Bigger clubs take your better players, football has been like this for years if not forever. Nobody moans when a Championship club comes along and takes a good player from League 1.

I don't really agree with all of this. Coady for example, was 30+ coming to the end of his career and we spent £8m on him. He was a terrible signing given the money. I also didn't include the lesser known singings, such as Golding, or free transfers such as Reid. Overall our terrible recruitment is one of the issues why we are in this mess and everybody associated with that, including Glover as he is "head of senior recruitment", should be accountable. You don't just pick and choose when the club is failing.

Absolutely staggering that less than 5 years ago we were finishing top 6 in the top flight, and won a domestic trophy, while Ipswich weren't even finishing top 6 of the third tier. Now we're both in the second tier and we don't even consider ourselves as promotion rivals to them.

He arrived in summer 2022 if this thread is anything to go by. In that time Faes, Kristensen, Souttar have all joined under Rodgers. Cannon, Mavididi, Hermansen, Coady and Winks under Maresca. Fatawu, Okoli, Skipp, Ayew, El-Khannouss and Coulibaly under Cooper and Van Nistelrooy. A lot of money spent there on some really poor players. Even if Cooper had a say last summer what about wasting nearly £15m on Cannon and Coady under Maresca? Head of senior recruitment and director of football should be answering serious questions.

People always say this but no proof that we wouldn't be in this mess either. When he was alive we chucked money around, and didn't even make top 6, until Pearson came back (the man they fvcked off and replaced with Sousa who had us in a relegation battle). Without Pearson wanting to come back we don't achieve anything anyway. After Vichai died we were more of a constant success, two top 6 finishes plus winning the FA Cup and Community Shield.

Who said compete? Everyone said he will play in CL, which he will as Celtic are in it. Whilst I don't disagree they don't have enough quality, they did only narrowly get knocked out by a good Bayern side last season.

If I was him I'd go to Celtic. Big club, big ground, big fanbase, score lots of goals, play in Champions League, play in Old Firm games, win a league title and possible domestic trophies too. All at 38 years of age. Be interesting to see how he gets on winding opposition players and fans up in Scotland though. Always seems a lot more intense than our Country.

It's because nowadays people just look at numbers and "oh he only scored xx goals he's not that good". Mad way to judge players.

Yeah, I always say this. People love to sit and criticise now yet at the the time the same people were "good signing" "well needed experience". I got criticised for saying how bad Skipp would be. Could see it a mile off. For some reason you can't seem to criticise new signigns. People love "experience" and then criticise it at the end of the season when it hasn't worked out. These players are awful yet we're supposed to be happy signing them.

Before PSR how many times did a top 6 club go down? Sunderland, a promoted team, have spent over £100m this summer.
