Corky Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 In what way is he being greedy?? Are you serious??? If you're offered £100k a week to play for Chelsea or Liverpool, who would you choose?
Raj Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 If you're offered £100k a week to play for Chelsea or Liverpool, who would you choose?Play for Liverpool and make an impact or sit on the bench for Chelsea??Have Chelsea shown an interest anyway? I'd choose Leicester of course and I'd only want 50k!!!
ScouseFox Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 why shouldn't he want more money? we all want more money, don't we? it's very rare you'd find anyone, rich, content or poor who wouldn't delay any kind of deal if they thought a better one would be on its way in two months time. why should footballers be any different?
Raj Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 Actually your right fook it..let them fight over him and pay him 200k a week..I can't stand Liverpool,Chelsea and think sterling is vastly over rated...pay them what he wants, and all the other over rated players then moan when fans have to pay £60 to watch footy!!!...No wonder Ashely Cole crashed his car when Arsenal only offered him 30k a week....
ScouseFox Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 yes footballers get paid too much and yes it costs way too much to go and watch football but none of that is raheem sterling's fault, is it? he's just happily playing a game of footy a week and being offered (not demanding, being offered) ludicrous amounts to do so. the people stupid enough to end up giving him £150,000-a-week are the ones you should have a problem with, not some kid for accepting it.
Raj Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 I'm not gonna keep on with this but.I'm confused...he's currently on 35k,scousers have offered him 100k right?? So he says it's not about money???..So. Shut the fook up and take the 100k and play then!!??..Perhaps I'm missing the point...

He said he wants to win trophies and he's got more chance doing that at a club like Manchester City than he does at Liverpool. He's gonna get crazy money wherever he goes. it seems like he just wants to play for the best team possible and end his career with some medals.
davieG Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 As far as I can see he's not demanded anything he's got 2 years left on a £35 grand a week contract. It's Liverpool that are doing the demanding. Having said that he's a diver and not someone I admire because of that.
ScouseFox Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 he wants to win trophies so is waiting for an offer from city/madrid/chelsea? he's got no supporters/local loyalty to liverpool, they are gonna be a europa league side who have won one carling cup in the past 9 years by the time he signs this contract. just because they're offering an obscene amount of money it doesn't mean he has to take it, that's what people don't seem to understand. if you worked for an average company for a few years, getting average pay and were then offered a new contract with improved pay you'd probably take it. but if you'd also just aced an interview at a much better company who will offer you a better job, with better pay, you'd be an absolute idiot not to at least weigh up your options and keep them open until you have to decide which road to go down. and you'd almost definitely take the better offer at the better company if it came your way. why is it any different just because we're dealing with £100ks a week instead of £10 an hour? same situation.

Spot on... If somebody puts a £150k a week contract in front of me, I'm going to sign in.
Stadt Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 Why do people expect footballers to do the 'right' thing all of the time when they probably wouldn't
Merging Cultures Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 Completely overrated. Doing a poor job in this Arse game so far. (He'll score now I bet)
AyewJoking Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 if you have the chance to get insane money but only for a period of about 10 years then you have to make the most of it. I'm sure his agent is advising him to hold out for more.
fuchsntf Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 I dont think at present Sterling is anywhere near Rooneys talent. He has potential, but noway near or has the right to be so highly rated....but to these plaudits playing out opinions, remember and read the situation better,he hasnt shouted or shown off himself.Too many in the press and tv are looking for a a young hero, like they did for Walcott. I would love to see him become a top WC player, but at present he is light years away. The same for Schlupp, hoping cementing a Premier League quality player status, "potential' at different levels is all they are. Sterling is for me overrated, I havent yet seen him do anything to say hes earnt an automatic slot in for An England place, why people drool over him is a mystery to me. BUT, this criticism of him over his interview is absolute mischievious shit stirring and BS. He hasnt said anything out of the ordinary. This 100,000 statement is a fact, not what he said he expected, not his fault that people for their own cause, make an issue out of it. Trying to discuss the rights and wrongs of a 20 yr old just mentioning it is again stupid ,he wasnt arrogant, not over the top. or even critical of his club, basically he said with too many words, he doesnt want to sign YET!!. What the hell do some people want or expect.
