Vardy and Drinkwater on the bench tomorrow

They said the intention was to give every outfield player a start, so expect somethings like

Forster

Walker

Stones

Jagielka

Bertrand

Milner

Drinkwater

Walcott

Barkley

Sturridge

Vardy

U wot m8??

Vardy up front, Sturridge on the wing?

Think you're thinking of a different manager...

Outstanding performance tonight overall, I'd rather us play in that manner every match and lose rather than watch us churn out the usual dirge.  I do think our central defence will be our downfall in the summer though.

Also, Rooney should be nowhere near the starting line up after tonight.

He did say every player would get a chance, but with 5 games to go he should be trying to work out his best team. Get Drinkwater and Vardy on and get Llana and Henderson off and this is a great team. Welbeck can play the Schlupp role and there are premership leading partnerships all over the pitch. Roy should spend the next 4 games honing this team.

Worried about the CB issue. But overall good performance. That'd what you get with playing 2 up front.

But Roy will never learn and go back to the stupid 4-2-3-1.

Two (well three really) brilliant goals BUT Vardy's was the classy one. Cocky as well - turning it in like he did BEHIND his standing peg. He's got reflexes faster than Peter Bonetti's cat. I really do think that he's a cut above Kane as a player - faster, sharper and less selfish. I mean, that pass to Ally Delly, Delia Ali...whatever his name is, was a stone-cold cert...well, it would have been had Vardy been on the other end of his own pass.

That was one Ingerland game that was worth watching. Being half-kraut I have mixed allegiance but it's nice to see the Tommies occasionally stuffing the Hun. Germany should have called up Huth with that many Spurs players turning out for Roy's boys. The other plus is that maybe Rooney no longer can be justified as a starter.

Ha come on, Kane's a better player than Vardy. He's got more to game, pretty much a complete centre forward. I give Vardy complete plaudits for his season, he's been unbelievable and delighted for him today, thoroughly deserved that goal, but Kane is a better footballer. That's not really taking anything away from Vardy either, it's just Kane has turned into one of the best young strikers in the world. They could, and should, be playing together.

I cannot knock England tonight and that is very unlike me. They weren't perfect but they showed the exact kind of positivity that we really should be showing. Absolutely buzzing for Vardy too, what a ground and fixture to do it in.

Nope don't see it. Vardy is quicker, stronger and more agile. He can pass and isn't one sighted. Vardy can shoot with both pegs, chase down a loose ball and can make something out of a ball that would otherwise be dead. Vardy's all round game is much better than Rooney MK2 (skilled but lazy and selfish).

As for the game. Our midfield was still shocking. Final balls from henderson and dier really let us down. Dier had an awful game apart from that goal. Barklay looked much better and I reckon drinkwater would fit well alongside him. Alli had a fantastic game and without him we would have lacked any spark as per. But great to see us finally turning into a more exciting team. Long way to go yet though.

Sorry lads never been Kane's biggest fan but he's developing into quite a player. Couple of occasions yesterday he literally bullied a couple of their defenders. Set up Welbeck with a clever pass. Was the best all around performance by an England striker in a long time. Him and Vardy are the only two out and out forwards.

The Spurs lads were excellent last night. Dier playing a role well we have no one else for very well. They do play a little bit on the edge with tackles but it's a positive given how the desires shown by a lot of players for England is questionable.

Kane is a great striker but he lacks pace and creativity.

If only there was a striker in the squad with pace to burn to compliment his style??

Good on Vardy for coming on and getting his goal (a very good one too)

As with Kane and Ali just proves what players in great club form can do even with limited International experience.

Delighted England tried something different last night by pressing all over the pitch as we have the correct player fit this system.

It was refreshing to see, as the usual possession football for us just doesn't really work.

Vardy and kane have to start upfront together at the Euros if we harbour any chances of progressing in the tournament.

They can both press, drop deep when needed, make good runs and are both on form and scoring.

If they are both on the move all game defences wouldn't know how to cope.

There has to be a valid argument now for Rooney not to start in France.

He HAS been great for England but with other players emerging like Vardy and Welbeck and Sturridge getting back to fitness and looking quite sharp

I struggle to see where he will fit in.

Also with Alli, Barkley,Drinky having great seasons I cant see him dropping to midfield either.

I would say if Dier is playing the defensive role, Lallana and Henderson just aint upto much.

An exciting hungry mf would be Dier, Barkley Alli and Drinky.

Young, exciting and Alli Drinky and Barkley have that spark what can create things for the forwards.

The backline looked a tad shakey but keep that defence and don't change it so they gain the experience of playing together more regularly.

both full backs had a good game and we know what we get with Smalling and Cahill.

As much as the pundits say there wont be much experience, without playing they wont get this.

we could if picked correctly by Roy have a decent young team playing in the correct positions and could surprise a few people.

and with their ages it can very much bode well for the future.

If Roy doesn't start against Russia with Vardy and Kane up front then you deserve to go out in the group stages tbh.

When was the last time two English strikers dominated the scoring so completely in the premier league? Man's an idiot.

Chuffed for Vards. Needed a goal, should be good for Leicester too.

If last night showed me one thing it's the importance of playing with pace and two proper strikers.

The first half, I thought, was dull and let's be honest, we should have gone in two down.

And when Germany got the second goal early in the second half, if it would have been three, it would have been game over.

When we abandoned the slow, methodical build up, and just went for it, the Germans didn't know what had hit them. We went 442 and got the ball forward quickly (see City this season) and just looked so much more dangerous.

Woy. ....abandon this thing about not losing. ..let's play to start WINNING. Bring Vardy in, go to 442 and play with speed. Last night was only a friendly game, yes, but it showed the best way of utilising the players we have. The two halves last night, were as different as chalk and cheese.

Finally, even if Rooney is fit to play, don't play him. Rooney fits into the slow build up play mould. He's slow himself. He can score goals no doubt, but I'd sacrifice him as an inividual in favour of how to play as a TEAM.

Even in the 1st half, there were signs of things being better. However, the 2nd half was different gravy altogether......even Henderson looked ok by the end

Should Vardy start doing some Bisto adverts? ;)

Completely agree with this. England will get alot more people onside if were to take the 2nd half approach. Nobody wants to see the mediocre boring tempo we've been used to seeing, its gone on far too long.

The thing is, we have no wingers, but decent full backs going forward and pretty quality cm's.

It makes sense to play 4 in the middle.

Kane and vards up top, barkley and alli behind, with henderson box to box and dier sitting.

All pretty big lads, plenty of energy and creativity aswell!

Not a single mention and I don't know why I'm surprised.....

Well... Apart from Roy nicking fearless from us lol lol

We all know the level of bias in the media.

If Vardy's goal had of been scored last night by Messi it would be being hailed as another wonder goal. Technically, Vardy's goal last night was actually exceptional.
