard Vardy.
  20. Winning this game is worth around £2m. 450k for qf winners, losing semi finalists get 500k (£1m for winners) plus a share of Wembley gate receipts and TV money Could make a huge difference come june
  21. I have a suspicion that several clubs gave early warnings of possible breaches to the PL hence their willingness to reduce Everton’s sanction, otherwise the bar would be set at 10pts and half the league would be starting at -10. If it transpires that half a dozen clubs get points deducted there will be a class action against the league from those clubs that the rules are not fit for purpose and govt will be forced to step in
  22. Exactly. In the PL, you have to pay the wages to try and attract decent players and compete. If it goes pear shaped like it did for us and you get relegated, you are screwed. either you have to have a fire sale to get the high earners off the books, thereby making a book loss on those players transfer fees or, you are stuck with a high wage bill, even after relegation clauses, with massively reduced tv and sponsorship income. Either way you are almost bound to breach the lower threshold for elf, and even if you get promoted at the first go, those book losses on sales will bite you in the bum under pl rules. the only way I can see this being resolved is for an amnesty to be declared and a full reset of the rules
  23. Said it earlier, Sky have an agenda against us and always favour the top clubs. I get it that they can argue that is where the biggest overseas interest etc is, and they want to maximise their ad revenue etc. The TV deal should be structured that all teams receive equal income regardless of no of appearances, or better still guaranteed equal air time thereby reducing exposure bias and creating a more equal playing field for sponsors etc.
  24. So KP sell up to another billionaire who isn’t allowed to actually invest any cash into the team either due to the current, unsustainable rules. Where’s the difference, except that said new owners turn out to be asset strippers who fold the club, sell off the training ground, belvoir drive and the stadium to developers and do a runner with all the proceeds. Everyone seems to be piling onto the ownership, saying its their fault that we may have breached ffp etc, but what are they supposed to do when players refuse to move on, see out contracts or deals fall through at the last minute because a player at the buying club decides to stay put (Daka Bournemouth)
