Bamba's Babes Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 0 to 40 points - "Go out there and score one more than them." 40 points to present - "Stay solid and if we get a goal, bonus!" To me, the manager is now having too much influence on the team. He may have not tinkered with personnel, but he has definitely changed philosophy. It's no secret that we play much of the game without the ball, what made this effective was a high-press tactic which turned defence into attack very quickly. Our narrow shape was also aiding this. Now though, we appear willing to drop back 10 yards, still in our narrow shape which means when teams play it out to the wide player who is in acres of space, he is in a crossing/attacking position because we didn't nullify the attack further up the pitch. Whereas in the first part of the season we had high risk balls rewarded by Vardy making lung-busting runs, we now have balls lumped forward into spaces where Vardy isn't fit enough or willing to run to. We have players such as Mahrez, Gray, Albrighton, Kante, Drinkwater who can all beat a man but rather than encourage the previous drive from midfield, we now hoof the fecker 30 yards down the pitch meaning even if our furthest forward attacker (Vardy) does get the ball then he is isolated and often it's 1v4 in the opposition's favour. We're playing like West Brom right now!! We have lost our way but we are top of the league. Our bubble hasn't burst but we're floating above a forest of pine trees right now. Reinforcements are needed (Winger and Striker). We have a once in a generation (or more) chance of winning the Premier League, capitalise on it, invest in it and bloody go for it! Don't blow it Leicester!
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 I'd say it's more to do with Mahrez and Vardy not being able to perform. They drove opponents backwards by running at them. Other players in our team can't do that and so we're left playing a fairly passive game with little energy or speed to our attacks.
Munshi Posted 20 January 2016 Posted 20 January 2016 Just need to get at teams and press teams from the front. Straight from the first whistle we need to get at Stoke on Saturday and get the crowd going.
K1FOX Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Just need to get at teams and press teams from the front. Straight from the first whistle we need to get at Stoke on Saturday and get the crowd going. Quality post. Let's do this
Koke Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 It's just a phase. But the February fixtures do worry me. We used to ruthlessly put teams away. The back to back away wins at Newcastle and Swansea putting 6 goals past them were some of the most clinical stuff in the league. We would regularly score 2+ goals every game. We were never gonna sustain such high level of performance and productivity. It's foolish to think we would. Vardy looks like he's getting back to form. We just need to get Mahrez up and running again, and we will go back to scoring 2 goals per game again. I'm confident of that.
4everfox Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Gotta be honest now folks, this style of play is beginning to p#ss me off. It's brilliant that we are 2nd in the Premier League and I'm overjoyed with that but our style of football is depressing recently. I don't care about conceding goals as long as I'm entertained, I don't care about winning the league as long as I'm entertained. All I care about currently is qualifying for the champions league and we aren't going to do so by playing that negative shyte. Sort it out Claudio because its genuinely boring and awful to watch. If this soul destroying style of football continues to fail to produce victories then people are going to start jumping on the inevitable "Claudio out" bandwagon. Screw the defence Claudio! We don't care as long as we attack and are entertained. For the record, I won't be on the "Claudio out" bandwagon as I'm a great believer in continuity and I believe stability will bring success but come on! Give us something worth paying for.
UPinCarolina Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 Maybe it's Schlupp. He's the missing link! WE NEED JEFF!
foxfanazer Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 We've had things our own way for a while now so CR has had little to change but now it appears he's trying to be too clever and has abandoned our philosophy which served us so well. Claudio we don't mind losing mate so long as we have a go! Sort it out

LAprice_ Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 As someone mentioned, we are two missed penalties away from being 4 points clear. If we'd scored those two penalties I doubt very much that the forum would be full of so many repetitive threads about our "negative" style of play. The tiniest of margins are completely swinging the majority opinion of an entire fan base. It's crazy.
Koke Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 What have you seen to suggest this? His movements against Villa were good. The goal was a beautiful lob. Okazaki tapped it in. Latched onto a ball and Bunn raced out and wiped him out. Drinkwater's through ball was sensational movement by Vardy. Mahrez through ball, took it round the keeper and created a golden chance for Drinkwater. On another day he would have scored 2 against Villa. He's not 100% razor sharp yet but I can see it coming back.
kyleolly Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 We were playing all out attacking football heavily reliant on Vards and Mahrez, teams got wise to our way of playing and counteracted that on the most part. Mr Ranieri changed us to be a deep lying counter attacking team but now that's not working so well he'll change back to our original style of play and Stoke won't know what's hit them on Saturday!
