foxfanazer Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 ...Which would make Graham Taylor look like Sir. Alf Ramsey. Why?
Dickov22 Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Sheffield Wednesday once they inevitably sack the random they've appointed
Mark_w Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Sheffield Wednesday once they inevitably sack the random they've appointed Nigel Pearson should not settle for Sheffield Wednesday. A side in a relegation battle in the Premier League will want him before this season's over.
SpacedX Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Why? Apologies - I'm not intentionally deflecting here, I'm genuinely mystified. Let me respond by reversing the question by asking you respectfully, why you believe that the appointment of Nigel Pearson as England Manager would be a sensible decision?
Guest MattP Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Up to him, a side at the top of the Championship will want him before Xmas (in fact I bet a few chairmen are already sounding him out) - if he doesn't fancy that one of the sides in the relegation battle in this division will fancy him given what he achieved last year.

MPH Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 My concern is that people will think he's an escape artist when the reality is that those last 9 games were the result of 3+ years of meticulous team building. He'd do well if he started the season soonish and got his own team in but joining a prem team outside of a transfer windo really wouldn't work for him.. He's a prem quality manager but he's also a team builder and I hope he doesn't find out the hard way that prem chairmen are less patient than championship chairmen. Well he just has a guess but anyhow....

Never mind

Well he just has a guess but anyhow.... He is an escape artist, I think that's beyond doubt. He was at Carlisle for their Jimmy Glass Great Escape , was the Southampton boss when they overhauled us to stay up against the odds, was part of the team at West Brom that survived from bottom place on the last day and now we can add the greatest escape of them all whilst in charge of Leicester City. But yeah, in addition to being an escape artist he's also a brilliant manager who given time can build squads that progress every season and win Championships.
Max Power Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Allardyce is top of the list for struggling Prem teams next season. Probably why he's waiting it out, he knows the more desperate the more he can earn. Don't see Pearson being THAT attractive. He has kept one side up, a side he built, he's not a Houdini figure. Plus he's mental.

foxfanazer Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Yeah a Premier League club is going to realy care he kept Carlisle in the football league nearly 20 years ago.and Southampton?
Guest MattP Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Yeah a Premier League club is going to realy care he kept Carlisle in the football league nearly 20 years ago. Sorry, I didn't realise that was the argument you were making when you said he had only ever kept one side up. I thought you meant that he had only ever kept one side up.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 There's a lot of shit nuggets floating about that I thought had been flushed.

drofmor56 Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 The Championship is often talked of as a league where its so competitive any team can beat another...under Pearson we only lost 1 out of our last 28 ( and then a few of the players were carrying hangovers )...103 points i believe ?...there is a lot more to him than an escape artist !
Bettsj2 Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 He's a long term manager not a quick fix merchant so not sure who he'd really fit. Championship side floating in or around the top 10. Brighton or Blackburn perhaps.
Stevosevic Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Wonder id Bruce is a little worried Can you imagine?
Bagworthblue Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 We all talk about Pearson and his success but it is clear Pearson Shaky and Walsh combined(+ the team of technical scouts etc) are the reason for our success Pearson - Leader 1st, motivator 2nd and technical coach 3rd Shaky - motivator and technical coach Walsh scout / technical coach I'm not sure that Pearson with a different team will have the same success. To retain the strong elements of the team we have left, we must make them an offer they cannot refuse and potentially give Shaky the target and development to become our next leader by learning from Guus. Pearson will struggle for success IMO without his whole team but it is whether their loyalty can be bought by us in terms of monetary and career incentives
