ealingfox Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 I can't remember is coming back from 2-0 down under Pearson at all apart from that Manchester United game (happy to be proven wrong, no doubt it happened over 250 odd games) and to have done it twice in the first six games demonstrates that far from destroying the togetherness that was supposedly key factor in our survival, Ranieri has at the very least sustained it and in fact appears to have further reinforced it despite the addition of several new players from all over the world.Liverpool Away 14/15Watford Home 13/14 Cardiff Away Play-off 09/10 (sort of) That's off the top of my head. Equally you could say we came back from 2 down less under NP because we were 2 down in the first place less frequently. Where Ranieri's % of games came back from 2 down will obviously be better, Pearson's % of games went 2 down at all in will obviously be better.
Guest ttfn Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Watford in 2013/14. maybe it happened a lot more than I remember then, that's 3 times in Pearson's last 60 games! Ranieri out

We went 2-0 (or 3-1) down 12 times last season under Pearson in the league (just under 1 in every 3 games) and this year we've gone 2-0 down twice in six games (once every 3 games) so I'm not sure that we do go 2-0 down more frequently under Ranieri (although we haven't played anybody particularly good yet). I'm not having a go at Pearson at all, more emphasising what a job Ranieri has done to retain and seemingly build on last year's spirit despite being a new manager working with "Pearson's squad".

What? You've just said Pearson's is better and even added thats without Ranieri playing anyone good.
Guest ttfn Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 What? You've just said Pearson's is better and even added thats without Ranieri playing anyone good. It's better by an immaterially small amount. 38 isn't divisible by 3 so they're basically as comparable as you're going to get at this stage. I wouldn't have made the point in the first place if I'd remembered the Liverpool game (or Watford game for that matter).
ScouseFox Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 What? You've just said Pearson's is better and even added thats without Ranieri playing anyone good. yeah but his point is we have come back both times under ranieri so to boast a similar recovery from 2 goal deficit percentage we'd have had to have come from 2-0 down 12 times last season, and between us we can only think of 3 times in the past 3 seasons. i think.
Frank to be Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Not sure I agree with that. Tactical nouse and perfectly timed/selected substitutions has been one of the major keys to our success so far this season, in that respect I think Ranieri certainly has the edge over Pearson. Still think Nige would have kept us up this year but I don't think he would have been pushing the boundaries we have been so far because I think Ranieri adapts to situations/changes etc a lot quicker and more effectively. Just MO. Agree with this. Ranieri has deployed different systems with positive effect and his substitutions have almost all made a positive impact on the game. A Pearson substitution would often spell the end of any good performance, and usually had no positive effect if we were playing poorly. Pearson also struggled tactically last season, only finding a good set up after having been through a good half a dozen failed attempts. Everything points to Ranieri being a far superior manager tactically and in terms of team selections and substitutions. Pearson can perhaps still lay claim to being the better of the two in the transfer market, but how much of Pearson's signings were really anything to do with him is not known for sure, and the signs are that he had minimal involvement, which rather renders Pearson's number one attribute a bit of a fallacy.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 We've lost 1 game in 17... 1 game in 17 1 game in 17 1 game in 17 they have my trust. It just doesn't look right! It really is unbelievable.
The_77 Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Not sure how you can give the new manager 10 out of 10 when at right back its still either RDL or Simpson who are simply not good enough In fairness this is about the only real negative thing to comment on but I really feel it will be the difference between lower / mid table and a top 10 finish Quality right backs are at a premium, they're not just lying around the lower leagues waiting for us to pick them up for pennies. Now, our RBs may very well be our weak link but they are outperforming some much bigger names at that position. If anything, any lack of quality in our RBs (does someone have to mention RDL in every thread?) only highlights what an outstanding job CR has done so far. The most pressing need after Huth signed was in the middle of the park, and we did quite well there during the past transfer window. Back on topic: It's early in a new season, so we should shouldn't get to high or low, but anyone who doesn't trust the owners by now never will.

Aaaaarrrgghhhhh! I found myself agreeing with this post, then I noticed who posted it. Col, you're right, let's enjoy it. Last night I thoroughly enjoyed a good game of football between two good teams and our team contained 10 changes but they were still a good team. Loved our promotion season. Loved last season (even the miserable middle bit, as at times we showed something was there, eg Liverpool away). Loving this season. Enjoy it while you have it. We have had many fallow years while I've followed City, but there are occasionally good times. Enjoy them while they're here.

Buce Posted 23 September 2015 Author Posted 23 September 2015 It just doesn't look right! It really is unbelievable. Even better when you consider that the one defeat came against the champions elect, a game in which we lost two players to injury in the first twenty minutes.
Tom's Pasta Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Don't mean to sound pessimistic but I do wonder how important it is that Steve Walsh and shakey are still at the club. If they were to go when Pearson gets a job I can't help but worry how this will impact on the squad

BlueTillIDie Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Like many on here, I was gutted when the owners sacked NP, and totally underwhelmed by their choice of replacement. I feared the worst. But what an inspired signing Claudio has proven to be. He's retained the spirit and energy of the side, while adding some much needed tactical acumen. And it brought a lump to my throat to see him whipping the crowd to a frenzy in ET. Absolute legend, already. Love the guy. Spot on, its moments like that you always remember! If im honest i was very sceptical of him coming in but he has been amazing, long may it continue, although we all know a blip will come so lets stay postive then aswell......ah forget that lets just enjoy the ride and the present, bloody love my Leicester!!!!
