  1. I’m expecting a busy last day of the window.
  2. must surely be called off on safety grounds. Neither side will want the risk.
  3. I think a new start at a new club will be very good for Barnes and his development and is just what he needs. I will be watching him with interest to see whether he can kick on now. From our perspective £40m isn't the best, but is acceptable in the position we are in and could make the starting 11 significantly stronger. As always though, the key is to recruit well with the money and we won't be able to judge that with any degree of certainty for quite some time.
  4. Along with the departures of Tielemans, Maddison, Evans, Soyuncu, Amartey, & Mendy, are we now finally seeing the reset that Rodgers wanted?
  5. Big "IF" on whether they can find the same levels of form too in my opinion. Neither did on their previous comebacks, but to be fair they were cut short by injury again.
  6. can't expect anything out of the remaining fixtures if the players on the field aren't giving 100% and we have several who don't.
  7. It may be that Tielemans has checked out of course, but I do wonder whether he’s actually playing with an injury.
  8. Can’t believe what I’m seeing really. We are a joke.
  9. I fear that too many see their future away from the King Power.
  10. Time for the players to step up. If they can't show the determination tonight to win every tackle, every loose ball, and every individual duel, then we are gone.
  11. Nowhere for the players to hide after this. I guess we’ll see who has, and who hasn’t already checked out.
  12. I’ve not got a particular bias either way on Rodgers but someone mentioned earlier about how good the basic squad was when he came in, and I think we saw the best of him in that situation. Since then however, we’ve lost key players to injury & transfer and then failed to replace them with equal quality whilst simultaneously putting big money onto our wage bill to chase a top 4 place. It was never sustainable for a club our size and means, and painted us into a difficult corner financially restricting our ability to operate in the transfer market. We’ll never know whether the players brought in under Rodgers tenure were first choice or tenth choice, but sadly we now have a distinct lack of quality, and a jaded playing staff, many of which see their future elsewhere. This is a very very different scenario to that which Rodgers found when he first came here. Is he the man to guide us through the rebuild that lies ahead and take us back to being a top ten side? Is he the man you would choose first in this situation? I doubt he’d be top of many people’s lists. I think it’s inevitable that Rodgers is replaced in the summer as we look to rebuild & perhaps reinvent our football too.
  13. I’d hope they do too, but Ricky & JJ have some way to go to get back to where they were before being beset by injury. I really hope they can do it. The youth players have yet to have a chance so are unproven, hence the question mark over them.
  14. If you look at the 32 man squad the scale of the rebuild facing us going forward is frightening and is going to take time, even if we get every recruitment decision spot-on. For me, definite keepers are: Wout Faes Timmy C Harry Soutar Viktor Kristiansen Harvey Barnes KDH Mendy Kelechi A goalkeeper Those with questions over them would be: JJ Ricky Wanya Marcal-Madivadua Lewis Brunt Sammy B Alves Tete Those I’d be willing to let go would be: Soyuncu Bertrand Evans Amartey Vestergaard Thomas Tielemans (contract situation) Maddison (contract situation) Ndidi Soumare Praet Vardy Daka
  15. Didn’t Potters Brighton team struggle to score goals? Similar to his Chelsea side now as it happens.
  16. That was as poor as I’ve seen for a long time. I’ve got no problem with team selection, I’d guess that was driven by saving players for the Southampton game, avoiding injuries, and giving minutes to those needing to build fitness. However, Blackburn showed us what fight & determination to win looks like last night. This used to be our signature, and is the minimum any team has to have regardless of any difference in quality there might be on the day. I blame the players largely, with one or two exceptions, they were nowhere near an acceptable level of performance. Froze my bloody nuts off to support the team last night and they let everyone down badly.
  17. I wasn’t expecting a win, but I did at least expect to see the fight & aggressive closing shown in the Spurs, & Man U first half. I don’t know why we didn’t get into them, and Rodgers & the coaching staff looked to be pretty frustrated on the sidelines too. Strong Reaction against Southampton is needed to set the standard for the rest of the season now.
  18. He deserves to be playing Champions League. If he goes, I hope he goes somewhere where he has that.
  19. Mahrez might make a half-decent backup for Tete
  20. If they can somehow fix Ndidi, what a great first 11 we’d have.
  21. Only if we let Villa have the ball 😉
  22. His contract terminates in summer ‘24 I think, so now might be the best time to maximise his value. Given we have 7 players out of contract this summer, and 9 next summer, the size of the rebuilding project is enormous and requires significant funding. It would not be surprising if the club look to massively reduce the wage bill so extending contracts may not be straightforward either. Interesting times ahead as the club goes through a transformation.
  23. We have a major overhaul & rebuild project facing us. I’d be looking very closely at Vincent Company. What he & his management team have done at Burnley is both surprising and outstanding.
  24. i think that's the view of the podcast linked earlier.
  25. With the number of players reaching the final months of their contracts, inevitably there will be a huge transformation, possibly including the management too, given the length of their tenure. Whether that turns out to be good or bad remains to be seen but it does feel like something of a knife edge.
