Leicester City - Premier League Champions 15/16

Out of every club wishing Leicester the best Liverpool fans should be one of the less likely ones given our own failure to win it two years ago. At the time it was unprecedented in this age of petrochemical oil clubs for us to come from nowhere and fall just short. We told ourselves that well it was an outside shot anyway (albeit not a 5000/1 shot!! , Marty McFly where was that bastard Sports Almanac in August?!).

So there's been a bittersweet tinge to watching Leicester's consistent charge for the title but I lost any hint of that envy as the season went on as the lad inside me who used to read Roy of the Rovers and Shoot (still does ) took over.

It's amazing on so many levels but it's done what I didn't think was possible and reclaim the soul of football from business and on the whole sanitised bunch of 'supporters'. However temporary I'm going to enjoy it.

Yes it's a prod in the face to us but it's run roughshod though the billionaire clubs claims and gripes from the likes of Mourinho that they haven't spent enough.

This championship is worth more than all the trophies that the likes of Chelsea and City have bought and much as their fans won't admit it publicly they'll know it in their heart of hearts that this is the definitive league title to have won in the modern era.

But as I've said, us as a club aren't removed from that criticism, I barely care because this changes everything for all clubs. The three that get relegated this year are all likely to have had bigger resources than the Foxes, many bigger grounds, excuses can no longer be accepted for simply "We're not big enough".

I'm sure it won't in the end but this could help stifle the horrible short terminal that pervades the game because building a 'team' rather than buying a squad has to be the way forward. Yes you've got to be lucky with things like injuries, suspensions, beach balls etc etc but here's an exclusive for you, "EVERY TEAM THAT EVER WON THE LEAGUE HAD SOME GOOD LUCK."

It's also remarkable for another reason in that it's simplified the game back to its beautiful basics. The man derided as 'Tinkerman' has been anything but and whilst other managers get themselves into all sorts of knots endlessly rotating and reinventing players Ranieri has simply inspired and allowed them to perform at what his players do best.

And to finish with that derision point hats off to the gods of Karma for this season. A paranoid embittered Jose Mourinho took time out of what should have been a triumphant time for him to celebrate winning the league to take a pop at Ranieri just after he joined the club to bemoan his inability to talk English still. Well Claudio I can help you with your response "How'd you like them apples Jose".

Of course he won't because he's far too much of a gent and I'm certain there's shades of Bobby Robson in him for many of the Leicester players because he's so nice you'd feel like you were letting him down.

Maybe I'm being unkind maybe Jose is some form of prescient genius who saw the threat of Ranieri and all others. Kudos Jose you're almost as good as you keep telling yourself in the mirror.

There's been constant sniping of course , they're only doing it because the big clubs haven't performed, their footballs not exciting, the clappers are hypnotising the away teams...who cares? Leicester will have won the title with games to spare , with a good defence , with some great attacking talent and goals of the season (take a bow Vardy). I constantly bemoan not being a porn star because of my lack of 13 inches ..... Shit happens.

Either way this whole thing has been a triumph of the good things in the game over the bad, a footy exorcism if you will.

With the results this week re Hillsborough which show that this game has always and always should be about fun and Shankly's well meant but wrong assertion that "Football is about much more than about life and death" today gives the perfect response to getting priorities right.

The online definition of a fox is a 'cunning and sly person '. The verb is "To baffle or deceive". Well congratulations Leicester you've been doing it all year.

Leicester I salute you .... Ranieri I love you ...

Especially as one of only 3 clubs to beat you....ave it.....

Congratulations!!!!! :scarf:  It's unbelievable and it is done !!! Congratulations to the team and all the fans of the club with the same success! You co-wrote FOOTBALL HISTORY! There was a strong-willed spurt at the end of last season, and now you have left behind all the giants! Assembly and unity of command, drive for results and willingness to fight to the last second of the match, real fans who support the club and believe in it, even in the most difficult moments ... This is the true spirit of sport. Guys, I admire you !!!
I just registered to congratulate all of you (I'm from a small town Chootove (Ukraine)).Sorry for not quite correct English.
Success of the club and on the European scene!

There are billions upon billions of planets in the universe.

I happen to live on the one on which Leicester just became the Premier League Champions.

Life is beautiful today.

If the multiverse theory is correct we're on the one parallel universe crazy enough to win the prem! Somewhere else we're in league 1 battling relegation!
