Potentially how big do you think our fanbase could be in the future?

As a big city with only one team, and with this years success, the kids of the county are finally asking their parents for LCFC shirts.

I would think, aslong relative success continues, our fanbase could be huge in the next 10/20 years. Do you think it can be bigger than the likes of Leeds/Villa/WestHam?

We're about on par with West Ham aren't we? Upton Park is only 35k remember.

Leeds is the 4th or 5th (I can never remember) biggest City in the country, it's far bigger than Leicester. Same could be applied to Villa too considering 1million people live in Birmingham.

I do think Villa are the wrong team to compare though given how successful they have been in the top flight. It'd be a dream to achieve what they have.

There's no way on earth our fanbase is bigger than West Hams.

I'd say the following clubs have a bigger fanbase than us; Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City, West Ham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Aston Villa, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday

And the following have a similar sized; Derby, Nottingham Forest, Wolves, West Brom, Norwich, Southampton, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United

I don't think there's ever a real limit. If we won the league for the next 5 years we'd fill a ground double the size of this one every week. People will flock here. I think staying in Leicestershire alone you've got a fair bit of potential (there's a million people here) and that's not to mention that there are a lot of counties around us that don't exactly have any local side pulling up any trees.

I said this on another thread.

How big roughly is the Midlands? Other Side of Birmingham to other side of Peterborough? As far north as Stoke? Far south as Northampton? Absolute huge area to attract potential new fans in the coming years..

Agree with that. Reckon when you look at our relative lack of past successes we're actually doing pretty well in terms of the number of people who support us across the country at the moment.

Be great if we managed to eradicate Leicestershire-based glory hunters entirely with a generation of kids now.

If you combine Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, the total population is over three million people. All within a two hour drive of the KP and our closest rivals in those counties are Peterborough and Northampton.

Sustained success or even a few years of upper mid-table finishes could see our fanbase skyrocket.

No where near west hams numbers I'm afraid

For me that should've always been the priority. Getting people from other Midlands counties on board is good for us although in some ways it's a bit hypocritical after the way we clearly didn't reach our potential in terms of crowds. If people from Northampton and Peterborough want to support us then fair enough but it'd be better if they supported Northampton or Peterborough if you ask me.

There's no reason why we couldn't get 40k per week but if we were to go down we'd look like the MK Dons or Arsenal each week.

That's extreme. If we went down I still think having had this particular season we'd never be only getting 20k a week again, unless we turned into a sterile shitheap like what Villa have become.

We are one win away from being champions of England. Now is not the time to fear the consequences of if we go down.

We've always had a decent fanbase in Northants. Can see why N'ampton, Kettering Town fans etc would get wound up about it but it's just a fact.

Agree with you though, there's no reason for Leicestershire kids not to support City and I'm far more arsed about that than getting kids on board from further away.

Continued success our fan base grows like a spreading pool of plastic. Back to normal LCFC performances and it's back to the usual suspects.

The plastics will bring us money so happy days, very few will become rabid foxes :)

Blackburn do well to pull in 20k lol lol,

Blackburn has a population of just over 100,000 and is situated near Manchester. You've got to consider population when doing stuff like this.

It's healthy for people to support their local teams. Like I say if people from those places want to support us then very well but it isn't like we haven't got the people here.

I always used to think to myself... we should be able to fill this place, and I was thinking that in the Championship. There's a million people in this county and there's no-one within two hours of here that's been enough of a pull to stop us. We've had it as good as nearly anyone in terms of location really.

Not enough is done to tackle glory hunting. That's the biggest damage to smaller clubs that there is.

I think there is fantastic potential for growth of the Leicester City fanbase. If we analyse our average home attendances throughout all the years at the King Power, the gates have never dropped below 20,000 as an average. That goes to show how well supported this club is, and outlines the loyalty of our fans. Again, our away numbers have always been impressive as well, in the Championship we had the 4th best away support and 3rd best home support.

Given the already good foundations of our support, I can definitely see our fan base growing really well. Success will be a key factor of course, if we win trophies, establish ourselves as a top BPL team, compete in Europe, then more fans will come year on year. Alongside the potential fan base growth, a bigger stadium is likely to happen soon, so ultimately we could be regarded as an recognized big club in years to come.

Could even be nicking fans from Tigers if we expanded and sustain relative success. I know its possible to follow both teams but they've won fvck all in the last decade or so and seem to be getting steadily more doggo. They've been supplanted as the dominating club in English rugby and Hooray Henrys love to back a winner.

Yes true, just stating how soon people can just jump ship if we fall, which is pretty god dam shit really lol

We have a bigger fanbase than Sunderland & Sheff Wed IMO.

No reason we shouldn't be competing with Everton, West Ham, Newcastle, Villa and Leeds from that list on fanbase.

Sunderland's a funny one because I see them as a bit of a bigger Derby - someone who get a pretty solid proportion of their fanbase attend regularly. I think a lot of that is down to a commitment by the club to keep crowds here, similarly to what's been done at Derby.

I do agree. I actually think we've got as much potential as most clubs in terms of fanbase. As alluded to we're bang in the middle of the country, have a county of a million people already, no big club around us (Villa are nicking anyone from here any time soon) and have quite clearly risen in stature.

You know they won the title in 2013, right? :P  Last year could have been better, sure, and they always suck in a RWC year, so we'll see if they can win it again next season ;)  I've only really become a 'proper' LCFC fan after they got promoted to the Championship, so - though I've kept an eye on the scores since Little left :P  (Was mainly more of a Tigers fan, though I'm definitely both, now!)
