What's Up With People?

Do you think people should always be sacked by their employer whenever they commit a crime then?

I think it depends on the crime.  I'm happy to look the other way when the 'crime' is an act which I simply see no malice or social harm in (speeding in many cases, or the consumption of arbitrarily criminalised plants for instance), but you'll have your work cut out to convince me that strangling a woman is on a par with those.

Don't try and weasel your way out of it, I asked you a question.

Depends on how you're defining strangle and throttle I suppose. He didn't kill the player, but he did put his hands around his neck and that alone was at best very weird behaviour.

Fine, I've no intention of trying to convince you of that.

That's a relief lol

I think you're probably right about the club waiting for the result of Simpson's appeal before acting though, so he may yet be sacked.

Think/hope you're both right about this.

At last, some perspective. I like it.

I like to use the English language mate. Its an international language with clear definitions. Its not a matter of yours or my opinion.

If we are in agreement that he didn't strangle anybody, then we can also be in agreement that you are using the term 'throttle' in a deliberately provokative manner to supplement your clear anti-Pearson agenda.

Fine we'll rule out a literal interpretation of throttle and strangle and just describe it as Pearson putting his hands around someone's neck as if to strangle them in an act seen by many fans and the wider public as at best utterly bizarre.

We lost Cambiasso and Matty James (for a while.)

It's not chaos around Leicester, It is at Villa and it already was - to solve Villa's worries they needed to inject some attack minded midfielders which they sort of have with Scott Sinclair, they need an attacking CM and a ST who will score 15 goals a season. They could quite easily bid 15m for Charlie Austin, and he may go of they offer him enough, and Villa shouldn't struggle in replacing Benteke on the cheap tbh.

Leicester's problem from last season during the slump, and even in the good periods was and has been the midfielders, specifically the CMs when it comes to possession, distribution, tackling, marking, hold-up play, basic passing... scoring... assist / chance creation - for the most part our midfielders were dreadful, the amount of times Matty James made a darting run and had a chance to score and fluffed it is amazing, Cambiasso, although sheer quality, showed signs of weakness in a team under the koch with his marking and positioning tracking back. The real loss with Cambi is the passing and distribution we'll lose without him. DD was sub-par, King was the only attack minded, but due to constantly being pegged back throughout the season, he became invisible when the ball was in possession of the other team; dangerous on it, too weak without it.

The main criticism from my perspective of Leicester through that rut period, and the few lucky weeks prior was the lack of talented holding midfielders capable of taking the ball off of opposition CAMs, and taking the ball forward looking for an outlet. It was all well and good in the 4-4-2 Championship when DD and MJ were up against the mediocre of the mediocre, but in the PL with 4-2-3-1 formations, our CMs were consistently found out and often embarrassed against the possession heavy teams, whether that was in a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, we were still punished for our lack of quality. When we switched to 3-4-1-2 it covered up our CMs more than anything, protected the middle of the park by allowing an extra CB to push the opposing CM out, and the man in the whole to do the same when needed.

Leicester need quality CMs, a defensive midfielder, and an attack minded midfielder who can also hold up play get back and tackle, I fear we'll slump back into a losing streak if we play 4-4-2 with our current midfielders. I'm not confident going into the season w/ a formation of 4-4-2 without two new CMs, if we don't have either then we can forget it because Ranieri will know the weak spot and cover it up.

It was bizarre as touchline incidents go, but on no level should it be described as throttling or strangling. If that happened on a training pitch nobody would care.

I can think of much worse touchline incidents in the recent past, Pardew grabbing a linesman, swearing at Pellegrini, Wenger shoving Mourinho, Mourinho poking someone's eye out, any time Neil Lennon is on the touchline.

I'd rather we be patient with our signings and only buy for places we need improvement and at the right price.

Much prefer our approach than say Watford who look like they're gonna be signing more than 10 players.

This! I would rather us take our time and sign 3 quality players than panic and buy 6 average players. Fuchs, okazaki and Huth are all excellent signings and 3 more of this kind of class and we will be fine. I remember everyone getting excited when Sven went mad and signed loads of players and that ended well. John Pantsil and Michael Ball. Not to mention the money spunked on Mills and Beckford. Although he did sign Kasper and Nuge I suppose.

2 top centre mids and maybe another winger and I think we'll be fine. Possibly a right back depending on what system CR wants to play.

Kasper and Nuge were good signings from Sven.

I cannot understand the sudden change in poster's views!

At the end of last season, most people were saying we didn't need much in the way of new players. Now, since the Pearson sacking, and missing out on Cambiasso for the coming season, panic appears to be creeping in, with a number of posters saying the squad is rubbish, and that we need a good few signings. Apart from  one decent player leaving, nothing on the playing side has changed, apart from two new signings.

Why this sudden commotion, especially as we all know there will be new signings?

Because we've lost Cambiasso, because we've got rid of a manager and replaced him with one who is quite clearly different in the way he does things.

I'm amazed how optimistic some people are about this season. We're living dangerously.

We will play with either Nuge or Okazaki behind the strikers to cover over the CM shortage, I think, until our eventual signings bed in.  I also think Drinkwater needs to resume his trajectory from the promotion season.  This is his big chance to step up I think.

Rather than Mahrez who ended the season there and who started against Lincoln there? Also, not sure, but I thought Okazaki plays primarily as a centre forward? I know he played as a winger at Stuttgart, and suffered because of it, but has he ever played as an attacking midfielder? The only person I've seen suggest it was an enthusiastic fan of him on here who said they thought he might do well there

Because last season Pearson recognised we needed a CM and that Kingy, Drinky and Jamesy maybe needed help. Cambiasso was available, he looked at McArthur too. Now Cambiasso has gone and none of the other 3 showed they're capable of stepping up. Drinkwater vanished and was a shadow of the POTY winner he'd been the season before, James had moments but didn't exactly pull up any trees, didn't score and wasn't particularly creative until the run-in and Kingy, although he finished in form, was benched or anonymous for the other 2/3 of the campaign. Add to that Dean Hammond being just an anchor man and it's a huge area of concern.

No panic but it needs addressing.

We've lost a centre back, a winger and two centre mids. The change in formation may mean the winger is no longer needed, but we still need the others, just as we did after the final whistle of last season.

DT,

Really I think  and this is not meant to be derogatory, but it seems that our younger supporters are not as patient as they should be.  Also the fact that Nigel was sacked and no one still knows why, has made people uneasy.  Disappointment about the change in manager is understandable, but it clearly has morphed into impatiences.  Every fan wants to see their team bidding for great and known players as a statement of intent.  But everyone just needs  relax and give the management time to sort through the thoughts and plans of Claudio and then work on what the player roster needs to be, including who should stay from the current lot and who should go.

Fans, need to not look at quick and lots of transfer activity as either a good or bad thing.  I much prefer to have a management team that gets the right players, even if that might take a little longer.

Just because we are not in the press with lots of speculation about our activity, does not mean we are not in the market, or not being successful at who we are after.  I think the fact that this club does not leak like others is great.  News stories about players and bids, is not a statement of fact. and we all need to stop thinking the media knows all.

I'm always miserable and find something to moan at... why change that...

Shame, but seems true.  Have you thought of getting a girl :)

I tend to think I know quite a bit about footballers and in particular UK based players but i am struggling to think of one single quality experienced EPL central midfielder who in the relatively short window available we could both afford is available and would genuinely consider coming to us.

Any thoughts sensible suggestions only please!

My money is on some Carlos kick a ball another Cambiasso is not out there and if he is he ain't coming to us - we need to lower our expectations a little in my view

Chris, that is why we have people hired at the club to do that, not any fan.

Just a few things, off the top of my head, not even scratching the surface really.

Just when we thought we had some stabilty we've gone polar opposite and appointed someone who won't be here in a years time.  How in gods name can you say that!!  Where and how do you base such nonsense.  You make it sound like fact, just because you are not happy about his hire does not mean he is not going to make a go of the job.  I bet he will be here or his full contract.   Doesn't mean I am right either.

We've sacked a manager who the players were quite clearly playing for, they loved him (Or seemed too), we've now appointed who is gonna be here short-term and who has had previous fallings out with our now ex-star play, who it was claimed would sign depending on who was appointed, he's decided not to sign, speaks volumes to me...Great appointment

Consistency - Ok so the Thailand 3 were sacked, can't argue against it, it was the right decision, but what about the wife beater? When's he getting sacked? I think we have the answer to Pearson's argument with the owners.

Okazaki was actually listed as a CAM at Mainz but I'd have to go back and look. I recall him being touted for this kind of role, as Nugent did play often for us. Mahrez is usually a winger, but he does offer the flexibility to play from either side. It's going to be down to the formation. If we use wing backs it will probablly mean less pressure on the CMs. We won matches with very little possession in our run last year which suited Cambiasso fine. When we wanted long periods possession the midfield was not really capable of controlling the ball, a problem we had all year. We just found a way to work around it at the end.
