GaelicFox Posted 22 June 2016 Author Posted 22 June 2016 What I don't get about MON is, isn't he Northern Irish? Don't they Irish fans mind about that. I wish I didn't have to say this He is actually an Irish passport holder and a catholic from a massive Gaa family Martin was an underage Gaa football star His whole family played for Derry He is from the north but is one of our own As is Neil Lennon ! He played for north but if south came calling he Would have played for them Martin couldn't play for south in those days but also states he would have given the chance Take note England , real desire Ahh Hank be fair the English lads try The manager is a plank
Vacamion Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 I'm sure many of us of a certain age will have many Irish friends and associates - well I certainly have. I'm generalising, but I love the Irish. They're a great bunch, always up for the craic and love a drink. I'm delighted for them. As neighbours, we have the Irish on one border and the French on another. We share a lot more of our culture and have many more ties with the Irish. Hope they beat the French.
GaelicFox Posted 22 June 2016 Author Posted 22 June 2016 Scenes !!!! What scenes !!!! Low lie the fields of athenry !!!!!
Vacamion Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Congrats Ireland. Chuffed all home countries through. Two separate sentiments, surely?

Just curious as to why really!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 I would just like to ask why many of you are supporting Ireland? No disrespect to the people of Ireland, but I doubt they would show us the same support. After the season we were underdogs it's brilliant to watch again.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 It was great to see Ireland go through...so it was..
yorkie1999 Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Reporter on sky news reckons he's never been covered by so many irishmen???
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 So it'll be England vs Rep Ireland in the Quarters! Is there any know Scots on this forum that can be called out to ask them how they're doing? Reporter on sky news reckons he's never been covered by so many irishmen??? But she loved it too!

Just curious as to why really! Football is a working class game played by social backgrounds divided by religion Rugby was a Protestant grammer school game and as such the links were always strong between north and south ! It's as simple as that The lads in north have political and social investments in the football team and we respect that

But she loved it too! I love the fact that we're through, having never got so far, but we won't be playing the French reserve team. It'd be miracle of biblical proportions to get past Kante.
foxfanazer Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Feels like the tournament finally came to life today
Hugo Sanchez Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Good to see the England B team have gone through
21st Century Fox Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Buffon is such a gent. He looked genuinely pleased when he went to congratulate O'Neill and Keane at the end.

shen Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Sorry mate, forgot not conceding goals was based on 'luck'... Well it was a siege for 90 minutes and Germany had about a dozen excellent chances, of which they would normally have converted a couple more at least. NI didn't even create a single chance did they? Not all down to luck, obivously, but if you get outplayed like that, the majority of the time you're facing a heavy defeat.
