Guest Lako42 Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 Vardy cannot play, through no fault of his own but we just do not play to his strengths at the moment and there is no point in continuing with him in the hope something magically happens. Mahrez plays, simple as that.

Without the key ingredient to allow them to that damage I.e. A quick turnover of possession, they either need to adapt in the same system or we need to find ways to make them as effective in an alternative system. I don't think there lack of form is simply fix by dropping them if they come back to the same handicap. I Would look to adapt the system to suit them. If that doesn't work, yes drop them but we do not have the luxury of being stubborn in our approach and not accommodating our two most influential players. I agree, ideally we need to find a way of getting this pair in the games but that means changing the system which doesn't look like it's going to happen. It simply is not working for them as things stand so let someone else show what they can do. Its difficult to see where a win is coming from without without changing the team.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 I have thought myself a rest for Mahrez and Vardy might really benefit them both, but at the same time we wouldn't want them to feel like they're being dropped. Ultimately it would be down to how they both react individually, if they weren't in the team.
m4DD0gg Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 To say drop them because they are tired is an odd one as neither have done feck all this season.
Slim Dog Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 Bad wording I suppose. I'd just rather have an out of form Mahrez on the pitch.

They are not putting in a shift at the moment so they should actually be dropped - and know the reason why. No one should be guaranteed a place in a side if they don´ perform - and neither Mahreez nor Vardy do...
FireFox Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 Drop Vardy, yes. Easy decision. Teams aren't letting him get service. Plus no Drinky, so none of their understanding. But not Mahrez. I can't understand why people would want Mahrez dropped. He hasn't been great, but that's not his fault imo. He hasn't had the service or support, change the formation or other players and he'll do fine.

I'd like to see Albrighton and Fuchs whipping balls into him, whilst getting back to defend when they need to. - I think Drinky needs Mendy & Amartey either side of him to free him up & allow him to be the playmaker he needs to be. - Okazaki will drop deep when he needs to, to offer more support to the midfield. Musa, Gray, James, Vardy, Mahrez, Chilwell & Zieler No pace in this team though. Perhaps with 3 in midfield could afford to swap Okazaki for Musa or Gray. Edit: Maybe Schlupp instead of Fuchs? Reprises his role in the great escape.
crazyleicester Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 Vardy IMO has done little wrong. He was getting put through by Oka, Mahrez and DD plenty last season but apart from the season opener at Hull I cant remember that many times he has been put through. On the odd occasion he has been put through he has won penos or even set up some chances. Dropping him or Mahrez wont give them the main thing they lack from last season, confidence! They need to play themselves into form. Get them in and get them earning their keep!!

Countless times this season that me and the old man have commented that "he would have scored that last season".
Leamington Fox Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 Why on earth would anyone drop Mahrez, probably the most skilful player every to have pulled on the shirt and not particularly out of form? He's just getting marked by two or three men when he gets the ball. Where else is our creativity going to come from? If Mahrez needs a rest, perhaps we should give him the Porto game off. If he doesn't need a rest, he is in my starting XI without question. Presently, I would put Vardy on the bench and start with Slimani. I would not have expected to say that at the start of the season, but Vardy is so far off the pace and his best at the moment. He's barely had more than a handful of shots on target all season. Slimani scores goals.

Gray could definitely do that No.10 role and I'd like to see Schlupp feature, it's just his crossing isn't great. But he'd definitely be up and down quicker than Fuchs. I think the 352 just offers us better options and is far more flexible than the rigid, predictable 442.
justfoxes Posted 29 November 2016 Author Posted 29 November 2016 Don't know about dropping them but resting them from a starting place, I was listening to someone who thinks we should utilise a 3-2-3-2 and utilise gray and Hernandez as wingbacks instead of a boring 4-4-2 ? at the min whilst our Viking is injured and Drinkwater is suspended ! Zieler Huth Morgan. Fuchs Hernandez Gray Mendy King. Musa Okazaki Slimani subs Vardy Mahrez Ulloa Albrighton James Simpson Hamer ? Bit of a different formation for us but gives us depth on the wings still able to play the hitting on the break play the ball more tho feet rather than hoofing the ball up field ??? something needs doing as people have said we've been found out or the other teams give us this extra 10% as we're champions, well most don't subscribe to that it's a case of we're far to busy hoofing the ball to Vardy and he's being beaten to the ball more than last season he actually looks knackered at times earlier in the game rest him for a while bring him on later in the game build his confidence back! And as for Claudio getting Sacked don't be so fooking pathetic what a fookingbstupid statement to make ! ONWARDS AND UPWARDS AND IN CLAUDIO WE STILL TRUST !!
Matt_Lcfc Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 Drop Mahrez. Getting sick of his clueless, not giving a sh*t performances. Said this a lot about Mahrez last season but he came back with a bang, but he's been found out this season. Double on his side and he's out of the game? Just sick of his attitude, anyone else feeling the same?
Fox92 Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 We rely too much on Mahrez and Drinkwater to create chances. Mahrez frustrates me when he takes on one player too many, but it seems as if the players give the ball to Mahrez and expect him to come up with something. If anything, he needs to know when to pass for me. He beats two players - for example - and instead of releasing the ball he'll try and take another on and he'll lose the ball. I don't mind it once a match but 90% of the time is frustrating to watch. We haven't been creating any chances recently but if we drop Mahrez then all hope will be gone for me. We should drop Albrighton and bring in Gray or Musa IMO - a type of player who will run at defenders - might take the pressure off Mahrez a bit.
Guest Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 If we drop Mahrez and Kaputska and Gray are 'not ready' who else do we play ?

Theres no denying he's a quality player, but he's nowhere near as good as a lot of people think he is, because when it does come off (like you said, maybe 10% of the time at best) it looks good.

At this stage what harm is there dropping the likes of Mahrez, or giving someone else some game time. If it doesn't work...well we would have probably lost the game anyway.
ZeGuy Posted 30 November 2016 Posted 30 November 2016 I actually would love to. So we can move on to the next scapegoat in a few games.
