    • Yes, but I'm not a sadist. I will explain why in my post below.

What about angling? Anybody want to ban that?

Mind that slope Webs, looks a bit slippery to me.

As for the topic itself, I'm with Finn (as you might expect) - there's no moral argument for foxhunting. You want people to stay in jobs, you do a hunt using just scent rather than an actual animal. You want to keep the fox population down - that's what shotguns are for, not chasing some poor fvcking terrified critter for a few miles just to see it get cornered and ripped in half.

Yes, the same lot that wanted fox hunting banned. What  they also did was break into that place that breeds mink near tamworth and freed all the mink, which promptly made their way to the river trent and they ate all the fish, still they look cute.

A poor terrified perch, ripped out of it's natural habitat by a sharp hook through it's mouth, then kept in a crowded keep net for hours on end.

"Tory Toffs" Ken, Tory Toffs. lol

'Labour  lefties' Matt Labour lefties.

It was the 'wasting countless hours when there were  more important issues ' part that I was paroding. Being Toffs is irrelevant.

I'm not arrogant enough to assume you should read every word I post (honest) so I'll iterate, I'm not anti-hunting, I'm anti blood sport.

You want to catch a fish or even shoot a deer? You knock yourself out.

Ripping a living creature to shreds (after chasing it shit scared for hours) for literally no reason besides entertainment is ridiculous.

If you think that's even vaguely comparable to scooping a fish out of a pond and then chucking it back then I'm not bothering to have the discussion with you. You're either fishing (wahey!) for cheap replies or you're genuinely thick.

Have you no compassion?

Have you two morphed into one?

It was a bit embarrassing that. In my defence I said it first :D

There are plenty of comparisons to fox hunting. There are plenty of other blood sports, almost all of which are illegal (I don't think ANY are legal in the UK are they? Unless I'm missing something obvious.)

You shouldn't need to be told that angling is not a blood sport.

Although, according to Wikipedia, "octopus wrestling" is an actual thing. ****ing wow. lol

Only foxes we should be hunting are the foxy ladies on a night out in Leicester town imo.

More dogs than foxes, in that scenario lol

I don't recall saying I would defend fox hunting, I was quite happy when it was banned.  In the main I think the ban hasn't had too much impact on the activity itself, just mainly taken the dead fox out of it at the end.

So why did you mention it if it had nothing to do with it?

That isn't challenging what I wrote, Webbo.

I'm not saying "THE POSH PEOPLE" brought class in to the argument, I'm saying the argument exists because those with more power, wealth and influence enjoy the sport. Ergo, you can't have the discussion without acknowledging the presence of class.

Hence why we still debate fox hunting but not badger baiting.

The frivolous, crass, classist abuse is, however, admittedly just being proactive for the sakes of it.

(For the record, I felt Ronnie contradicted himself and I didn't agree with his entire post.)

Was it because I said posh twats? Probably shouldn't have used that word, because as you say it didnt help my point. For what it's worth, I have no bias regarding any class.

why not comment on the more relevant part of the post instead of cricising a couple of words that were added for humour?

OK a straightforward reply to replace the original with no satirical swipes at your mates.

So why is it wrong for Labour to waste time debating abolishing fox hunting and  OK for  the Tories to waste time debating on bringing it back?

Because labour used the ban on fox hunting amongst many other things as part of  an anti tory policy in order to win the 2005 election by not promoting what they were going to do but instead alienate the opposition in the eyes of the electorates by casting them as evil hoo-ha henries poncing around the country and setting packs of wild dogs on cute little defenceless critters , whereas the tories are debating whether or not the act should be repealed because they believe, rightly or wrongly, in the freedom to hunt.

Thing is though the tories will use the arguement, and back it up with stats, that the Fox population is increasing, but that's only the case in towns and not in rural areas where the hunts are. It's purely down to the amount of waste we now leave out.

When I worked security one place I worked was a car showroom on Abbey Lane. There used to be a fox come and visit at night. The thing was another officer who also did the site used to feed it so it came right up to the door.Even ate cake. Not quite tame enough as to eat out of hands but close to it I tried not to encourage it partly for that reason and also it may breed with offspring also tame.

Used to see a fox or two early in the morning on the way home from a night shift.Once saw one chasing a cat.

Have you heard foxes howl?

I have heard several excuses defending fox hunting. The fox is not caught often.Only the weak ones are caught just two.

An ex-neighbour once worked as a nurse at a hospital in Leicestershire (Radcliffe?) and she said one of the hunts to to cut across the grounds.Very distressing for staff and patients.
