Lets Protest!

Recommended Posts

The way the modern football fan bows down and worships the feet of their own clubs owners no matter what they do really is strange, a lot genuinely seemed scared to air or even hold an opinion against them in case they decide to up and leave, something they can't actually do anyway.

It really is quite sickening to have to watch when you come from a generation of fans who used to try and hold them to account.

that is one point of view - another might be that the 100 million or so they have sunk into the club has bought them the right to work with someone they are comfortable with and entrust with shedloads of transfer funds secure in the knowledge that the management and players conduct themselves with some dignity

Can we stop assuming that 'this generation' are all idiots who are happy being walked over please.

Not idiots but let's face it the current generation seem disinterested in protesting anything at all.

So you support hounding the owners because they've sacked Pearson for a reason we don't know? What if it turns out Pearson has been assaulting the staff?

Maybe he was shagging the ball boys as well? Maybe we should never criticise anything as anything could happen.

What I did mention though is that we do not know what goes on behind closed doors. We don't know the full facts behind the decision, so demanding a refund for a season ticket seems stupid.

They would indeed have to sell the club to someone else. But the next owner could want to pick the team for the manager, have us playing in red and re name us Leicester Lions!

Would it not be harder for the next owner of we fans proved that we will make our voices heard. I for one have earned it over 20+ years of supporting our club. My dad was a fan and his dad too. The owners have done well so far but they need to know that WE ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF LEICESTER CITY FC

I don't, but there are certainly far far many of those around these days than used to be.

No-one's suggested 'hounding them out' - is it not possible to criticise their decisions, or to ask for clarity around their decision making process? Is it not ok to be pissed off that they've sacked a manager who's led us to 14th in our first season back in the Premier League, without telling us why aside from some empty platitudes? And how would you suggest making this displeasure clear to them?

Maybe the 170 million Pearson has sunk into the club with the two PL seasons he has delivered earns him a few things as well?

But some people have been saying all day that Pearson leaving isn't the end of the world and that our next manager could take us on to the next level. Why, when we're talking about new owners, is it always 'better the devil you know'?

And if the owners refuse to make their reasons for sacking the manager clear, then they can't really expect the fans to be satisfied with that?

Better the devil you know? I think the owners have in general been excellent like everyone was saying one month ago.

Because of the job Pearson has done.

The time our owners have been here while Pearson hasn't they've looked deluded, moronic and incapable of making sensible decisions.

Their money hasn't bought them the right to do as they wish with the football club though, with no transparency or explantions for the tens of thousands of people who fork over their hard earned cash to watch the team every week. This isn't King Power FC, it's Leicester City FC. And without those fans, these owners would have nothing.

Why 100 odd? The fans DO have a say when they get over the 'yeah, like we can make a difference' type of thinking.

AFC Wimbledon?

Wimbledon fans did so well stopping their board moving their club that they had to form a new team in a far lower division, hardly a great example to use of positive results from fans protests.

But surely just voicing your opinion is good enough.  Not every protest is rewarded.

If you want your voice heard then write them a letter. Protests and negative feelings can spread and effect the players, new management etc.

I don't agree with protesting against the decision, however I do think they have a duty to let us know exactly what the reasons are.

So be it, there's a bigger picture..  Their actions will have consequences.

Whilst I don't agree with the decision, a protest will not bring him back I'm afraid.

Quite likely. But that's not entirely the point. I do not pretend to know what has been said behind closed doors - but if in 5 years time we have a very successful manager who upsets the owners' sensibilities somehow, I want them to reflect that the fans will make a noise if they put personality or politics above the long term success of the club.

But that doesn't mean we should accept without question any of their poor decisions - and there have been quite a few - because potential new owners 'could be worse'.

Maybe he was. Point was we don't know so criticising the owners for making a stand over an unknown issue is more than a bit pointless. When the owners come out and say "oh it was nothing really, we were just a bit bored and fancied a change" then I would expect everyone to criticise. But it's obvious something serious has gone on.

Protest over what?? We don't know the details yet,

It's been a dodgy few weeks for this club so lets see if anything comes to light once the dust settles

Are you forgetting about wiping out the debt, vastly improving the training ground and facilities at the ground, small nice touches like the free beer, breakfast, DVDs, shirts etc that they didn't have to do?

Posted

Its not the end of the world, I have kinda come to terms with it now. The only reason for me to get pissed off now is if they appoint some half wit from the managers recycle bin,

Then release a statement to that effect and we all say "OK, fair enough". Nobody has said anything about driving the owners away. But we should make our voices heard. There is a difference

Oh they gave me breakfast, they can do what they like to the team I support now.
