  1. Played really well, hopefully he can take that into the Euro Tour at the weekend
  2. You may as well be talking to a wall with some people
  3. We shall see! He seems like the kind of geezer you can get behind. Nelson was with him at Oxford albeit for a short while. Looks like he started 8 games under Rowett. 3 clean sheets. With 7 conceded in 8 and 9 scored. Like I have said, I think a lot hinges on the things hes mentioned in his interview snd things youve mentioned. A lot of the issues with this team at this level are mental. A back to basics manager who knows how to talk to people and make them feel positive will be a big plus. Hopefully Rowett is that man. Very interested to see how we look on Saturday
  4. Yeah the outrageous play off shout was me poking fun at the members who's opinions violently change based on the last result really If he's the man manager I think he is and is able to sort out our appalling defensive record, even with our lack of competent strikers, we clearly have goals in the team. Hard not to see us surging up the table if he has buy in from the players. His interview sounded decent, didn't really detect much in the way of corportate rubbish/boll*cks or pandering to the fans. Seems focused on getting the players on side and putting the challenge on them to get us out of this position. I've learned not to get too carried away by words, but I did like that he said something along the lines of "we can do all the talking we want, but match days are what matter". I've not felt this optimistic in a while, so I'm gonna try and chase this feeling for a week. Actually looking forward to watching the game in the pub on Saturday now haha.
  5. Fight! Fight! Fight!
  6. Fair, but even without "goalscorers" we have scored 44, which is 11th highest and a goal or two from top 8 scorers in the league. And that's playing under a gaffer that's had us spending entire halves without trying to attack. Not that Rowett is Bielsa Anyway my pre season prediction was 4-10th so purely because of that I had to go up to 10th with my prediction. Realistically I think 13-16th is doable. There's generally not a lot between 10th and 16th though. I'm basing a lot of this on the hopes that Rowett is first and foremost a decent man manager who can get the players onboard and buying in. Secondly I'd expect to be a lot more hard to beat. And we've proven we can score goals. Even with Ayew and Daka being our front men. Mukasa, Fatawu and James are about to bust some sh*t wide open! I'm buzzing for these posts to be quoted when we go down having scored 8 more goals and picking up 7 points
  7. Genuinely not concerned one bit about relegation with Rowett in. Our goals scored is higher than Millwall who occupy 5th place. When he was sacked, Oxford had conceded the same amount of goals as us. As much as we love dumping on the squad, there's 100% more talent here than he had there. I reckon he has us finish somewhere between 10th and 16th. If I want to make an outrageous call, I wouldn't be shocked to see some of the more emotionally extreme fans here will even talk about the possibility of play offs at some points
  8. I remember going to Villa park one year. As we were walking to the ground, we must have been walking past the main entrance. Someone that looked a lot like David Ginola storming out the stadium down the stairs. Gets into his car and speeds off out the car park. We asked the steward if it was David Ginola and he said "yeah, I think he just found out he's not in the team today"
  9. I feel like it's mainly that he's not that arsed. He's clearly out of his depth and he's letting another guy who's well out of his depth. If he was genuinely interested and passionate about the job and club then he'd be making much more of an effort.
  10. Player wages are far too high in this country. Obviously take it with a pinch of salt as it's an AI overview as I haven't got the time or patience to look in depth. Clubs spending far too much money on players. It needs to be corrected, the impact is felt all the way down the pyramid, even to the 7th/8th tier of English football.
  11. Haha! My mind also went to "the family secretly hated Vichai" funnily enough, at least it's a theory
  12. I wonder if Top will do the same when it comes time for us to make a lot of low paid staff redundant.
  13. What's your theory behind that thought? Not sure why they'd purposefully a) Do this to what they consider to be Vichai's legacy b) Ruin and devalue an asset of theirs? Interested to hear how you got to that possibility haha.
  14. Mad that Rowett's been available all this time, and we're now into Day 3 of being aware that the club want to hire him. Can't be many other clubs with higher ups who are this painfully slow and out of their depth.
  15. Cautiously optimistic on this one. Assuming Jordan James is back in March and stays fit, then I think he can have us mid table. There's not one team in this league that we should fear on our day. Desperate for someone to get in and get the player's looking fit, doing the basics and reducing the chance of errors. Most important thing is him getting the man management right. Too many players who either can't be arsed or look shot confidence wise. Get their heads up and get a bit of positivity in the dressing room and we should be more than capable of picking up a decent haul of points. This is a skillset I assume he has from what I've read and seen of his teams.
  16. What actually is asset stripping in this conext? Because it just seems like he sold players and reduced the wage spend? Which just seems like unfortunate but sensible decision making, if the alternative is admin/going out of business.
  17. Depends if we rate our pipeline of kids to make a return on the investment. If we drop to cat 2 it becomes a lot easier for teams to come in and hoover them up compared to if we're Cat 1. Parents will push their kids to join the higher rated set up, whereas now we have the leverage of being able to offer the Cat 1 environment and first team football.
  18. Why are so many people getting AI to write their opinions for them now
  19. Makes sense Very rarely take much interest in Rugby but enjoy watching 6N and the world cup. Made me feel slightly better about watching Scotland tear us a new one yesterday haha.
  20. Have Wales got their reserves out or something?
  21. Is there actually a source for that or has someone just made it up as a wind up? Still not seen where its actually come from.
  22. Certainly not the type to turn down a lucrative Leicester pay day when he's not up to the job. Likeable bloke, but this club has paid the man more money than he could ever have dreamed of making from the game.
  23. New rule apparently where you can play for two teams in the same cup. At least I learned something new today. Thats probably as good as it will get
  24. God damn thats a basic take
  25. The 3-2 Spurs one always sticks out, made even sweeter that our PE teacher was a Spurs fan. Left an envelope on his desk as we had him 2nd period. He opened it up in front of the class and inside was an A3 print out of De Vries sliding the winner home
