  1. I don't believe wages would be a significant problem with Tarkowski, what concerns me more is what I see as being his lack of speed and mobility
  2. 9th September, 1961 - won 2 - 0 against Everton. Funnily enough I have clearer memories of my second match sometime later. That was a 3 - 0 win against Cardiff City with the first goal scored in the 7th minute by Colin Appleton, what I thought at the time was a misplaced cross from the left wing. Cardiff had two disallowed for offside I think.
  3. I wouldn't bet on it, I really wouldn't.
  4. I've done my time as a Director of a non league football club and found that at that level, the only way to judge a manager's performance was to assess whether he was getting the best out of the team of players at his disposal. Even at that level, other considerations like player fitness or recruitment largely had to be left to others either better qualified or better able to make the necessary judgements - always making sure though that your manager listens to the advice he's being given
  5. Unusually for me, I've completed one to. Must admit I found the last but one question particully challenging, several possibles coming to mind.
  6. Thats the one - 09 Sept 1961. I wish I could say that it all comes back to me like it was yesterday, but it doesn't really. I remember the result, the noise of the crowd and Jimmy Walsh signing my programme. Albert Dunlop too as I said. Thank you very much for looking that up for me, very much appreciated
  7. First posting, hello everyone. Having lived and worked in Saudi Arabia intermittently since the early 1980s, the one aspect of this business that I can't resist commenting upon is the suggestion that the Saudi Investment Authority is in some way an entirely separate entity and independent of the Saudi Government. In reality, you could argue that there is no such thing as the 'Saudi Government' in the usual sense of the term, simply a large and extended ruling family who between them control every aspect of life in the Kingdom. The Investment Authority and the various Saudi ministries merely being different meetings attended largely by the same group of people selected by the Crown Prince from amongst the ruling family. The Premier League of course will understand that but hey, let's all play let's pretend...... On a happier note I was thinking back to the first City game I ever attended. That was back in the early 1960 and a match between City and Everton which Leicester won 2 - 0. Can't remember who scored but I do remember that the Everton goalkeeper - Albert Dunlop - had a brilliant game. Does anyone happen to know when that was? Thanks, good to be here.
