leicsmac Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 Far more likely for this to be some white social darwinists than Islamic extremists - as people have said, this isn't really their MO, these guys were looking to escape, not die. Jattdogg Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 Upsetting. Obama will, yet again, say 'something has to be done' - but nothing will happen unfortunately. http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/02/politics/san-bernardino-shooting-obama/index.htmlWhats new? As long as guns are around these things will happen. My heart goes out to those who have been injured and the family of those who lost loved ones. We dont yet know if this is just crazy Americans or terrorists so will have to see how it all shakes down before we can blame American gun culture etc
Merging Cultures Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 Two suspects killed. One suspect identified as Syed Farook. It seems like an IED was left in the building and a pipe bomb in a residential area. It may have been a work place disagreement, but IMO they seem too prepared. leicsmac Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 Going by the released names my initial assumption was wrong then. If they are indeed trying to make a disgusting point regarding their particular brand of Islamic extremism it's interesting that they chose to run - not the way such people normally operate. ozleicester Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 Suggestions of a disgruntled employee... person of the same name had worked for the group that was shot at. US media have identified one of the suspects as a man named Syed Farook. Public records show that a man bearing the same name worked as an environmental health specialist for the department that had gathered for the party, and authorities have said they were looking at reports the attack might be linked to a disgruntled employee. A disgruntled employee who was very prepared and had built bombs. This was planned. A policeman said something quite obvious, most disgruntled employee killings are done as a lone shooter. This had at least one other. Which meant he had to convince that person(s) to risk their lives. It's very unusual to be just a disgruntled employee situation.Whether he did it in support of ISIS or not, he isn't helping the cause of Muslims in the US, or elsewhere, and simply perpetuating the stereotype. Merging Cultures Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 The shooters were husband and wife. Left their six month old at the Grandma's on Wednesday morning. Either the wife was really supportive of her husband and wanted to get back at his employers too. Even if it meant putting her life at risk. Or they were both brained washed Muslims out to kill people celebrating at a Christmas party. Personally, while I think my wife would back me up in most things, I don't think she'd join me in a shooting rampage against my employers. Unless she was brain washed that is. Merging Cultures Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 US born guy with Saudi born wife, sounds like fairly recent. I suspect a Saudi wife does what she is told. I am sure they are more compliant than my Jamaican wife (most women are!), but I doubt it extends to killing people, unless they were radicalised, which makes much more sense. The problem isn't too many people with guns, it is the opposite the problem is not enough people are carrying guns to defend themselves, those disabled kids should have all been tooled up, James Bond style wheelchairs with ejector seats and machine guns. Then they could have defended themselves, as is their right! If you don't agree with me you must be some sort of terrorist sympathiser.
lgfualol Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 Basically everyone in America, from toddlers to the elderly should constantly have their guns pointed at one another. That'll solve the problem.
Thracian Posted 3 December 2015 Share Posted 3 December 2015 Only confirms my comment yesterday relating to the extent of mental illness and imbalance in people. I'm sure the internet helps. It raises hackles and focuses attention. Some people can rationalise and deal with that, but others crave attention, can justify any idiocy to themselves and are determined or insane enough to act or react when they do. No, that's not meant to condemn the internet. Some people have always been easily led. The internet just provides more and wider opportunity. The answer lies in mending minds and the sooner the better because brains are very much a work in progress even so long after the first prototypes ever evolved.
