We've backed ourselves into a corner timewise AND these purchases are our gamble/chance to stay up. The current outfit will struggle A LOT.
-
Anybody, coz having been to both games so far that side has no to very few goals in it. I don't understand why they won't gamble on staying up. We need a striker no doubt & at least a creative/attacking midfielder. We HAVE to have some quality go forward. Worried...... Why are we just so inept at this and when we do get them in we pay way over the odds and pay THEM way over the odds so we can't get rid of them, the list is too long to show but the latest iteration is our "sprinting" friend Soumare.

Surely PressED?? He's 32, might those stats be deteriorating?? -
Funny how we used to get it so right before Brighton e.g. Morgan, Huth, Kante, Fuchs, Mahrez, Vardy etc. over 3-5 years and since about 2018 we have got it primarily wrong and repeatedly and some real big howlers, the Southampton defenders, Soumare, even Cannon has seen no game time (not masses of money BUT a waste) Ayew is worth £4-6m AND Skipp £12-£15m. How did we get to £20m+ & £8m, muppets.

Who do you want for next season in the PL
The boy Linacre replied to Fightforever's topic in Transfer Talk
Anybody in the next 9 days -
There is something amiss about his absence, last night was crying out for him to come on for his football sense, nous and just better quality of passing, last 20 when we got the ball we needed to keep it and use it better, Mavididi & McAteer did a shift but Riccy or Hamza would have been a better bet than Soumare. Hope I have read too much into it.

Leicester 1- 1 Tottenham Post Match Thread

They have something to work with & build on & maybe some team spirit & a character they can work from. Hope is in the house!!!! -
Mavididi & McAteer worked their proverbials off. Soumare was an embarrassment to himself. AND if Cooper ever picks him again unless he’s still here for Tranmere, he knows nothing about Football either!!!!
-
I'm an unhappy fan about him because he made the last 24 months about HIM - BUT....... We won the FA CUP Finished 5th twice Played in Europe and reached the ECL Semi against Roma, he just cocked the last season up BUT "The management" shouldn't have panicked when newspaper talk said Arsenal were interested in him early on and jacked him up to £8m/py & they should have sacked him BEFORE that international window so they could get a new manager in, the Bournemouth & Villa defeats were integral to us going down.
-
Do we think he's signing?? Don't understand what the club are up to, we need bodies & quickly, even Cooper is making noises that he and the team need new players in. It seems the regime just can't get the club back on an even keel. "A welcome return to the Premier League for a club that sleepwalked into the Championship in 2023" according to the BBC today, but thats down to Top, Whelan & Rudkin and Rogers somewhat, yes he was poor & childish but he didn't get the players he wanted, but then they should have sacked him earlier. God know what those 1st 3 have done financially, but that is a shot in the foot, they had to get rid of one of the best players to fix some of it and NOW they are fannying about deciding whether they want to become a yoyo club or give us a very good chance of staying up by bringing some new/better blood in. Close the Hlosek deal (LTB is good business), get Ayew in as extra cover if they can engineer £4m, don't pay the earth in wages, gamble on Zaha as midfield/winger cover/alternative and maybe the Greek striker again on a LTB and we have a squad and a chance.

Paris Olympic Games 2024
The boy Linacre replied to EastAnglianFox's topic in General Football and Sport
Think that encapsulates the Olympics, stuff we just wouldn't or couldn't watch on Eurosport or TNT (Sky's just Football, Cricket, Darts & RL etc.) But some of these events are just brilliant to watch. The Canoe cross, absolute madness but brilliant AND I'm sorry every single one of them is the opportunity to get Daleys' "big G boys". Look at how happy the GB quartet was in the track mixed 4 x 400m relay & the effort & run that Bol made at the end. Imagine her mindset now in the 400MH, she already has one gold. Just absolutely love it all, and a cheery uplifting reflection on humanity during the current sad issues on the streets of the UK. -

Since her injuries at the last Olympics she hasn't been on the upward trajectory she always had, also just seems way more unhappy about the current output of her career, she was right up there in the 200m and at least always a finalist in the 100m. It ALWAYS about the times, and I don't think she has gone sub 22.2 this year, all medallists will be sub 22, so don't think Neita will get there either. Dina might find something BUT none of the runs in Paris have pointed to that. Its a shame, as she'll be on the downward run in LA if she gets that far at 32. -

Paris Olympic Games 2024

I blew some of the kids inheritance this weekend in the excitement for a couple of events on the last weekend. Does anybody know the best approach in tickets for the metro? Do you get travel included with your ticket, do you have to buy them separately, cheapest deal etc? Any intel gratefully accepted. -

Can't wait, Proper Sport, people that have trained all their lives, mornings before we get up, evenings after we are asleep, pushing themselves so hard they are physically ill (seen it at Loughboro Uni back in the day) for one fleeting moment of often unpaid glory. That moment where we'll see a little of sports we have never seen before and probably won't see for another 4 years. Should GB get to 70 medals lots, of smiley face feel good adrenaline, excitement (Athletics is going to be amazing) & joy. In front of spectators for the 1st time in 8 years. With personal stories & journeys aplenty, during a great summer of sport. BRING IT ON!!! Congrats to those that have tickets to any events, enjoy (very jealous). Yes these days the sheen is somewhat taken off it by the IOC standardisation & commercialisation & country athlete sponsorship. But in that moment when those 10,500 competitors are battling to be on the podium, to be the fastest, the highest, the strongest, lets really enjoy watching it. -
The one thing we had to learn from when we went down, was overpaying on salaries. One player won't be the difference to keep us up. Stupid salaries = Betrand, Vestegaard v1.0, Soumare, Slimani, Ward etc. Can't get rid when we realise they're rubbish.

The money's there, the hangers on are there -
yep, no doubt about it, If the Soule chase is really true (though he is untested in the Prem, stats are good, BUT.....a bit of a Soumare risk here) they are prepared to spend to finish at least 17th, no doubt about it, better to be in "the club" than out.

I want to see an academy player in the first team
The boy Linacre replied to majaco's topic in Leicester City Forum
I saw him at home against Birmingham & he was awful, I then saw him away at Bournemouth & he got better & better as the game went on and then I don't think he played another minute last season afterwards and wasn't even on the bench for the last 5 games, he's already 21, what hope do they have? Nelson really looks a player and then we go and buy additional centre backs, manager churn always means new players in, e.g. Okoli -
Good
