Time to drop Shinji

Am I be only person that disagrees? I think he's a vital part of creating chances and applying pressure from the front and he's far more than his goal tally. No coincidence that two of the Attacking players beside him are the top two premier league scorers.

Just like Nugent then...

When he played in the first half we were far more dangerous and put more pressure on their defence.

Taking him off for King was a mistake, I'd have only swapped him for Ulloa or moved Mahrez up front and put Dodoo on the wing.

I think him and Vardy play well enough together and would like to see where things are after another 3/5 games in regards Shinji scoring goals.

Agreed.  Was impressed with him for our first couple of matches but now apart from being a minor nuisance, I'm not overly sure what he offers with Vardy next to him.  Ulloa would give us more of a physical arial presence and would be a better foil for Vardy IMO.

Won't get dropped as he is our token oriental poster boy and claudio would fall out of favour with the owners.

He's already been dropped before hasn't he?

I'm with you 100%. Ulloa cannot apply that pressure up front and without it teams would just pick us a part.

Crazy to be criticising his goal scoring when our team have scored more goals than nearly every other.

Football is a team game, he's playing the role that Nuge played before, an important role in our promotion and survival.

oooooh controversial lol

No, a stupid comment.

We often looked wide open in midfield playing Vardy and Ulloa in a 4-4-2 last season. It was only when they had the 3/5 behind them that we were competitive.

Personally I'd rather see Mahrez play behind Vardy with two of Schlupp, Albrighton and Dyer out wide, but if we're not going to do that and we're not going to play 3-5-2 then I think Okazaki remains a better option than Ulloa at the moment.

My main criticism of yesterday was that Vardy and Okazaki were either both up the pitch or both dropping deep, it rarely seemed like 4-4-1-1 which is our best method of getting that balance right between attack and defence.

Not sure on this.

He hasn't looked that good since West Ham but we do create a lot of chances when him and Vardy start together, his pace and energy creates a lot of space.

Think I'd still persist with him a bit, it's not our forward play that needs messing with.

At the moment, I think we need Okazaki as he does the running to back up Vardy, a bit like Nugent did in the past.

It becomes much more difficult for opposition defenders with 2 terriers like Vardy and Okazaki applying pressure. I don't think Ulloa has the speed and stamina to press like an Okazaki or Nugent.

Not really sure why Okazaki was subbed off at half time. I also noticed that he drops deep to make key tackles and interceptions. Much more to his role than just scoring goals.

When Dyer is fully fit, I wouldn't mind seeing Dyer and Alrbrighton on the wings. Then maybe we can justify replacing Okazaki by giving Mahrez a free role behind Vardy.

All this hate yet when we took him off we looked worse.

Yesterday was his best performance since West Ham, nowhere near his West Ham performance but there were moments of class yesterday, he is a very intelligent player.

People are overestimating Okazakis workrate. If he was so vital why do we score most goals when he is off the pitch?

Because he's worn the opposition out?

Disagree with this, Ulloa (and Kramaric when he came on late) gave Mertesacker and Koscielny far more to think about and contend with in 20 minutes than Okazaki did in 70 IMO.  I just think he and Vardy don't particularly work as a paring at this moment in time.

We were creating chances when Okazaki was on the pitch, we played with pace & the game was pretty even.

Taking him off killed our pace, Ulloa came on & didn't see enough of the ball for me, would of seen more of the ball & perhaps scored if Albrighton was on the pitch.

Not so long ago we had players like Beckford, incredibly lazy. We now have players like Okazaki who works incredibly hard & gives 100% yet still gets slated.

I think he'd benefit from playing the Vardy role, Mainz whole game was based around trying to get Shinji in behind. So, put Shinji on the bench and play him when Vardy has a stinker. Kramaric/Ulloa to compete for the number 10 role if we are sticking with 4-4-1-1

There are no similarities between Ulloa and Kram - they are not competing for the same place.

in a 4-4-1-1 we'd be better to have Dyer wide and Mahrez in behind where his inability to defend won't hurt us.

When Vardy has a stinker. Erm what?

You have said the same every week.

You and a couple of other posters are blind and boring.

Leo is far too slow for our game.

Did you go to the West Ham game? Leo had a blinder caused all sorts of problems and was good defensively at set pieces.

Shinji at the moment is a passenger.

No I didn't go, I watched it online.

Leo had a good game, as did many people - but it was the league cup - we made a team full of changes, Wham made changes and played tired players, let's not get too carried away by 1 game. Simpson even played in it.

If you think that Okazaki is a passenger then I don't think you really see the games that you obviously "watch live".

For me it's time to drop him from the starting XI and give Ulloa a start. Had a great start to the season in the first two games but since then he hasn't done enough for me to warrant a place in the starting XI every game.

I genuinely can't remember the last time he made the keeper work. He hasn't looked like scoring. Yes his work rate is great but I think it's time to give Ulloa a chance.

1 goals and 0 assists in 7 games may not tell the whole story but I'd expect more from a striker/forward.

At the minute I see Okazaki as a perfect replacement for Vardy in the last 20 minutes if he is tiring.

People saying Ulloa doesn't suit our quick counter attacking play and is not fast enough. But he will make us stronger defensively on set pieces and the amount of balls Albrighton puts in the box throughout the game he will benefit from more than Okazaki.

Yeah, I mean remember when Pearson tried to sell Abe? or when Claudio benched Okazaki vs Bournemouth - both sacked straight away right? What an absurd comment.
