Fox92 Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Not sure if anybody has seen it so far but this weeks interview was with Micky Adams. He will always have my respect for what he achieved here with no money. I started going regular in 2002 and became a season ticket holder so I remember the season well. The Brighton game, which features, stands out but I recall a few dominating wins that season - Bradford for instance - and Wright scoring against Nottingham Forest. The spine of the team was superb - Elliott, Izzet, McKinlay, Dickov - and Walker was a great goalkeeper. Was fortunate enough to be at Grimsby away when Izzet scored the overhead kick. Everybody surely remembers McKinlay's goal at Highfield Road too! Getting promoted with all the off field problems was an excellent achievement and something I'll like Adams for forever.
Wymsey Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Great bloke at the time. Seemed to pick up the crap and make it somewhat golden for the club.
Sampson Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Jeez, he looks like he's aged about 20 years in a decade. Good manager for us though under difficult circumstances.
Durnerz Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Brought us through against the odds, a very underrated manager but realistically had a quality squad in that shit league.Good luck to the guy.
Corky Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Excellent first season in very trying circumstances, second season was a mixed bag- plenty of spirit and endeavour but serious issues with losing winning positions and ultimately relegation. Third season had a terrible transfer policy with too many ageing players and poor early performances leaving us ensconced in mid-table with little hope of promotion. I do like him for his early work but I think he lost his way and possibly stayed a few months too long.
Notsomuchthesedays Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 One of my favourite managers for Leicester. The club was in a terrible financial position created by poor directors and a very poor previous manager. He managed to rebuild a winning team around some of the old guard and always conducted himself with great dignity. He was a honest bloke who know how to build a decent team, which was more than some of his replacements managed. I also remember fondly beating forest at home 1-0 despite our team being dessimated by injuries. Good luck Micky we always speak fondly of you down the pub when reminiscing!
Len Finsbury Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I remember when he took over and there was so much chat about us getting the new Collymore, a young lad Adams had managed at Brighton called Bobby Zamora!
Richard Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Where were we when we sacked him? My mind says around 12th. It all went downhill once he left
Sampson Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I think we were higher, we were actually 9th or 10th and he resigned rather than being sacked saying he was exhausted with everything he'd been through, which was probably fair enough considering everything that happened at the club in those 2 1/2 years.
Izzy Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I always respected him for his honesty and integrity. Regardless of his success/failures, I trusted him and thought he had strong values. Decent bloke I thought. Good luck to him.
Mike Oxlong Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Was it Micky or Bon Jovi who coined Keep the Faith?
Izzy Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Was it Micky or Bon Jovi who coined Keep the Faith? Trust you!!
fleckneymike Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Tarnished his reputation by always speaking about himself in the third person.
Izzy Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Tarnished his reputation by always speaking about himself in the third person. He was a trail blazer, a trend setter. Everyone talks about themselves in the third person these days

Mad Dog Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 It's funny, I still maintain we were a bit unlucky that 03/04 season. There was some stat, I'm sure I'm well off, if games ended in the 80th min we'd have finished 7th or something that year. Blew so many leads! That strikeforce was great too, Dickov, Ferdinand, Bent.
Tuna Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Hands up how many on here knew he was managing Sligo this season? That passed me by completely.
