iamafox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Suppose finishing the year number two in the world and winning the Davis cup for your country for the first time in 79 years is a great achievement Nobody deserves it more than him. No offence to the other players but he carried the whole team on his back, that deserves a lot of praise.

Murray's only made one grand slam final this year . using the words only and slam final is a bit crazy... before Murray how many British players in the open era made it to a slam final in their careers let alone in a year? plus he won us the Davis cup and grabbed a couple of masters titles finishing the year number two in the world. Yes British sport is at such a low point

Christ! It's not about the personality. Personality means notable person in the case of this award. Check the dictionary definition. And Murray actually comes across a nice bloke with a very dry sense of humour if you bother to listen to him anyway.

Erm definition 2 might be clue as to what I've just told you about the use of Personailty in the title. The winner is the sportsperson, judged by a public vote, to have achieved the most that year." So get your facts right mate. And Andy Murray is nice guy who achieved more than you could ever imagine. People with no bottle don't become one of their countries greatest sportsman do they.

But if you're going to spout some of the things he has done and make a half arsed apology that you clearly don't mean you're not going to get many people voting for you in a popularity contest.

You had a guy who single handed won the Davis Cup, one who was the first Brit to defend an F1 title, only the 4th athlete to hold all 4 major championships in athletics, a world record breaking world champion swimmer, the first Brit to win the Tour twice, a two time double world champion at 5000m and 10000m. I'm not saying Fury didn't do well, but I'm not sure why beating an aging opponent stands so highly above all others. He was rightly in with a shout, but I don't think he was a clear winner amongst that lot.

He was rightly in with a shout, but I don't think he was a clear winner amongst that lot. 39 is not that old in boxing terms and he hadn't lost in a decade and has in one fell swoop made him one of the best heavy weights we've ever had, and you are making a case for Andy Murray I really wouldn't bring quality of opponent to the table. Hamilton won amongst major controversy last year due to the quality of the equipment at his disposal. I'd say winning three heavy weight titles completely eclipses everything else you've mentioned with ease......it's just a shame for him he's a bell.

Personally I don't think they should won the team award and he shouldn't have won it outright, and hand on heart that is nothing to do with me hating him or the sport, I honestly do believe the awards should have gone to other people. Team award should have gone to the probably gone to the Cricket team, written off before the series, didn't have a hope in hell, broke records (Or dare I say it, us Leicester City - I'm being tongue in cheek/bias there but the turn around is quite amazing anyone has to agree) and Tyson Fury or Jessica Ennis-Hill should have won outright. But it's all about opinion, or who the media ('panel') are rimming/About the only live sport BBC have left I guess.
