Another factor why some don't get picked !!???!! [by the way WTF is a Sports scientist ?! .... can't recall having one of those when I played.... we did have a man with a very cold sponge though ... he soon got you up again.] This is something I've been calling out for for years and football has lagged behind other sports. David Brailsford always put down the massive domination GB have had in olympic cycling to this. Particularly marginal gains - the very small improvement that you can make in a myriad of areas that add up to a big difference in overall performance. The obvious area that most sports have worked on is nutrition but Brailsford even got his team looking at the travel arrangements, type of hotel and room and each cyclist even had their own pillow to use when they travelled. That's the type of performance director which really makes a difference. Leicester seem to be ahead of many other teams in this area at the moment.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 October 2015 Posted 21 October 2015 Yes ..... His leadership is definitely missed. For me we are now one central defender away from being a top six side consistently ...... I'm afraid that would be a replacement for big Wes, who I love to bits, but is now the weak link and not the strong leader that you need in the heart of defence. We also miss Cambiasso's goals. Drinkwater really cannot shoot for shite. It's not that we're not scoring..of course we are. But to get a few more from midfield would stop us relying on Vardy all the bloody time.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 21 October 2015 Posted 21 October 2015 Do grown men really spaff in their pants over the thought of footballers? I've always found that very creepy.. And you do need to sort your wording out mate.. Typos: I always post on a phone, but I take your point-is should have been us in my post. Otherwise, did I actually ejaculate in pleasure at the thought of the hypothetical make up of our football team? No. Did Vardy literally bust his gut last game? No. It's just a metaphor to illustrate a point-football chat is so full of metaphors that you don't even notice most of them. Regardless, the thought of what might have been if we'd had Kante as the engine and Cambiasso as the driver of our midfield is despicably appealing. If only...
(.) (.) Posted 21 October 2015 Posted 21 October 2015 Major reason that we're top 5 this season and bottom five last season is the midfield. You keep those glasses on. Or perhaps it's because we have brought in a better class of player, we've replaced Upson and Moore with Benalouane and Huth. There's been significant improvements in Schlupp, Vardy and Mahrez. Albrighton is no longer a squad player but a bona-fided first team starter and brings balance to the team. We've signed Dyer who brings us a plan B. we have a manager who despite the critisim is tactically aware. Chelsea were top of the table this time last year and are now sitting in mid-table, is this because they lost Drogba? not everything is black and white. Cambiasso was quite rightly named player of the year for some excellent performances and will live long in not only my memory but my fellow Foxes who I attend the games with.

Get over it and move on.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Yeah, I've seen this debate developing, that we seem to somehow coach that out of our goalkeepers. I am not sure. If they are coaching him to stay on the line, I think it is because they have looked at his strengths and weaknesses and decided that he isn't very good at commanding his box, and that his best chance is using his fast reactions. He isn't very tall but that shouldn't prevent him from commanding the area. Whatever the problem is, it needs sorting out quickly. How about doing it in stages, beginning with commanding the 6yd box as s starting point.
Merging Cultures Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 How about doing it in stages, beginning with commanding the 6yd box as s starting point. Hopefully they tried that. They might have realised he is too short, can't jump and doesn't hold on to the ball.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 He didn't want to play here anymore. Get over it and move on. I'm over it. We're playing fantastically and a joy to watch at every turn. You're clearly not over it. How embarrassing to have such a hang up because one of our former players (and a great one, given the impact he had in such a massive season for us) did better than you predicted. Try saying this: "I, FIF, was wrong about Cambiasso. He was much better than I thought he'd be, and I regret spending a season and a half trying to justify my belief that we didn't need him. Now that he's gone, I can look back dispassionately and see the huge positive impact he had on the team. I have let it go." You'll feel so much happier.
psychonaut Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Todays Mercury gives a good snapshot of how things are going One-Year-On .... Lots of positives ... Vardy on being top scorer ... "He's(CR) been really good .... given me the licence to roam free up there and do what I'm good at" "While Vardy was disappointed with the departure of NP he said CR had made a positive impact at City". "I'm contracted to the club and I'm happy at Leicester". "He's not changed the way we play and is so tactically aware of the opposition"...... "So he's brilliant tactics wise and it is working for us". "His English is fine". "He's been good and he brought in a few coaches with him, who have been fantastic, so its onwards and upwards". Just what we want to hear !! ... ands there's also another interesting article just before the back page entitled "Conditioned to be the comeback kings" ..... How the facts can be distorted? I never made any prediction about Cambiasso - I thought he'd be good but I never made a prediction. I watched his games and commented on the fact that he wasn't as good as people were making out in particular that his defence especially tracking people was not that good. I also stated that he passed well and was a good vocal presence. I think you should perhaps admit that his defensive tracking was poor and then you'll feel better. Anyway enough about ex players there's a thread for them, let's celebrate how much better our midfield partnership of Kanté and Drinks are than what we had a year ago.

When I talked about sleep assessment you realised that i maybe alluding to one of our players who burns the candle at both ends !! .... and what with that and his media moans, his lack of goal scoring, penchant for over chipping, and the fact that he is not impressing at the training ground, is a reason he is not being picked above an academy youth player !!! Hats off mate I thought I'd sneaked that one in !!

This is starting to really annoy me .... he blasts every single shot way over the bar .... surely there comes a time when someone puts an arm round him and says 'get your fecking knee over the ball Danny .... remember when you were 10 and got taught it!!!?" He had at least 4 efforts last week that sailed straight over.
Captain... 5waller5 Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 You mean apart from the one that was flying into the top corner that forced Davies into a good save. Looked like that one shot of the 5 that he had was also flying either into the bar or just over..... but the keeper did save it, and yes I've no problem with one that's nearly on target. It's the 4/5 that fly straight to row z that I'm talking about (clearly).
TJB-fox Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 You mean apart from the one that was flying into the top corner that forced Davies into a good save. One swallow doesn't make a summer and all that... No problem with DD shooting regularly, in fact I welcome it. However if he's going to smash 4/5 shots wildly over the bar nowhere near the target every game then Ranieri seriously needs to have a word
Guest Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 You mean apart from the one that was flying into the top corner that forced Davies into a good save. This. Drinkwater has a very powerful shot which more often than most is on target or very close from outside the box. I hope he continues to take them - but obviously works on them further.
filbertway Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 You mean apart from the one that was flying into the top corner that forced Davies into a good save. Which let's be honest, it an anomoly rather than the norm. I remember Billy McKinley smashing one in against Cov, he was not a good striker of the ball though.
ScouseFox Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 drinkwater's shots are absolutely awful, nobody of sane mind can try and claim otherwise
MooseBreath Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Drinky has never scored a premier league goal has he? If he was a prolific scorer I could forgive him for shooting from 40yards occasionally, but he's not. If he keeps wasting the ball in such good positions it'll be time for Inler to come back in.
