The Year Of The Fox Posted 27 March 2016 Posted 27 March 2016 Very true, after the game listening to the radio hearing people say Rooney shouldn't start, wilshere shouldn't be near the team and Kane and Vardy should be carts to start was brilliant and they are right. Sterling, Wilshere, Rooney are the type of player that have led us in the wrong direction, we don't want these around, we want a team that is full of hunger and are match fit .. I like Sterling when he's not falling over and I think if you're going to play with Vards and Kane up top the whole side needs to be built on pace, especially to get the best out of Vardy. Sterling has that. In fact the one thing we do have an abundance of is pace. But the minute you chuck Rooney in there he slows the whole thing down

Stevosevic Posted 27 March 2016 Posted 27 March 2016 How do I insert a video to view in the post, not directed to youtube? Anyway, Vardy and new England kit^

I think you'd struggle to accommodate him anyway as you've got to play Dier and Alli. I like Llanana too, he just needs better end product. I seriously hope Rooney breaks his leg or something before June

I seriously hope Rooney breaks his leg or something before June Alli is the creative spark... the playmaker for me, have drinkwater and dier with him you have a midfield that can cover and create... England don't need wingers , infact I find them not suited to international level. It is better playing with wing backs which is why Walker and rose would be perfect, they can defend but also cross a ball and have the pace and energy to run up and down. Then you play Vardy and Kane up top these are players that cover a lot of space but they are technically good and have excellent movement off the ball and press, it is why what we finished with against the Germans pretty much worked. At international level you need intelligence throughout and these players have it, if it was Rooney of several years ago he would suit this team perfectly. But he is far too slow now. Alli is the playmaker for me
steflcfc Posted 27 March 2016 Posted 27 March 2016 Once Lallana Henderson and Welbeck are swapped for Barkley, Drinkwater and Vardy we have the potential for a young decent team. Time for the younger, hungrier players on form to lead us in the Euros as Sterling,Walcott and Rooney aint up to scratch anymore, esp this season. Give Hart/Cahill the Armband and so with a younger team that will press with an injection of pace and a never give up attitude we can fall in love with our national team again that I for one feel has gone stale in recent years. I would rather support the England team playing like they did second half trying to win and giving it a go no matter what the scoreline is, than the boring slow play and trying not to lose a match. If I had the choice for the Euros I would go with: Hart Clyne Smalling Cahill Rose Dier - Defence screening Drinkwater - Box to Box Barkley - Box to Box Alli - Attacking Mf Kane Vardy. If only I can dream, I would love to see that team together.

benpicko Posted 27 March 2016 Posted 27 March 2016 Anyone know the last time before Saturday England came back to win from being 2-0 down ? 28th May 1976 against Italy
ajthefox Posted 27 March 2016 Posted 27 March 2016 Not worth playing Sterling imo. Sterling has to play in a wide role, but if you do that you need balance on the other side and that means either Walcott or an out of position Welbeck. Not worth it, especially when Sterling's end product is shite far too often.

England's strength lies in central midfield, attacking midfield and strikers. Our wingers lack end product and lack game intelligence. Let Walker and Rose provide the width and build the team around a 4-3-1-2 with Drinkwater,Dier and Alli as the base 3 and Barkley just behind Kane and Vardy. That team will press high, great transition play, intelligent decision making and good finishers.
Phube Posted 28 March 2016 Posted 28 March 2016 When is rooney back from injury? Hopefully about August time!?
