lestajigs Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Your total love for Pearson is swaying your opinion quite a bit! Can you not remember O'Neill got us promoted too? Along with establishing us a a comfortable top half Premier League team and winning 2 trophies? I don't think you can compare the two. This
kimsalabim Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 He has a greater win percentage because most it was in League One or the Championship! O'Neill was top flight apart from the year he took us up. You are a bit too blinded by the current i'm afraid. He could only do what's put in front of him, and how many mangers in today's game have gone up through 2 divisions? As i just stated, I hold the achievements of both in the same regard. Both were incredible. This Both. In. Same. Regard. 3rd time I have said it now.
BlueSi13 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 He has a greater win percentage because most it was in League One or the Championship! O'Neill was top flight apart from the year he took us up. You are a bit too blinded by the current i'm afraid. Loved O'Neill but he took up a club that was in the Premier League the year before. The foundations were there. Pearson took a club at rock bottom and improved us year-on-year-on-year to where we are now. Who knows where he could have taken us if he'd been allowed to continue his work.
Tielemans63 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I always forget that you can't appreciate what both Nige and O'Neill did for this club. You have to pick one or the other.
kimsalabim Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I always forget that you can't appreciate what both Nige and O'Neill did for this club. You have to pick one or the other. This.
MC Prussian Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Let's not get too carried away with the love-in. He certainly was not the best we've ever had! Well, that we'll never know now...
biggs Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Your total love for Pearson is swaying your opinion quite a bit! Can you not remember O'Neill got us promoted too? Along with establishing us a a comfortable top half Premier League team and winning 2 trophies? I don't think you can compare the two. People are comparing the two which goes to show how revered Pearson is to many on here. Some on here seem to have the same love affair the Thais have for Pearson and are blinded by the mannerism's of the man, dismissing his undeniable accomplishments. I liked both managers and both to me are top notch.
Tielemans63 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 This. It's ridiculous mate. I've just read back through your original post again (agree with every word btw) and you didn't even mention O'Neill. You didn't even say that NP was the best manager we've ever had. You just stated, quite correctly, that NP did a great job. The response to your post really was quite bizarre.
Izzy Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I always forget that you can't appreciate what both Nige and O'Neill did for this club. You have to pick one or the other. Well said that man. Now can we all stop kissing Nigel's arse, agree MON is the best Manager we've ever had, and close the thread?
chicagofox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Well, that we'll never know now... Of course we'll know if he was the best manager we've ever had. His time as manager has passed and he isn't.
EnglishOxide Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Thank you Nige. A true Leicester legend. You gave us our pride back. You took us from our lowest ebb to our current one. You turned the club upside down. Your teams never stopped fighting. Under you reign totalling six years I don't recall ever losing a game by more than 2 goals. That is the mark of a truly professional manager. Yes he was brash at times, but so was Clough, Ferguson, Mourinho, Wenger. Results on the pitch and at the end of each season is the ONLY thing that matters. Nigel delivered every time and then some. Union FS definitely need to do a tifo saying thank you. ****ing hero. And if you can't appreciate what he had done for this club, then kindly **** off out of this thread.
chicagofox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Yes he was brash at times, but so was Clough, Ferguson, Mourinho, Wenger. And that is where any comparison between Nigel Pearson and those other four managers begins and ends.
Tielemans63 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Some on here seem to have the same love affair the Thais have for Pearson you are aware of recent events concerning Nige and the Thais arent you? , do agree with the rest of your post though.
EnglishOxide Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 And that is where any comparison between Nigel Pearson and those other four managers begins and ends. They were hugely successful in terms of the context of where there club was when they took over and what they were expecting to achieve. Just like Nigel for Leicester. Unless you seriously expected us to win the PL and Champions League in the last few years?
kimsalabim Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 And that is where any comparison between Nigel Pearson and those other four managers begins and ends. Okay, so let's compare him to Craig Levein, Ian Holloway, Rob Kelly, Paolo Sousa, Peter Taylor and Sven then?
Tielemans63 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Well said that man. Now can we all stop kissing Nigel's arse, agree MON is the best Manager we've ever had, and close the thread? fair play. Made me laugh anyway! Listen, I love them both. O'Neill probably does shade it slightly but I'm still massively grateful for what Pearson has done for this club and I'm absolutely gutted he's been sacked. I can't understand why some people seem to find this a problem.
biggs Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 you are aware of recent events concerning Nige and the Thais arent you? , do agree with the rest of your post though. My point was people have such a dislike for Pearson's mannerism's that they refuse to acknowledge his managerial accomplishments.....maybe didn't quite read the way I was trying to express
kimsalabim Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I can't split the two. Both special times, loved both of their tenures and successes equally. Or is that not allowed?
chicagofox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I never ever expect us at any point now or in the future to win the Premier League or Champions League. Yes he did a better job for Leicester City than those other managers mentioned.
Voll Blau Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I can't split the two. Both special times, loved both of their tenures and successes equally. Or is that not allowed? NO MATE WE DONT; SUPPORT NIGEL O MARTIN NEILL PEARSON FC WE SUPPORT LEICESTER CITY FC
Tielemans63 Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 My point was people have such a dislike for Pearson's mannerism's that they refuse to acknowledge his managerial accomplishments.....maybe didn't quite read the way I was trying to express I know what you meant mate, that one line just made me laugh. Totally agree with your point though. It does seem some people cannot see beyond their disdain for NP the man.
sylofox Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Nigel is gone long live the king. Just as MON did Time to back the new man and hope he does a job.
MC Prussian Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Of course we'll know if he was the best manager we've ever had. His time as manager has passed and he isn't. Cautious! You never know - he might be tempted to come back a third time. Unfinished business and all. As of right now, we'll never know because he got the sack before the got to tackle his first full PL season as a proper top-flight manager, with a squad that he assembled for most part and that played their lungs out for the manager - a team united by the will to survive.
Alf Bentley Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 NP has so much to be proud of over the last 7 years: - L1 Championship at first time of asking; Play-offs twice; Championship title with 102 points; The greatest escape; - What was the 09-10 team that finished 5th in the Championship: Weale, Morrison, Brown, Hobbs, Berner, Oakley, King, Wellens, Dyer, Howard, Fryatt (approx)? Arguably the biggest achievement of the lot! - Recruiting players who played for one another, for the team and for the fans; - Trying, and usually succeeding in playing attractive football - LCFC youth teamers making the 1st team; A non-league player turned into an England international; free transfer signings, loanees & recruits from the lower leagues here & abroad, all making a contribution - Recruiting Cambiasso, a world-class professional and joy to behold (with a passing mention for the classy Tunchev in L1) - Doing sound financial deals, often bargains, often with sell-on value - Emotional rollercoasters and moments of extraordinary drama (some bad, more good) - Building a squad many of whom chose to stay for several years, in an era when many do not - Running a squad where players almost never whinged to the media - Realising the importance of fitness in avoiding injuries & building a team that can compete for 95 mins - Having the gall/courage to ignore the cliche that you shouldn't "go back", particularly after his mistreatment in 2010, and make a success of it - Refusing to play the bland media game Thanks for giving our club so much over the past 7 years, Nigel! A lot of people will always give you a warm, grateful and respectful welcome back. Those are mighty big white trainers to fill, Claudio. Hope you're up to the job!
Wymsey Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Hope his lawyers/media people read this thread and pass it onto him. He'll be emotional and overwhelmed.
