  1. I hope that Cheltenham's number 9 scores at the weekend. I want that wooden spoon. If we're going to be bad, let's be the best at being bad. Second worst is worse than worst.
  2. I hope that the dummies that were handing out 8 out of 10s for the last transfer window can now see the absolute negligence by the club in leaving us in this position
  3. I don't understand this. JV doesn't play for us any more as you say yourself. So as I say, we have no striker worthy of the name.
  4. That's pretty much the plan, in a nutshell, yes. I think I have just grown tired of flogging the same dead horses, we've got to try something different. Anything. Even Wout Faes.
  5. I am and I already have in the Blackburn pre match thread like Steve Walsh c. 1993. Admittedly this is due to the fact that we don't have a functional striker and would have the added benefit of keeping him out of trouble by dint of being at the other end of the pitch, but I think it might work. I think he would cause chaos and have more chance of getting onto the end of crosses. It might not be pretty but remember, he doesnt have to be good, he just has to be better than Ayew, Daka or the other bloke.
  6. I think that the majority of us did want Bowen. But this thread is the wrong way around. Usually it is posters saying the opposite, celebrating a signing that you can see will be a dud from a mile off, such as Carranza or Vestergaard when we had aspirations of CL football. I'm quite sure that if we signed Alison Hammond to play up front we would hear the usual chorus of 'give her time', 'she hasn't kicked a ball for us yet' etc.
  7. I remember when we had an injury crisis up front and Steve Walsh was pressed into service as a forward and scored 7 in 7 if memory serves. Since we have no striker worthy of the name, I reckon we should stick Wout up front. He's no Walshie but is at least aggressive and would bamboozle defenders with his eccentricity. It would have the added benefit of making his defensive howlers a lot less likely. The more I think about it, the more I think it is worth a try.
  8. Because the other ones are Wout Faes and Caleb Okoli.
  9. I was very glad to see the back of Dan but I'll be even gladder to see the back of Wout, so by that logic, Dan > Wout. I think. Its a bit like arguing whether a migraine is better than an ulcer mind.
  10. More than quarter of the season gone and our strikers have one goal between them.
  11. Sheffield Wednesday fans didn't achieve anything. Chansiri didn't leave because of pressure, he left as the club went into administration and subject to a winding up order.
  12. I didn't watch it, but I don't get it. I would have thought that would play straight into our hands. Vestergaard receives the ball and has two forwards bearing down on him, he can take them out with a pass and create an overload. I thought we wanted forwards to press us so that we could bypass them? That's what all that wonderful sideways passing around the defence was all about. I can understand teams doubling up on Fatawu since he is our only real threat but doubling up on Vestergaard too should leave them wide open. I dunno.
  13. Chernobyl FC
  14. Isn't the point of having a ball playing centre-half, to beat the press?
  15. Well let's look at the squad. The majority have been signed to play in the Premier League or have won this division before. Add in our established academy graduates who are experienced at premier League level and then there's just the loanees, two of which have been arguably our best players this year. Our squad is still imbalanced and leaving us without a striker is pure dereliction of duty by the board, but there's no way we should accept mid table championship from them. We should demand that some of them pull their fingers out and start living up to their reputations.
  16. Sheffield Wednesday lost today, have entered administration and have just been given a 12 point penalty but by all accounts their fans were sunshine and smiles today because they were finally rid of Chansiri. I imagine I'll feel like that the day Wout is finally gone.
  17. It's not as simple as showing them the exit door. They're on Rudkin contracts and they're going to wring every last unearned drop out of them.
  18. So why not give Marti that option? As bad as he has been, I don't see anything to be gained from sacking him. Our problems run much deeper.
  19. I thought we would get promoted this year.
  20. To be fair he has scored one more than all of our other strikers put together.
  21. He gets the ball with his back to goal and then dribbles toward his own goal or falls over. Attacks die when they meet Jordan Ayew. Link up player he is not.
  22. Until the Nelson mystery is cleared up, I don't think we can ever say that he has.
  23. That McAthomas thing is not going to catch on.
