Maybes Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 He hasn't asked for more money has he? He has declined to sign a deal until at least the summer. Clearly he could get them pay more now, but he wants to see how things turn out. If they club get in the top 4 and sign some talent no doubt he will sign. If they don't do either who could blame him for moving on? He is playing it fairly sensibly in my view. its not like he is out of contract in the summer. Agree with this. No problem in my eyes. Just the media/liverpool fans hyping it up. It's not like his contract is running out this summer.
Guest MattP Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 You have to feel that most Liverpool fans will not see it this way. They'll think he has betrayed everyone and insulted Hillsborough (probably). Remember when Rodgers used Hillsborough to try and get Suarez to stay, absolutely sickening piece of coercion, he might even try and do it again here.
GingerrrFox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 I can see Raheem at Arsenal and Theo Walcott going the opposite way to Liverpool. It makes sense for all parties.
Stadt Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Remember when Rodgers used Hillsborough to try and get Suarez to stay, absolutely sickening piece of coercion, he might even try and do it again here. That happened?
Corky Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 He hasn't said anything particularly incorrect or disrespectful, Liverpool are not a regular trophy winning side any more and look likely to have another season out of the Champions League (fifth in six years). He could earn those wages at another club with more chance of winning trophies, here or abroad.
Guest MattP Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 That happened? I can't remember the exact quotation but I remember sitting watching it thinking WTF. Was something along the lines of "We want him to stay for next season at least, we're making progress now and with it being the 25th anniversary of Hillsborough it's going to be a special season and we don't anyone to let theese great fans down who have been through that" He stayed of course for that season.
Leeds Fox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Does anyone see it as the just the press and possibly even the club who are the bad ones in this situation. The lad won't sign a contract while he's still honouring the contract he previously signed. When he signed the previous one, he signed to be at Liverpool until it expires, and has no obligations to renegotiate until it expires. He's not done a thing wrong, he wants to wait and see what his next move is. If this was any other businesses but football, he would be seen as a very proffesional and savvy man.
MooseBreath Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 A poor man's Julian Joachim and will probably have a similar career arch.
Raj Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Gonna be another David Bentley!!! Vastly overated and over hyped... 100,000 a week???..tw@t don't know he's born...greedy BASTARD
goose2010 Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 100k a week for what is basically a part time job.....next thing you know they will be saying they can only play 60 mins a game! It honestly annoys me so much when they say they are suffering from burn out. Burn out from what?? they should be able to do their 'job' and then doing an actual job on top! The whole world of football is playing a very dangerous game it will implode within 5 years and more and more clubs will start going out of business
Super_horns Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 No great loyalty to them has he having come from QPR. Liverpool fans shouldn't really be surprised - agents talk and these youngsters listen to them...
filbertway Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 He's said everything right there for me, he wants to be part of a team that will give him the best chance of success. I can't believe I've seen the words overrated attached to him and Barkley on here recently. Christ if these boys don't do it for you I'm not sure how you manage to get by watching us week in week out.

It's an emotive issue but it's holding them back, I think they like using it as a trump card and it distracts from Heysel too.
Matt Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 The most over-rated player in English football at moment. All he does is dive.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 I do think a 20 year old should show the club who have brought him through (to first team football, I know he was poached as a kid) and not leave at the first chance. He could spend another couple of years with liverpool and then get his big move.
marko Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 "The lady doth protests too much, methinks" Liverpool shouldn't be surprised by Raheem and his demands. After all, he signed for Liverpool from QPR because they offered him the most money, then indulged him when he wanted to be the best paid 18 year old in the country.
GingerrrFox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Let's be fair to the lad though. He's 20 years old and one of the most promising young talents in world football. He's gonna get a shit load of money wherever he plays, why should he stay at Liverpool if they aren't in Champions League football and don't look like winning the Premier League anytime soon? He's paid a wage by a club to play football and perform at his best nothing more. He's hasn't signed his life away. Liverpool can offer similar amounts to the likes of Chelsea and Man City but he's likely to win more trophies at the latter and he knows it too. As for all this bollocks about he owes Brendan Rodgers, he owes him **** all. A player that good would have made it anywhere not just at Liverpool and he started his footballing education at QPR anyway. He holds all the cards, Liverpool and their fans know it and are trying to guilt trip the lad to signing on the dotted line. Pathetic really.
Raj Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 You got a player like Steve Gerrard who is only on a bit more than this 20 year old who's done fook all....let's put this into perspective. People saying this is OK???..This is the biggest problem with football
theessexfox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 You got a player like Steve Gerrard who is only on a bit more than this 20 year old who's done fook all....let's put this into perspective. People saying this is OK???..This is the biggest problem with football It isn't okay for a player to take charge of his contract situation?

Aus Fox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Would love to see the likes of Sterling, Barkley, Clyne etc. those who are going to be part of the England squad for the next World Cup, move across to Spain, France, Italy or even South America. I've said for a long time?, the problem with te England team is not too many foreigners in the premier league, it's not enough English players moving abroad. We are so confortable in our own surrounding that we struggle when we have to play world cups in Other parts of the world. Every other national team, has players across the globe learning new things and cultures, ours learn how to count money and play play station in their big country house.
Raj Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 It isn't okay for a player to take charge of his contract situation?Course it is,but he's being greedy. He hasn't don't anything.
Raj Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 You think Gerrard wouldnt be on that much if he was 20 again? You've just backed my point.A Gerrard who's actually achieved something who has lived up to his potential...or another future David Bentley
theessexfox Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 Course it is,but he's being greedy. He hasn't don't anything. In what way is he being greedy though? He doesn't want to sign a new contract at the moment as he will be better placed to decide on his future at the end of his season, where he can see where Liverpool are and if any clubs with higher ambition want him.
