When he shot him, the suspect said said he was shot, on cop holding him said, 'you f'ing ran', then he said he couldn't breath a cop holding him said 'f your breath'. They said they experienced auditory exclusion and didn't hear the gunshot!!

When there is something like this which is in all intents and purposes , an accident... why do the media feel obliged to stoke the racial tensions with headlines that menion the officers color and the guy who ran- his color too. What else are they hoping to do other than bring about racial divide? stir up anger? stir up hatred? Its very very low quality sensationlist journalism and I ( used to) expect more from the BBC

It's a shame; accidents happen, and it's not unusual for there to be police shootings which end up in court // killing those that don't deserve to die, of both colours. I've seen examples of black cops shooting white offenders, never really makes the news, and if so - wouldn't be labelled "black cop shoots white man."

I've seen examples of black cops shooting white offenders, never really makes the news, and if so - wouldn't be labelled "black cop shoots white man." I think the problem is that a lot of the police are getting away with it.

Given the figures, there is a real race issue at hand and on this occasion (imo) the media is justified in exposing it. A 2002 study in the American Journal of Public Health found that the death rate due to legal intervention was more than three times higher for blacks than for whites in the period from 1988 to 1997. The 1,217 deadly police shootings from 2010 to 2012 captured in the federal data show that blacks, age 15 to 19, were killed at a rate of 31.17 per million, while just 1.47 per million white males in that age range died at the hands of police. To me it seems that there is a real problem in the US and that has been causeed by the politicians and the media, they have spent the past 14 years (and in all fairness probably forever) generating fear about everyone, the number of deaths by shooting in amaerica is not just about the accesss to guns, it is about trhe society been scared to death and taught by its leaders that violence is the best response.

Having read more, this 'accident' is becoming less forgivable. The gun he fired would have required 15lbs of pressure to pull the trigger and would have weighed significantly more than a taser. Even an undertrained 73 year old pumped full of adrenaline would have known the difference. The police have a term for these errors 'slips and capture'. This along with 'auditory exclusion' smells like bs.
