A Message to Nigel Pearson

Two points of the play offs, yet he still got sacked! Grossly unfair, and yes the groundwork had all been done prior to Pearson's arrival.

My message to Pearson, is to stop his ridiculous off field antics, or he will end up in hot water again.

But winning the Championship or finishing 14th in the Premier League isn't?

Prune the squad? We were a QPR-style mess, spunking a staggering amount on wages for avergae players like Mills and Beckford.

NP took 2 and a half years to sort out the mess.

The amount of money the owners were wasting shouldn't have made any difference to the manager's ability to manage the squad, so although I agree the owners wasted a lot of money I don't really see how that's relevant when assessing Pearson's performance?

Here's the Wiki page for our 13-14 Championship-winning season: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013%E2%80%9314_Leicester_City_F.C._season

In the player appearances list, of the players who made 10+ appearances, I count 16 signed or promoted from the youth team by Pearson.

Only 3 players from the Sven era made 10+ appearances: Schmeichel, Konchesky & Nugent (plus King who appeared before both but became a regular under NP).

Inconvenient things, facts. :D

That doesn't prove sven left us in a mess though. We were two points off the play offs. In footballing terms, we were not in a mess.

Pearson took two and a half years to take that squad and turn it into championship winners. A very good achievement, no doubt.

MON achieved a similar feat in what, four months?

MON achieved a similar feat in what, four months?

MON also took over a just relegated team who were in the top 2 or 3 in the league at the time. Not one who were in league one, or one that were 13th in the league having just been spanked 3-0 at home by Millwall, with a load of players who were overpaid and frankly useless, and that opinion has been pretty much been shown as true considering their career decline since leaving, in fact 13th in the Championship currently looks pretty good compared to where they all ended up.

MON did exceptionally well, but managed in a very different era, when the right manager could achieve instant success by organising and motivating a mainly limited bunch of players - and could take them to the top half of the Premier and European football. 20 years earlier, Clough could take a second tier team to the league title and European Cup within 3 years. Such achievements are becoming ever harder - as shown by the fact that we were the only promoted club to survive last season.

Ignore the suggestion of "mess" and excessive spending for now. Sven did indeed leave us 2 points off the play-offs....in 13th place in the Championship, having just lost 0-3 at home to Millwall.

Ask yourself what the players discarded by Pearson have achieved since: Peltier, Bamba, St. Ledger, Johnson, Wellens, Abe, Beckford, Weale, Pantsil, Vassell?

Now ask yourself what the squad mainly assembled by NP has achieved since: Play-offs; Record-breaking Championship title; Premier League survival, concluding with 7 wins & 1 draw in 9, and not losing a game by 3 goals all season, never mind losing 0-3 at home to Millwall!

NP Era 1: Overhauled relegated squad, won L1 title, Championship play-offs on a shoestring

Sven: Overhauled play-off squad at vast expense, narrowly missed play-offs, left us 2pts outside play-offs in 13th place, losing 0-3 to Millwall

NP Era 2: Overhauled Sven's squad, narrowly missed play-offs, achieved play-offs, won Championship title with 102pts, achieved miraculous Premier League survival

Are people still banging on about Sven?

Sven left us in a right bloody mess.

Over time, Pearson sorted the bloody mess out.

As an out and out football manager I'd take Nigel Pearson over ten Svens.

This club has a massive amount to thank Pearson for. The squad he inherited DID have some decent players in it, but was so disjointed it was unreal. There was no cohesion, no plan, no width...and the shambles at home to Millwall was one of the worst Leicester City performances in my living memory.

It was clear to anyone who wanted to see that Sven did not have a scooby. Despite spending more that season than even West Ham, we were going backwards, not forwards.

Pearson came in, got rid of the rubbish, stamped his authority and GRADUALLY assembled his own squad.

My biggest thanks to Pearson actually goes on sorting out Sven's debacle.

Have we lost by 3 goals or more since that Milwall game?

1-4 at home to Brighton in the Championship winning season (the famous "hungover" performance!)

2-5 at Chelsea in the FA Cup 3 years ago

There seems to be a little campaign going on to remove as much credit as they can from what Pearson did here.

I don't think I can quite express how much that made me laugh. All the other trolls should bow before you.

NP just needs to take care of himself and be flexible enough to realise that perhaps some of antics were a tad silly. He doesn't want his attitude to forever over shadow his ability.

I don't think so. Everyone knows Pearson did a good job. I think some people just get a little carried away when comparing him to the best ever or that his achievements were somehow unbelievable.

We had a very good budget for both the League One campaign and the era of King Power. However you need a good manager to be able to convert that into promotions, and Nigel is clearly that.

You are wrong to suggest it was much easier to get into the top half then. The Premier League money had started and it was very similar to now if you look below the top 4.

Teams like Stoke, Southampton and Swansea can make the top half now so it certainly is not a lot harder now.

That's garbage.

The campaign is against the owners/Ranieri. The knives were put before he has even been confirmed.

How is it that you, Viva and Frank fail to understand that we feel greater affection for Pearson than the owners?

Pearson built the team. Pearson pushed for improvement in training facilities and sports science. Pearson (or his team) identified players to buy. Pearson picked the team week in week out. Pearson secured better and better finishes year on year.

Anybody who has actually gone to games week in week out for the last 10 years as opposed to just becoming interested again because of the Premier League should have affection for him.

Yes the owners should receive credit for funding us in the last few years, but that is no more than other owner has done for any other club that isn't Blackpool. If your missus takes you on a suprise weekend away to Paris you don't go thanking her employers for employing her a few years previous and paying her.

As for not sacking Nige, how can you congratulate them for NOT doing something? In fact they should have been lambasted for hiring and firing within the hour during last season for subjecting Nige to that bollocks and the media attention that came with it. In fact Nige protected THEIR interests by not revealing anything to the world about their fumbling indecision and lack of unity.

Nigel did the business for us on the ground level, which is the level we the fans are at when we go every week.

Don't tell fans to just be on board with the owners when they have sacked a man nobody wanted to be sacked or expected to be without offering an explanation.

As for Ranieri. Respect and affection has to be earned. He has done **** all for us yet and people are kissing his arse and telling us he is a better manager than Pearson.

Well you keep on with your love for Pearson. It won't get you anywhere. He's gone and won't be coming back.

Like in a broken relationship. Eventually you just have to move on!

And don't start spouting on about you being a bigger fan blah blah blah because people disagree with you. You know nothing about me and how many games I've to.

If, as the official line informs us, Pearson was sacked for 'non footballing' related matters, he really has only himself to blame. For this alone, gives me reason to still be angry at him.

His achievements were very good, that is without question. Whether he could have gone on to achieve more, we'll never know now. It's this which is the most frustrating part of this whole mess.

Polite request; Can we keep the discussions about Pearson's sacking in the Pearson sacked thread please. I know I'm as guilty as anyone but we're discussing the same thing in about 4 different threads and it's not fair on the OPs.

Yes, I have to agree with you here. Survival rates and mobility within the league were pretty much the same if you look at past tables.

How on earth do you know whether he has only himself to blame? That works on the assumption that everyone who is ever sacked deserves to be sacked. And even if he is to blame, it doesn't mean the decision was in our club's best interests. Maybe Derby were still bleating about Clough only having himself to blame when Forest were picking up their second European Cup.

You twats realise he'll never reads this thread. He despises foxestalks and especially hates everyone who posts on it. He wanted to shuts the forum down because he said it was full of dickheads, who are me, so fvck me, why don't we all show Nigels what she means to us by making this threads the bests thread of his life. Yeah?
