zak_lcfc Posted 7 April 2015 Posted 7 April 2015 Looked through General sport and couldn't find a thread for the 2015 Aintree Festival, (I saw the sweepstakes thread but that was all, if there is another feel free to delete this one mods) although I usually don't win anywhere near the amounts I do at Cheltenham it's still a nice festival to get involved in, some decent races going on and of course the big one in the form of the Grand National. My pick this year is Balthazar King, one of my favourite horses and looks to have all the right attributes to go one better this year round. Wonder if anybody had any tips or strong fancies, knowing me i'll end up placing a few more ew bets before Saturday like usually happens each year
ScouseFox Posted 7 April 2015 Posted 7 April 2015 One national bet so far is Spring Heeled @ 25/1. Will have more through the week of course. Working 9.30 til 9.45 (12h15m not just 15 mins) on National Day, that's gonna be a fun one. I reckon I'll have to explain that e/w doubles your stake upwards of 500 times in 12 hours. CANT WAIT. Got a trixie from a few weeks ago of Ma Filleule in the Aintree Bowl, Champagne Fever in the Melling Chase & Whisper in the Liverpool Hurdle. Some pretty good racing to be had. I'm off work on Thurs and Fri so leaving most my bets til then, do some studying both mornings and hopefully smash it.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Always seem to win a substantial amount here instead of Cheltenham for some reason, hope it continues this year. For the national itself did shutthefrontdoor anti post about 3 months ago at about 3 times its current price, same with Balthazar King straight after its win in December. On the day I'm looking at a few lively E/W chances in Al Co and Oscar Time. Not watched the National for the last 5 years with either work or city games and same again this year being at West Brom.
goose2010 Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Soll for me in the national and American Spinner is really over priced at 100/1 decent EW
Ashley Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Druids and rocky Creek are fancies for me for the national
zak_lcfc Posted 8 April 2015 Author Posted 8 April 2015 Put a few more quid on Balthazar King, really a strong fancy for me, the National is always difficult to call but he's a personal favourite so I'll stick with him Betvictor are paying 6 places, might be worth noting as I'm not sure if anywhere else is doing 6 I can see 5 in most bookies
ScouseFox Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 paddypower are offering 1/5 on shutthefrontdoor going off as fav. i've not got enough money to make it worthwhile but for anyone who has that is surely just a nice bit of free money?
lee7 Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 I would love to see AP win and retire on a high so ill probably put a few quid on shutthefrontdoor to win just incase. Will also have the Druids nephew, many clouds and Harry the Viking!
chrishlcfc Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Had 2 national bets so far, Gas Line Boy @66/1 because it's my mates horse I don't hold much hope for it but Christ if it wins there would be some party and Goonyella @25/1 only had it because I backed it in the Midlands national at Uttoxeter and it hacked up. The National is a lottery though but my main pick will be Balthazar King which has been laid out for the race all year and running so well last year. Looking forward to the other races at Aintree more than the National really as there looks to be as per normal some high class racing.
Matt Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Got a lucky 15 on tomorrow. 1.40 - Josses Hill. 2.50 - Holywell. 3.25 - Jezki. 5.15 - Call The Cops. My worry? They all had big runs at Cheltenham, a trend that in the past hasn't worked for me.
cjslcfc Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 Got a couple of EW ante post bets on Saint Are and Chance Du Roy for the national. As usual, the race is a bit of a lottery but I really fancy those two at great prices (40/1 each). Shutthefrontdoor far too short for my liking although it should run a massive race. Rocky Creek should be up with the pace and will be a big danger as he's an even better horse this year than last.
ScouseFox Posted 8 April 2015 Posted 8 April 2015 tomorrow i'm kicking off with a lucky 31 of; Three Kingdoms @ 11/2 Hargam @ 4/6 (shit price but cannot see it being beaten) Ma Filleule @ 4/1 Arctic Fire @ 15/8 Warne @ 5/1 20p stakes return just over £650. Then a decent e/w single on Warne in the Foxhunters. Got a huge chance, many firms paying 5 places and 1/4 odds. Waley-Cohen has a ludicrous record over these fences and this horse has form figures of 4th & 1st in the last two renewals of this race. Some form to find based on a run a year ago vs the fav but I'm hoping that these fences will bring the best out of the front running horse and jockey. Will dream up some more multiples and a few singles in the last few races no doubt.
chrishlcfc Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 L15 of: Silviniaco Conti Arctic Fire On the Fringe and one at Southwell 40p L15 returns £138
ealingfox Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 EW Treble for me today Vibrato Valtat Next Sensation Call The Cops £5 ew returns just under 900!
ealingfox Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 If Josses Hill wins imma go absolutely apeshite because ive backed it as a favourite on at least 2 occasions and every time its been absolute dog muck with all the jumping ability of Stephen Hawking. Also what bookies do cash-out on nag accys/multiples? So annoying that Billy Hill dont. I feel like a battered wife when it comes to Billy Hill. Less markets, less in-play markets, utterly shite mobile app, stingier cash-outs, never any offers or rewards for existing customers. Yet I keep coming back to them and not leaving them for another bookie because they said theyve changed and that they love me.
leicesterisme Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Might be wrong but I think it's only Betfair who offer cash outs on racing.
ScouseFox Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Yeah betfair are the only ones I think. William Hill are generally the shittest at most things "offer" wise, we even got told in work once that there's evidence that the name alone brings more people to William Hill than, let's say, Betfred saying he'll pay 7 places on the national and give you best odds guaranteed etc. So they generally don't bother with many gimmicks, especially in shop.
Ashley Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Ladbrokes enhanced odds on Hargam 5/4 Might be wrong but I think it's only Betfair who offer cash outs on racing. 365 do too
zak_lcfc Posted 9 April 2015 Author Posted 9 April 2015 Gone for an ew treble of: Silviniaco Conti Hargam Arctic Fire Pays around 17/1, only small stakes to kick off the first day
zak_lcfc Posted 9 April 2015 Author Posted 9 April 2015 Heads up I think Stan James are doing the free £5 each day again, it can be used on anything on the site not just Aintree so worth getting I suppose
chrishlcfc Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Heads up I think Stan James are doing the free £5 each day again, it can be used on anything on the site not just Aintree so worth getting I suppose How do you get that, been on Stanjames and can't seem to find anything?
ScouseFox Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 first bet was obviously lost within ten seconds of the off. awful run from three kingdoms .
