The Railway Man Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Think this is a bit harsh, he wasn't that bad and given Schulpp was torn to shreads by West Brom's winger at times I don't think he would have done too much better against Willian. We do need a new LB in the summer though, it's the weakest position we have.
Babylon Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 By the way I'm not saying Konchesky is good enough for what we need, but boy Cambiasso in front of him was so bad as soon as Chelsea's game clicked it was unbelievable. King's injury using up the sub for Cam was fatal The both of them were on a hiding to nothing in all honestly. Cambiasso was trying to cover the middle and the left, he's 34 and clearly that's going to be almost impossible. The left sided centre back needed to take up some more of the covering, but that left holes (see first goal). Not much point in blaming either player for last night, the tactics needed to change to provide that cover.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Can you please name a left-back in this league that can cope with Willian and Ramires? Agreed regarding last night, we can't just cite last night when they played so well as a unit, but over the season as a whole Morgan and Konchesky are a weak links, and it is glaringly obvious.
Suffolk exile Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 We were beaten by the better team - the main reasons for us not getting anything out of the game, was losing Huth and King. Had they played 90 minutes, it may well have been different. Also Konch did alright first half, second half it was easy for Chelsea, he was simply left completely exposed. Please don't forget Chelsea are the Champions and lead the league by 10 points - please keep things in perspective!

Will1981 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I thought Konchesky played quite good yesterday and was extremely unlucky not to score in the 1st half with Cech making a world class save onto the post. In the 2nd half Chelsea just put Willian and Ivanovic down the right and none of our midfielders tracked the Ivanovic when he went on the overlap. I do agree that his legs are gone and that is now a problem for him at fullback but Schlupp is definetly not the answer at leftback either as positionally he is nowhere near good enough or clever enough to play there. So in the summer whatever league we are in we need to sign 2 left-backs.
LCFCCKEANO Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Crazy idea here, I know, but how about we play the full backs we did vs Liverpool away... Simpson at rb and de laet lb, because Konchesky is absolute trash right now, hopefully its just bad form
Akinbiyi24 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 At the end of the day whats in it for Konchesky if we stay up. If we go down he will probably get another years contract.
BigMicky Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 How about we back the man blindly for the next four games. We need him like never before to perform. Slagging him in here and on the terraces isn't going to help anyone. Give the man your full support for 4 games, thats all, its not hard to do. The man was instrumental against West Ham which started the run let's not forget.
BigMicky Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 At the end of the day whats in it for Konchesky if we stay up. If we go down he will probably get another years contract. Personal/professional pride. Something you clearly have no understanding of.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I can't think of a left back in the world that wouldn't get ripped to bits by hazard, fabregas and willian without any cover. Sometimes Konchesky isn't very good, singling him out when we lose to the best team in the country isn't right. And those people who say he shouldn't be in the team, what else have we got?
Akinbiyi24 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Personal/professional pride. Something you clearly have no understanding of. You wouldn't be saying that if Burnley scored that penalty.

kingfox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 He is a liability & a total joke of a footballer. For me he needs to go before he tarnishes his reputation as a good servant for us, he had two consistent season's but now he is shocking most of the time he plays. Might be harsh but quite frankly, he shouldn't put on a Leicester shirt again.

Akinbiyi24 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 That makes no sense? Why? If that had gone in we would have lost the game. Konchesky is doing his best to get us relegated
Guest MattP Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Why? If that had gone in we would have lost the game. Konchesky is doing his best to get us relegated
BigMicky Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Why? If that had gone in we would have lost the game. Konchesky is doing his best to get us relegated Haha you must be a wum. How has giving a penalty away got anything to do with pride? Was it not Cambiasso who said he had "time" when he didn't on the ball? So who's fault is that?
MPH Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Paul Konchesky please do the hounarable thing and retire now. Last night him and Morgan were liabilities. Everytime Chelsea attacked they came down Konchesky's side. Watching him he was like a startled rabbit caught in the headlights. Newcastle and Qpr scouts watching us last night will know where our weak link is and will try to exploit it when we play them. I do fear for our survival hopes if he stays in the team? Message to Pearson bring moore into the centre of defence move Wasilewski to left back get rid of liability konchesky. Not the most helpful post after we have just been beaten by the champions elect for goodness sake. Not saying konchesky is world class by any stretch of the imagination but Newcastle and qpr can scout us all day but that doesn't mean they have the quality to get the ball out wide like Chelsea did or the quality to get it past him like Chelsea. We lost to Chelsea. We shouldn't need threads like this.

Gerard Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I think most of the criticism Konchesky gets and for that matter Morgan too is by sheep, the same sheep who thinks Cambiasso is beyond criticism. I don't know if most of you realise but Konchesky isn't our first choice left back any more, he's only playing because Schlupp is injured. I thought Konchesky had a reasonable game last time and certainly doesn't look out of his depth by any means at this level. As for the people championing Chilwell? I've never seen him play but your average England U19 player ends up in the lower leagues when they're at their peak ages so to throw him in against Newcastle is utter madness, if he was that good he'd already be in the first team squad.
Guest Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I'd like him upgraded next season but he's a million times better than DS on the other side.

Dr The Singh Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I can't believe Pearson ever thought he was good enough in the prem, to have him as our number 1 at the beginning, shows failings in Pearson's decision making and lack of experience at this level!! Who Drinkwater?Ring any bells? Drinkpoowater is another who hasn't fit the bill this season!!
