jimmeh Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 We've made the exact same signings we would have under pearson. We played no different to the way we did last season. All the same backroom staff are there. Ranieri has said he wants nothing to change. Is it basically pearson with a ranieri mask on.
st albans fox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 We wouldn't have played 4 at the back yesterday
filbertstreet Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 if he can keep this up i don't really give a shit
Stevosevic Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 He was constantly talking to the players on the touchline yesterday, he didn't move from it. He had a lot ot influence on how we played.
Corky Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Pearson takes credit for the end of last season's performances, Ranieri takes the plaudits for yesterday. It's impressive that a manager can continue how the previous season left off. We ended with positive attacking football, we started in the same vein. Great stuff, hope it lasts a fair while yet.
jimmeh Posted 9 August 2015 Author Posted 9 August 2015 Well when a club changes manager. You tend to notice the difference immediately. You would expect an Italian manager to stamp his own authority on things. But the way yesterday went... No. It was basically like last season. Which I am happy about. But how much influence Is he having on the team
lgfualol Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Even if we won the league under Ranieri people would say it was all Pearson's work.
benpicko Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Do you want him to change everything then rather than recognise that we play well as we currently do?
Frank to be Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 He's doing everything right so far imo. No need to rush into too many changes when we're doing so well. He did completely change the formation though, and he played Mahrez/Albrighton together on the wings, something Pearson seemed loathe to do for some unknown inexplicable reason.

jimmeh Posted 9 August 2015 Author Posted 9 August 2015 Do you want him to change everything then rather than recognise that we play well as we currently do? No. But why even appoint ranieri then? Why not appoint Shakespeare and Philips
The Doctor Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Basically if yesterdays anything to go by he's going for gentle evolution rather than a massive revolution - but what we showed yesterday was a degree of flexibility that we didn't have under Nigel, with the ability to shift from a 3-5-2 to 3-4-3 to 4-4-2 to 4-4-1-1.
AyewJoking Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 i think hes got to toe the line until we have a blip, then he can "tinker" with the line up/tactics without being criticised for changing a winning system.
Lestoh Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 He's doing everything right so far imo. No need to rush into too many changes when we're doing so well. He did completely change the formation though, and he played Mahrez/Albrighton together on the wings, something Pearson seemed loathe to do for some unknown inexplicable reason. And it worked. Very well. As has been said, he was constantly on the touchline orchestrating the play. I was skeptical at first, but if this is how we play under him then bring on the Ranieri era.

ScouseFox Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 he played a different system and switched the wingers cleverly to get albrighton whipping balls in and mahrez taking advantage of how painfully bad van aanholt was/is. astute performance id say. do have to laugh at whoever it was who said pearson had left us in dire straights personnel-wise though, that was his team and it was great .
jimmeh Posted 9 August 2015 Author Posted 9 August 2015 Do you think that's a problem? No. But I just don't get why even appoint ranieri then? Might aswell appoint Shakespeare with Philips if they want identical to last season.
Corky Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 I thought you wanted Pearson out? Or is this just a piss-take thread?
jimmeh Posted 9 August 2015 Author Posted 9 August 2015 This place is a hole. Why I'm not suggesting it's bad that there doesn't seem to be much influence... Just asking the question how much influence has he had on the team so far. Guess it's too early on to say

Not quite dire straights but we were definitely left with a severe lack of depth in defence, a problem we still have today and similarly in midfield although ranieri has brought two players in and appears, admittedly from just one game, to be able to get the best out of Drinkwater at this level, which helps.
