Bernie Appreciation Thread

Does he actually have mental health issues or is he just a drinker?

You could argue that the two are one and the same thing.

Without going all House M.D., I'd hazard a guess at a bit of both... Certainly physically he has all the hallmarks of someone who's been hitting the booze heavily for a long time: premature ageing (if some are to be believed), poor personal and dental hygeine etc...

Still, he's in his element at games and clearly the club means a lot to him, so who are we to argue? Leave him be, I say.

Accidentally bumped into him against Sheffield Wednesday when they hammered us 4-1 at home (3 worldies btw). He felt to the ground and I helped him up and apologised, and been his best mate since.

Last season we sat behind him at Man Utd.

He turned round and started a sensible conversation with my son, asking him in a clear voice if it was his 1st time at Old Trafford.

On another occasion at Forest away we passed him on the pavement, a few of my mates cheered him saying hi Bernie, he took one look at me in my shorts and T-shirt and said "hi Lee". I am a rather large bloke and although I look nothing like The Drummer, Bernie was clearly without doubt, gently taking the piss.

I don't think he's as mad as some seem to think.

However he clearly loves City, so give him a break.

Ran past him once as we had to leave early to catch a train, found him stumbling around outside the tigers ground at about 70 minutes

Has anyone actually seen him in a ground?

Used to sit down the front of G2 by the disabled entrance, seen him there the tail end of last season but haven't spotted him yet this season.

Clearly, the people taking the piss out of him haven't had mental health issues themselves and are perhaps quite ignorant towards it.

Can I ask how you are so sure he has mental health issues ?

Very good question and I sat next to him at Spurs last year , I posted the story then , I'm not sure he has mental health problems

Has this really just happened?

I have met him and I can assure you he is highly unlikely to have a Diagnosed psychiatric illness

He may have.... but my point is who are we to make judgements or assumptions

Can't we just appricate the fact he is a Wonderfully unique personality , without labelling him !

I see him in his seat mostly every home game. Right at the bottom, in the corner next to SK1. Always has a miserable look on his face, even when we're winning.

Maybe he needs a hug to cheer him up? Think I'll leave that for somebody else to do though.

I sat near him once, He disappeared on 30 minutes and turned up on 60 with his weeks shopping from Morrisons.

Who would shout at a pigeon, a lamppost and stand on horse poo outside some pub?

He sounds a nice person when he wants to and interact like anyone else, but no 'normal' person wouldn't do any of the above.

He might have become a big of a caricature of himself now and does these things for attention for all we know. I've seen people perform equally daft stunts under the influence but are otherwise (when sober) normal.

I sat near him away at Plymouth in 2004/05ish and he's certainly entertaining although completely unpredictable.

Throughout the entire match he sang the same song:

Come all without, come all within,

You aint seen nothing like the mighty Dublin!

Dear me

So your diagnosing people as mentally unwell because there behaviour is "not normal"

Have you been in leicester At 1am on a Sunday morning ?

Nothing is normal about those people either

Connection ? .....alcohol

Sorry haven't read this thread, but saw Bernie at West Brom and he looked really really ill. So pale.

Hope he is okay. He loves Leicester so good luck to him.
