Little transparency about research, asking about seemingly irrelevant information, doesn't explain it when asked, gets arsey when given genuinely constructive feedback and generally treats participants with contempt.

Out of interest - what's the project's research aim and objectives?

We played better and/or more consistent than any other team in the league, other clubs' misfortunes was our luck and vice versa, we had a side thriving on work ethic and team work.

Just to name a few.

Job done.

(Good luck with the dissertation)

The respondents who have been polite I have been polite to back - research aims are to find out what extent the Geographical location of a club has on its success in the Premier league - I've tried to reply to explain it when asked, I'm happy to answer any more questions anyone has!

Its a very debatable topic so disagreement is natural! - Geography

Ok. That was my undergrad too. Wish I'd done sociology though. So presumably your coming from more of a human geography perspective then?

And are are you aiming to undertake a qualitative study or quantitative or a mix?

yeah its a sort of human geo-economic angle  - and as much data as I can get

5)-D Spent too many afternoons and nights in the pens in freezing cold with my mates getting hammered away from the ground and getting battered in it in the late 80's. It just becomes your little obsessive buzz about the this beautiful game, although I played almost every Saturday for 15 years.

6)-G Go back to the great escape the season before.

Sure but it'd help you to have some sort of philosophical stance on how you aim to conduct your research.

In simple terms do you want wide shallow data or narrow deep data?

Your aim is "to what extent is the success of a football team to do with its geographical location?" Right?

So that sounds more like a wide quantitative study looking at tens of clubs across the UK - a comparative study, using lots of quantitative data - almost certainly secondary.

But out what's behind that aim?

"To what extent" is a bit vague. Your answer could simply be "not a lot". If you think you've got a hypothesis (either based on a hunch or from your preliminary reading/reading) then it could be better to reframe the aim to something like:

"what is the relationship between the size of a club's local fanbase and its success?"

For example.

Also you'll need to define your terms.

Success as in - Financial? On the field? Academy, facilities, transfer spend or gains, Stadium? Short term? Long term?

fanbase as in - local, global?

Probably helps we aren't in Newcastle or Liverpool.

The total travel the team did that preseason and for away games during the season was probably fairly minimum compared to the Manchester clubs (both also in Europe). Not sure how much more/less travel Arsenal and Spurs would have done (including preseason).

It might seem not so significant, but I'm sure the sports science team were able to make it help as much as it could help.

To answer the OP's question. We won because our sports science, King Richard III, Cambiasso, Rachel Riley, and a racist orgy/Claudio... oh, and my lucky tee-shirt.

I wonder what it is you are actually researching as the current data requests are damn all to do with why we won the league.

Hey everyone, I'm researching for my dissertation which is on how Leicester won the league last season. I need some data, so If as many people as possible could answer the following questionnaire, I would be very grateful!!!

1) How many home games did you attend last season?

2) How many away games did you attend last season?

3) How long have you been a Foxes Fan?

4) How far do you live from the King Power?

A - <10miles

B - >10miles<20miles

C - >20miles<30miles

D - >30miles<40miles

E - >40miles<50miles

F - >50miles

G - >100miles

H - Outside of Britain

H - Outside of Europe

5) Why do you support the Foxes?

A – Location

B – Parents/relatives/friends

C – Style of Play

D – Other (please specify)

6) What was the main reason Leicester won the league?

A – Style of Play

B – Purchase of players

C – Choice of manager

D – Objective Intentions of the owner

E – Weakness of other teams in the league

F – Little Rotation of Squad

G – Other (please specify)

7) What would you say the value of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy are respectively?

Young man! What is your research methodology? Are you using induction (making a hypothesis and testing it out) or deduction (deducing something from your findings already)?

You look to be wanting to be gathering data but for what purpose? Your first set of questions look to gain basic data but then you make the massive jump to asking 'why did we win the league'? Are you trying to suggest the geographical location of the fanbase had something to do with our success. Just off the cuff (and I could be wrong) you seem to be looking at a particular subject too broadly?

Anyway, keep us posted as to exactly what you are looking to find and whether the research is rejecting the null hypothesis ( whatever you think that is).

Good luck I'll try to answer the questions later.

Nonsense Stripey !! ...  Leicester won the league cus I live about 9 miles away...   OK.

(If I'd have lived 10 miles away we would have finished as runners up.)

Did anyone else read the thread title and expect a 14 year old Arsenal fan piping up about how shit we are this year and how on earth did we win it?

I think you are being a little agest here. It could be one aged 8 to 60.
