Benguin Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 None of the people in Rearsby would like to be called/described as Middle class. House prices there are ridiculous for what they are. Syston has a lot more going for it. If you want a few amenities, pubs, 10 mins on the train to town. Rearsby is full or some right pretentious pricks. I should know I lived there for 10 years. And although now in Goscote some how paid a premium for my house thanks to royal mail giving me a Rearsby postal address. However if you find yourself over this way. I'm the not so pretentious one at the bar in the horse and groom pub, with the chav boy racer car lowering the tone Depends on how we define middle class really as you can say upper, middle and lower or add working class which accounts for the masses in between lower and middle. I see middle as being well off enough that if you left your job you'd still have assets and capital to get you by. You're right though Syston has been growing over my existence, if you move there make sure you get a holiday home for when the fare ground comes to town though!

theadmans Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 I now live down south myself (having moved for my first job straight after Uni). From what I remember growing up - Stoneygate and Clarendon Park were particularly nice areas at the time (may have gone downhill though over the last 25 years or so) Anyway this bloke in The Guardian - seems to still rate these areas :- http://www.theguardian.com/money/2011/aug/12/lets-move-to-clarendon-park-stoneygate-leicester ...although this quote from the article may or may not put you off "Leicester is amazingly diverse and vibrant, but you won't find that in Clarendon Park. It's white, middle-class and poncey." !!!

Clarendon park has mostly smaller houses than Stoneygate and a lot more students but yes, middle class... i grew up in Clarendon park and if i ever moved back to England then this would be the place.... Some nice big houses though along Victoria park road and they are of course opposite Victoria park which can be a great place for a game on Saturday morning.. also just down from some nice bars and places to eat along queens road.... Just an all round nice area, really....

GaelicFox Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Market Harborough is a lovely town surrounded by quintessential english villages Great schools , midland mainline station And some of the finest village pubs known in these parts Pop in and I'll show you around Without the sexual innuendo the bad fox in syston has been making
Dr The Singh Posted 18 December 2015 Posted 18 December 2015 I wouldn't move back to Leicester even if you paid me, I spend 4/hours a week there and that's enough
Wymsey Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Outskirts of Syston and Queniborough both nice areas. Melton not too bad either. Oadby and Stoneygate as well (locations close to where Ranieri has purchased a house).

Up the pretention!
