There are nine to compare to Grimsby Fisheries on Welford Rd

None*

I once got thrown out of there because I waited an hour for my food only to be brought the wrong meal out, when I simply said "Iv waited this long and you can't even get my food right" the manager picked my food up and told me to **** off lol!

Lovely place.

Grimsbys is horrible.

I really don't get why people rave about it so much.

Was a great fish & chip shop 15/20 years ago but it's gone downhill massively from those days.

It's a bit of a trek but the best fish & chips I've tasted are from Linfords at Market Deeping. We tend to go once every six weeks or so and they're consistently excellent.

Linfords in Market Deeping.

Hear, hear.

My mum always went after meeting friends in Stamford and kept going on about how good they were. Couldn't believe how much better they were than anything else I'd tasted. The haddock is always fantastic.

I tend to rotate fish and pies, but always add a little something extra like a small plain sausage or a pineapple fritter in case I'm disappointed with my fish/pie choice.

And always; a pot of curry sauce.

PS I'm a mayo man, but that conversation is worse than brexit.

Steak and kidney pie, chips and curry sauce.

Anyone who eats saveloy, black pudding or fish, you're failing at life.

Failing at life if you get Fish from a Fish and Chip shop? lol

I was a big fan of Westcotes Chippy, well I was while it was run by the Indian man with dreamy blue eyes and his very large and very charming wife. They left all of a sudden to be replaced with a very odd set up where although seemingly being run like a normal chippy, a belligerent old woman wrote down all the orders, which took ages, and was completely ignored by both the people taking the orders and making the food. Oddly enough, it's now closed down, meaning I now have to walk another 3 minutes to Frydales, which is decent enough but noteworthy mainly because it is staffed almost exclusively by young people who have clearly been told to break with chip shop tradition by being quite friendly and helpful
