Babylon Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Konch was awful, yes he didn't get much help but his basics were poor all night. With that in mind, Pearson would have been better served changing formation or at least switching the CM's around so did didn't have two old codgers protecting the left hand side. I said before the game the 5 at the back wouldn't work due to the wide men getting pinned back and the cb's getting pulled over. Chelsea just pushed up their full backs second half as they had the whole pitched to run into and we didn't have enough men down the flanks to cover.
Babylon Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I thought Morgan was pretty good? Got pulled out of position for the first goal and had no idea where his man was for the second goal. The rest of it I thought he was ok.
Kitchandro Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Never thought I'd be desperate to see Schlupp back.
dannythefox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Thing is with schulpp he's still learning and as for konchesky he's passed his best hopefully we won't offer him another contract.
indierich06 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Paul Konchesky please do the hounarable thing and retire now. Last night him and Morgan were liabilities. Everytime Chelsea attacked they came down Konchesky's side. Watching him he was like a startled rabbit caught in the headlights. Newcastle and Qpr scouts watching us last night will know where our weak link is and will try to exploit it when we play them. I do fear for our survival hopes if he stays in the team? Message to Pearson bring moore into the centre of defence move Wasilewski to left back get rid of liability konchesky. Agree that's he's past it, but he's hardly going to retire mid-season. And unfortunately enough, we actually need him. He's been a decent player for the club but yep, he needs to go at the end of the season. If he's still playing for us next season, something's gone badly wrong.
Fox92 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Anytime someone with a bit of pace runs at Konchesky it's scary.
indierich06 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Anytime someone with a bit of pace runs at Konchesky it's scary. Anytime he goes to put a tackle in, I assume it will be a free kick or a pen and probably a yellow card. The bloke's had it.
ImBlue Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 People won't tell you... It's easier to put all the blame on one player, in this case, Konch...than it is to question how the team defends. Konch is nowt special. I prefer Schlupp. But last nights second half wasn't Konch's fault. It's just easy to blame him. Not his fault come on, I wasnt going to rip into him but he did nothing right. He was positionally horrible, got a silly booking, crossing (particularly one good move) was wasteful, got ripped for pace EVERY time. You talk sense sometimes but to say it wasn't his fault last night is bordering insane. Any football fan watching that game knew the weak link, just Chelsea exposed it more than others. All there goals came from that side (shot deflected out from play that side for corner). He's a liability. You're only as good as your weakest player.
RowlattsFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 We should have used the last sub to put someone in front of him. He's not a wing back. He was playing left back alongside a back 3. As I said in the ratings thread, the stupid yellow card he got meant he couldn't make a tackle after that with Willian running at him constantly.
Harry - LCFC Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Do you know how good Chilwell is? Or is this just the standard reaction of "not good enough, must replace" even though you have little idea whether the replacement will be any better?
Footballwipe Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 He'll be replaced in the summer, of course he will. It's got to the point where whenver he's on the ball I have no faith or confidence in him to do anything. Like others have said, why he was given the opportunity I'm not sure. I was a massive proponent of giving every title winning player a chance this season, but considering his age someone should've been bought in to counteract this outcome.

So now I'm insane for questioning why people want to lump the sole blame for last night's second half onto one player. A player that was doubled up on by two of the best players in the division. With little to no support. Yeah rite.
NewquayFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Its all about opinions, my opinion is that Konchesky is not good enough in this league while most on here think he is great and its every other players fault he looks rubbish week in week out. When do we give our talented youth & U/21 players a chance, hopefully not when its too late after more inept performances by a senior player....
lgfualol Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Can't wait to get a proper left back. We should give a minutes applause for how much £m they will cost.
filbertway Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Throwing Chilwell into such a high pressure situation seems a bit mental.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 We did just play the best team in the country last night right? And Paul was up against the best right back in the league the games MotM?
lgfualol Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Throwing Chilwell into such a high pressure situation seems a bit mental. yeah, we'll all regret it when we concede 10 goals from that side.

A player that was doubled up on by two of the best players in the division. With little to no support. Yeah rite. Yes he was doubled up on, but only because he was pathetically weak and slow. The few times hazard went down de laets side he got good tackles in. Might be the reason he switched to konch's side, because he wasn't even containing Willian 1 vs 1. You're only as good as your weakest player, and quite frankly he was targeted for a reason. He didn't look bad because he was targeted, he was targeted because he is bad.
cjslcfc Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 So now I'm insane for questioning why people want to lump the sole blame for last night's second half onto one player. A player that was doubled up on by two of the best players in the division. With little to no support. Yeah rite. I'm not sure I can see anywhere where people are lumping the sole blame for last night's second half on Konch. While I wholeheartedly disagree that Was at LB is a better option (see Was at RB vs. Sheff Weds (A) last season), I'm of the opinion that Konchesky is indeed past it and has been below the standard required for a PL left back for a long long time. Just because people criticise doesn't mean they are blaming him solely for the defeat. I thought Morgan got pulled out of position many times, embarrassingly lost Cahill for their 2nd goal and was absolutely bullied by Drogba in the 2nd half. In fact, as good as Chelsea's play was, our defending on the whole did also fall apart in the 2nd half. Their 3rd goal, 3 of our players are drawn to Hazard and not one of them tracks the run in behind from the other player who then tees it up for Ramires. I think it was no coincidence that this happened when King and Huth were off the pitch. That does worry me should they be injured for a while. None of this, however, hides the fact that Konchesky is out of his depth and is a liability/easy target for the opposition. Admittedly, we won't come up against much better combinations than Ivanovic and Willian. By all accounts, though, he was also poor vs. Burnley and managed to give away a penalty through either a lack of concentration or really slow thinking. He didn't get the right cover at times but my god his positioning is awful. So many times he got the wrong side of his man. (same with Drinkwater as well actually).
filbertway Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 yeah, we'll all regret it when we concede 10 goals from that side. It's not so much his ability that would worry me, it's what being in that kind of situation could do to a young lad. Any mistakes and the backlash in the media, or social media and from fans would be terrible. He'd be written off immediately by a good portion of the fan base.
cc_star Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 By the way I'm not saying Konchesky is good enough for what we need, but boy Cambiasso in front of him was so bad as soon as Chelsea's game clicked it was unbelievable. King's injury using up the sub for Cam was fatal
FourtyFour Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 he got pissed off with fans at the spurs game. he actually shushed us at one point. he's passed it now, but don't tell his mum....
