Bryn Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Cheers , it's lucky I'm a good runner then. I know you've said it's cruel, but you've not said why you think it's cruel. Are you serious? I'm not dignifying this cretinhood with a proper answer.
westernpark Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 You don't need to insult me. Just give a reason for you're opinion. How best would you deal with the vermin?
Bryn Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 You don't need to insult me. Just give a reason for you're opinion. How best would you deal with the vermin? I'd line you up against a wall and shoot you.
westernpark Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 That's fine. Do you have a gun licencse? Seriously though this is quite a contentious subject for either side, with lively hoods on the line. I was vegetarian for 12 years, I know views from either side, therefore I know my opinion is balanced.
Rincewind Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 It is ancient and barbaric. That is all you need to know. It was accepted in King Henry 8ths reign but so was chopping off his wive's heads.
leicsmac Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 There is no argument for fox hunting that cannot be adequately explained away. If you want to control them as pests, a good shotgun or hunting rifle will do the job much better and with more precision. If you want to protect livelihoods, scent hunting allows both hounds and horses to be used without the kill.

Stop pretending to be reasonable, making your living from facilitating the dismemberment and evisceration of a terrified living creature is unacceptable, they can get themselves down the job centre.
westernpark Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 That's fine, your opinion is your opinion. I hope we don't scrap the post horn gallop.
Finnegan Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 That's fine, your opinion is your opinion. I hope we don't scrap the post horn gallop. Why do you think the post horn gallop is called the post horn gallop?
The Railway Man Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 I wonder how many commenting on here have ever been near a hunt? Tear the fox to shreads alive? Complete nonsense spouted by people who know nothing about it, the lead hound will get it the same way a Jack Russell will get a rat, by the neck, and a quick snap and it's dead. The same way that a fox will attempt to kill it's prey. The intent is not to kill but control, the hounds spread the fox population are so they do not inter breed, they spread the foxes to new areas so they do not become lax and bother the farmers stock. Thru cull out any old or injured but that is so a healthy and thriving population survive.
The Railway Man Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Tally Ho old chap. Let's go and have some jolly old fun and rip a foxe's throat apart. Comments like this just show the class prejudice that is often behind the anti hunt lobby. You hate the middle/upper classes so much you think they all do this so you become blind to any logical argument, hunting is done by people of all class throughout the countryside.

There are more humane ways to satisfy every practical purpose (and yes, it does have some) a fox hunt would have.

I am also opposed to cockrell fighting and dog fighting and bull fighting. Class has nothing to do with it. Why not bring throwing Christians to the lions back, or the stocks while we are at it. Foxhunting is outdated and has no place in the 21st century..I do know foxhunting involves all kinds of people, the same as grouse shooting. They have people to go and ruffle bushes so the the birds fly out and make easier targets for the shooters. There are stable lads and dog handlers. So don't try and accuse me of class predjudice.

And the Tory toffs will spend hours on repealing the act while passing other acts in the background which should be known to the public. The English country gentleman galloping after a fox -- the unspeakable in full pursuit of the uneatable. Oscar Wilde. Tally Ho old chap. Let's go and have some jolly old fun and rip a foxe's throat apart. If you keep on being accused of something if's often the case it's close to the truth. Nothing wrong with it Ken, we all have our prejudices and yours are Tories, Toffs, Bankers, the Rich etc - It's not a secret to anyone so don't worry about it.
Finnegan Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 My father used to say: "The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle.
ADK Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 I don't think Rincewind is particularly prejudiced. I often refer to "toffs" but I don't see that as a social "class" any more than "chavs" are a social class. Does referring to "chavs" mean I'm prejudiced?

It was not the 'class 'thing so much as the accusing me of using it as an excuse to be against the sport.I am against foxhunting because it is cruel and barbaric the same as not allowing someone to have a fair trial. You do not see foxhunting in the cities being done by staties. Have you ever seen the film The Shooting Party (?) It is set just before the outbreak of the WW1

They're all cvnts.
Rincewind Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Cant find a link to the film I'm thinking of. Sure it was a book too. All I am getting is an albumn by Linkin Park and an American film. I'm not predjudice against the Tories but certain type of people. Hypocrites who claim expense for toilet rolls, TV license etc then tell people they should not expect things for nothing. Just because many happen to be Tories is purely coincidence. I also find it hard to like people who think they are better than anyone else. Much like celebrities who say 'Do you know who I am?.when refused free admission to somewhere or told there are no tables at a restaurant.

Rincewind Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Yes it exists Matt. It is called The Shooting Party. This is the official trailer. The full film can also be seen on YouTube. https://youtu.be/JqtrD38bF6k
