It is obviously a difficult one and other teams will have the same struggles. However, we were an attractive proposition and I’d like to think we could have taken a tougher stance. Maybe rather than comparing them with our long servers who’d earned their increases, we should have been looking at would they receive what we were offering elsewhere. That was obviously not the case as we would putting them on massively high starting wages. As a new signing into the club, there is a balance to be had and they should understand they have to earn the increases as there is no guarantee they are a success as with Daka and Soumare. If they weren’t accepting what they should have been worth, we should have been stronger and moved to other targets. You cannot deny it has hamstrung us. Obviously high wages through contract extensions has been a huge issue also.

Perhaps the obscene wages? They were both young players who had succeeded in Europe. There would have been plenty of takers for them (such as Sevilla for Soumare last season). The reason people are annoyed is that we cannot shift these players when they don’t work and make our money on the transfer fee back or at least profit in PSR terms based on their book value left. And that is the wages being handed out.

I mean yeah, maybe he won’t do much and this will turn out to be maximum value received and maybe we’ll end up with a good striker in the Championship next season and the sale will be justified. As of now, the justification for selling this month by many, rather than at least see now the season played out, was ‘we can reinvest in the window to stay up’, is holding less weight!

There is an interesting passage on the article about Sheffield United’s transfer business yesterday. Can you imagine us changing our method to recruit smarter? Nigerian winger Nwachukwu, 19, arrives from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv, while 22-year-old Peruvian Caceres joins from FBC Melgar in his homeland, with both signings the product of the club's new data driven transfer strategy. "With the collaborative way we work with regards signings, the options available to the club under the new ownership allows us to cast our net further afield," Wilder added, external. "I've spoken previously about how we are looking to be more data driven with some of our targets, and we have explored the use of this to find players which were previously not on our radar. "Jefferson has been identified using this strategy, he's a young lad who we're keen to develop."

Some people still just don’t get it. It’s not about a bad period. A bad period was 2004-2008 culminating in relegation to League 1. However, even then, we just had limited resources following administration and relegation but we couldn’t be accused on not trying as a club. We just needed to go back to come forwards. This is completely self inflicted. We had the highest starting point in the clubs history. Yes PSR might be fixed to stop clubs like us challenging at the top permanently but it doesn’t make us spend on shit and get relegated. That is because the club is run as badly as it ever has been (possibly the period around Peter Taylor and administration as well). It’s the lack of positive indication for the future. Great for you if you think we can just rock up and win the Championship against next season just because we are Leicester. Those of us who are realistic, can see where this is going.

Ipswich and Southampton will be in better positions than us. Plus 2 of Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland (assuming Leeds are going up). It will be a long shot for us to get autos, playoffs will be the aim.
-
What makes them have more potential? Both are run by clueless Thai’s but they have nothing to suggest more potential if both ended up being run sensibly.
-
I mean Coady offers nothing. So so uninspired but he actually probably would offer more than Coady still. Please not with Vestergard though! And obviously knowing us it is likely to be a financial howler of a deal…
-
And that is appreciated by everyone. But the past is not the present or future. How far are Top and co allowed to let the club fall because of achievements that happened before? Can you name anything that is well ran about the club now? Without mentioning the past but now. And what positive indicators there are for the future?
-
Because even then we were giving out stupid contracts and had a crazy wages to turnover ratio.
-
It seems extreme and negative to say but no. I really can’t think of one despite trying. Even the KPFC lot only seem to be able to point to past glories. In the current day, not one single thing about or area of the club is a positive.
-
Don’t get me wrong, none of them were what we needed. Ayew and Reid have contributed a few moments but recruitment should have been better. Skipp though has shown to be very good at Championship level and I think Okoli would be if he stayed. Obviously doesn’t excuse why we brought them in at this level. My main concern is mentality and professionalism. Oh and the wages we are paying them.
-
No no no. Remember it’s the bestest way and you can’t win football matches any other way

All great consolations for us as we go down for the second time in 3 seasons I’m sure 🙄 And they are still in the Champions League so you might be going a bit early on that…. What they did manage to do was have the stones to actually see the job through and finish in the top 4 rather than bottling it twice.

I put yes but to be honest, that just means yes for next season. I don’t see the point changing again now. The season is done. We need to sort things behind the scenes and line up ideally Danny Rohl for next season. I’m also intrigued by Wellens as an option given his trajectory. So leave RVN for the season unless the right option for the Championship next season is available to start earlier. Definitely no to RVN next season.

I understand what you are saying and in many cases I’d agree. You still seem to be missing the point that everyone is making that it is not about losing or expecting to win much more. It is about what is happening in the club more widely and the manner in which we lose. Do you think 0-3 at home to Wolves or 4-0 yesterday and the manner of the goals conceded yesterday should just be shrugged off and ‘are to be expected’? As for booing. You talk about plain facts. Plain fact 1. The players are paid eye watering amounts to put in zero effort and put in embarrassing displays like yesterday whilst fans pay hard earned money to travel up and down the country to support them. Plain fact 2. The players can directly affect what happens on the pitch. Fans can’t. Yes we can support them but even when we do, they still show nothing. Whilst it is a two way street, the balance of power to affect what is happening on the pitch sits with the players and manager, not the fans. Those factors taken into account, I would say it is not unreasonable to suggest the onus sits with the players to change the dynamic and not just slink off down the tunnel due to getting some deserved criticism.

Hamza Choudhury loan to Sheff Utd - Official
LCFCJohn replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
He’s a good player at Championship level. Yes we pay him too much and he’s had off the pitch issues but in his merits as a footballer at that level, he’s good when used correctly. Problem is we think we are above using players of his style that do the dirty work which is why we have ended up with such a soft group of players for years now. -
Of course there would be. It wouldn’t take much to sort the club out. At most from the day of purchase, you might have to accept things being bumpy for up to a couple of years whilst letting fat contracts and uninterested mercenaries leave. It just needs someone willing to rip up the culture and instil some standards.

Absolutely spot on, every damn word (although it does depend which 11 fans you are selecting would be my only comment on the accuracy of this post ). This should be key reading for all KPFC fans. It is not entitled. Notice the only people that refer to league positions are the KPFC lot. Those who want change are for the reasons you have highlighted.

First point, just because we did last time it is not as simple as doing it again. Even if the season finished now with the 3 going down, I reckon we’d be behind Ipswich and Southampton next season and that’s without whoever doing go up. Leeds probably go up. Whoever doesn’t go up out of Sheff Utd, Burnley and Sunderland who are building something will be strong. Even if we don’t have a points deduction and/or embargo, getting in the playoffs next season will be an achievement. Second point, it’s not just about ‘let’s go down and just come up again’. It’s about having a club we can get behind, take pride in, players showing desire on the pitch. It’s embarrassing to be a Leicester fan right now and that has nothing to do with the league position. Football is about much more than looking at the results and league table on a Saturday night….
-
You’re completely missing the point. Sorry if that is blunt! We are one of the worst 3 sides in the league, personally I have expected us to finish bottom 3 all season and my comments will show that such as transfer business to plan for the Championship etc. But please justify that defending yesterday to me? That was not what you’d expect from a weaker side towards a stronger side in the same division (let’s not even get started on how bad Everton are in their own right). I would honestly expect better from a non-league side against a Premier League side in terms of the basics. Yes they’d likely still lose by a bit but it’d be harder, maybe they’d get worn down and played around, not just parting like the Red Sea! You simply cannot justify the level of what happened yesterday down to ‘being one of the worst 3 in the league’….

Everton 4-0 LCFC, post match thread
LCFCJohn replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
I have only just watched the goals this morning. I was expecting it to be bad but somehow I am completely shocked at what I have just seen. I wouldn’t expect to see that level of defending from a non-league side against a premier league side in the cup. There are absolute basics that kids do when defending. I really can’t get my head around it. Faes and Vestergard are bad but come on, they aren’t that bad. I can only come to the conclusion it is intentional. Making a point? Match fixing? -
He has said this? Seriously! It’s quite literally common knowledge and in Vardy’s book that he credits Nige and Shakey for turning things around! Pearson and co were only here in the first place because KP had to swallow their pride after they f***ed up sacking him initially!
-
They have quite literally seen that we won last week and come to the conclusion all will be fine haven’t they! Top and Rudkin gone full James Maddison!!
