This is what a friend who is a ST holder at St Mary’s said to describe their performance on Saturday - “We were dreadful on Saturday but have started picking up clean sheets, and it helps that we’ve gone back to basics and been playing 442 recently.” Depressing how it wasn’t long ago, that Southampton were marooned at the bottom half of the table but they’ve easily leapfrogged us in the league.

Re-watch the goal back, whilst he isn’t helped out by the lack of movement, a player of Ricky P’s standards shouldn’t be having his pockets picked like that. If there is nothing on, just hit a first time diagonal….the passing lane wasn’t blocked for that.

If Thomas makes such an obvious mistake, his thread would have had an additional 5 pages by now. I can’t say that I agree with this. He was bombed out of their squad in pre-season. Southampton fans are genuinely pissing themselves at someone taking him off their hands.

That isn’t something that we should be excited about. 32 year olds without injury issues, are typically on the decline from a physical perspective, that’s not even taking into account his recent injuries. When a player has relied on their pace/athleticism, it makes me very nervous how they adapt in their latter years.

It’s such a boys club isn’t it? I’ve played for more professional Sunday league teams. Kingy said about the stats re: sprints/distance covered etc, yet serves up the same.
