suffolk fox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Paul Konchesky please do the hounarable thing and retire now. Last night him and Morgan were liabilities. Everytime Chelsea attacked they came down Konchesky's side. Watching him he was like a startled rabbit caught in the headlights. Newcastle and Qpr scouts watching us last night will know where our weak link is and will try to exploit it when we play them. I do fear for our survival hopes if he stays in the team? Message to Pearson bring moore into the centre of defence move Wasilewski to left back get rid of liability konchesky.
NewquayFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 He has lost the ability to read the game, he just seems to wander around swinging his arms and stands watching as we try to defend his lack of awareness. No pace and a liability so please give Ben Chillwell a chance on Saturday.....
KFS Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Okay, yes, he needs to drop down a few tiers. But Wasilewski at LB? Are you insane?
Callabinho Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Morgan wasn't that bad, he coped with Drogba fairly well, Huth going off caused us some problems as we lost that vital experience at the back. As for Konch he was up against Willian, who's a hugely underrated player, he'd destroy most in front of him given space and time. Overall we gave a good account of ourselves last night, no point trying to pick faults against the would be champions.
LAprice_ Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Can you please name a left-back in this league that can cope with Willian and Ramires?
Webbo Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 With Schlupp injured who else would you played last night? Cue " my grandma could of done better" or "play Chillwell" a youth team player whose never played a first team game. Chelsea have beaten better teams than us this season, they're 13 points clear at the top of the table. Stop looking for scapegoats.
Karljohn Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Moore at right back and de laet left? A cardboard cutout of Konch would have been more use last night.
CKB Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 He was garbage against Burnley aswell, who certainly don't have a Willian. I don't want him anywhere near the team, he's past it, he's a major liability & one huge weak link
LcFc_Smiv Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Lay off him, hardly a glowing performance but it was always going to be a tough night for him with the players he was up against. He hardly had a bad game, sure that cross should have been 10 times better but give it a rest. A decent team performance against the champions elect and you want to pick on players, who are possibly only in the squad as we have no other viable option!
BigMicky Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Absoloutly ridiculous to single out PK for his inability to handle William, Ivanovich and at times Hazard. What were you expecting? Some cretin near me slagged him off the whole game and wanted him taken off. Who else currently can play there?? Its so short sighted and severely lacking in intelligence.
Leicester Lass Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 In his defence he had very little protection in front of him, Chelsea doubled up on him in the second half. I do agree he's not good enough and it's one of Pearson's major failings not replacing him after we were promoted.

CKB Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I do agree he's not good enough and it's one of Pearson's major failings not replacing him after we were promoted. Agreed, it is mind-boggling how we didn't sign a LB
Leicester Lass Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 So why the need to keep banging on about it? Erm I'm not really banging on about anything?
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Is this the latest scapegoating thread? Babylon, take heed... The fact is Konchesky had ZERO support in front of him in that second half. Mourinho is a brilliant tactician, changed it up at half time, we couldn't cope with it. After we conceded early in the second half, I posted 'NOW we see if we can defend as a unit'. Unfortunately, we couldn't. I assume Konch will be blamed for the third goal too? How I saw it, that was another (albeit world-class) strike from the edge of our own penalty area, by a midfield player, which was completely unopposed. For me, losing King and Huth mattered big time last night.
BigMicky Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Erm I'm not really banging on about anything? Erm you brought up the same old rubbish that has been spouted in here for more months. He wasn't replaced for one reason or another, move on...
J.Lisemore Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I honestly think it'll be a sackable offence if NP doesn't bring in a better left-back in the summer.
cc_star Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I don't understand why Ramirez/Ivanovic and Willian doubling up on Konchesky with woefully inadequate cover from Cambiasso is Konchesky's fault. Of course two players are going to beat one, in the first half he had Willian quite well, but when Ivanovic got forward in the second with no cover from Cambiasso and James no use whatsoever, how is Konchesky supposed to stop two world class player alone Please tell me Where's the thread slating Cambiasso for not covering? Losing Huth was critical to Chelsea, their defence is best in the world at scoring and assists, we really needed his height and experience. Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic & Drogba looked giant in comparison to our team, with only Ulloa matching them

It's easier to put all the blame on one player, in this case, Konch...than it is to question how the team defends. Konch is nowt special. I prefer Schlupp. But last nights second half wasn't Konch's fault. It's just easy to blame him.
CKB Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 It's not just about last night with me, Konchesky has been poor for ages!

Leicester Lass Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Erm you brought up the same old rubbish that has been spouted in here for more months. He wasn't replaced for one reason or another, move on... I actually defended Konchesky (a comment similar to someone else who you've said is spot on) and then made one comment saying we should have replaced him. Hardly banging on is it. Jeez.
EGBFitness Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I think whoever we play in this position people are going to moan, it's a position we obviously need to strengthen in the summer. Unfortunately with Schlupps injury we are forced to play Konch, Burnley was a shocking performance from him IMO and looked like a fish out of water, Chelsea game was always going to be hard but personally think he looked the weak link again- in regards to cover he pulled a lot of our players out of position to support him, a lot of times we had CMs pushed over to support him rather than being able to pick up players like Fabregas who had acres of space due to it
MGLCFC Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Konch started the move that led to our goal - he looked like he was going to let it go out for a goal kick, but fooled their attacker - 7 passes later, we were one up. Yes his defensive side was exposed, but as others have said he had no protection, often 3 against one
