Unabomber Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 Good. So even someone as dense as you realises theres no debate then. I'm not dense, why are you offending me on a personal level?
Donut Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 I'm not dense, why are you offending me on a personal level? Because i couldnt get my head around how absurd your opinion was. You have equated minor competitions on the same level as the Premier League title for one, two youve assumed this whole "built the platform" thing carries WAY more importance than it actually has had, and three youve completely ignored Gillies and O'Neill? Twaddle. wen donut calls someone dense The stalker cometh. Jog on to the Gary Neville thread. Melt.
AKCJ Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 . At you. You do realise that Una has your pants down here? He's clearly joking and you've fallen for it hook line and sinker.

The_77 Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 Ranieri has guaranteed us at least two more games in European competition than we had during the MON era.
AKCJ Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 im not even joking, i hope something happens to you. what did you have in mind matey?
Donut Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 what did you have in mind matey? Something immensely painful, ideally causing your death.
The Doctor Posted 6 May 2016 Posted 6 May 2016 So a manager that finished the season at the bottom is a toss up to someone who wins the Prem? Honestly, I think Leicester fans are the only ones in the world who are magnanimous enough to give credit to someone who nearly relegated their team. I'm sure Chelsea fans weren't slobbering over Ranieri when Mourinho won the Prem the following year after his sack. Daft! Utterly daft! Well he didn't though. He didn't finish bottom, he didn't get relegated and his reign was a massive success - taking us from expensive laughing stock to well drilled heroes on two separate occasions. Always amazes me that people put him down presumably because they didn't like his media handling skills, as if that was the first metric we should be judging managers on - suffice to say anyone who says Pearson wasn't a great manager for us simply doesn't get football. He's behind Ranieri obviously, but he's definitely top five in our history. Also, the last page:
dylanlegend Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 If people are saying CR is the best manager no debate why even have a thread? It's completely different these days anyway. Before you would have a manager, assistant, first team coach now you have litterally 100s of staff being the scenes advising the managerial staff. You cannot just put all our success down to one man. It terms of PR, tactical awareness, and respect he is up there.... Oh sod it best manager ever!!! Love you Claudio ;-)
americanfox Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 The posting asked for people's views. I gave a reasoned analysis of why I thought Martin O'Neill was the 'best' manager. You (and one or two other members) have chosen to disagree with me. I had no intention of being provocative - if you've seen my post as provocative then that's your problem to deal with. But the manner in which you've responded is offensive to me. You're behaving as if I've strayed into a Catholic church and shouted out that the f***ing Pope is really the Anti-Christ. I both admire and feel great affection for Claudio Ranieri. He's taken an already great team and steered them with incredible calmness, intelligence and adroitness into a position I never, ever believed could happen to my club. You've made the error of mistaking my analytical side for my emotional side. As for being in the "company of only myself" - that's fine by me. You can find assurance in knowing you're right and belong to the universality which agrees with you. For me this conversation is now over. Oh give me a break. Your analysis is hardly "reasoned" -- it's a dumb relativist argument that misses the point: winning the Premier League is hand down the/a pinnacle achievement a non-big club (edit: well, who knows what's next?) can accomplish. Ranieri won us the league -- he has won us something that we have not and likely will never win again. That's greatness and legendary exemplified. Given that no other manager we have had has accomplished this, as others acknowledge, Ranieri is our best ever manager. You're trying to sell a beat-up used car you bought yourself and have history with as better than a new Mercedes that you maybe got some help paying for, but I think most of us would rather have the Mercedes. Nice of you to try and shut down the argument. Enjoy your day, ultimately we're all winners as we've won the title! But some of us can appreciate that fact more than others, apparently. Writing down a lot of words != a legitimate argument.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 Not only has Claudio won over the whole team, but he has built a massive bond between the players; a football family no less. Head and shoulders above the rest of the pack, for this reason alone.
PhillippaT Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 winning the Premier League is hand down the pinnacle achievement a non-big club can accomplish. What about the Champions League? Or is it impossible for a small team to even enter that, so you're automatically a big club just for qualifying?
americanfox Posted 7 May 2016 Posted 7 May 2016 What about the Champions League? Or is it impossible for a small team to even enter that, so you're automatically a big club just for qualifying? Hey, I'll put a fiver on our winning the Champions League next year! But you get what I mean, even if I'm not smart enough to articulate my point that well.
