Guest CityFan 06 Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Starting to feel more optimistic about this season given our recent pick up in form. The changes in formation have made a profound effect, we've sured up defensively with that extra man in the midfield and we are utilising our players better, positionally. It leads me to think how we might start to push on in the second half of the season. Do you think we will?
Fox92 Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Depends on which side turns up. I've seen more poor performances than good performances this season. Our away performances have been absolutely pathetic.
crazyleicester Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Our season is yet to start. We have seen glimpses of last seasons form (Man City) and last seasons fighting spirit (Everton yesterday) but overall we have had so many things go against us from sending offs to injuries. We now have Mendy fit, Kasper and Danny fit and added Ndidi and even James may be close to a return to first team action or at least for selection. Chilwell and Gray have had half a season in amongst the first team so will be better for it and the pre-season signings have had half a season to blend in with the bets mates club of last season. Optimistic, you betcha!!!
Ted Maul Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 The poor performances are becoming less frequent, we've now got some good options in midfield and Claudio has shown a willingness to change things when required- I think we'll be moving up the table over the coming months. Might take a few games though, given the run of fixtures we have coming up.
Guest Danny Clender Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 From today until May, I am very excited. It looks good. Add in the new CB and we will be top 7 + Champo's league and FA Cup Darlings. It's on...
whetstonefox Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Probably slightly optimistic but I'd be targeting 7th place, obviously progress in CL and FA Cup may impede that, I just us to get a few results to ensure we won't be dragged into any relegation battle and then enjoy being reigning champions again
TheSomersetFox Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 We really need to kick on this half of the season, do that and we become an attractive choice for players in the Summer again.
fuchsntf Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Some good results of late, but before I start jumping for joy, I want to see team matchday consistency. Chelsea next, so performances now become important. This season I have not gone through the fixture list, looking to see where we can or should pick up points. We still need to show patience and integrity towards the players. If progress is to be seen it wont be overnight, but nervy , where the table position will seem to hang. If we can get points, and draw away from bottom 4, before CL starts up again that would do me. Nice to get to Sevilla not worrying, what the following weekend will bring and fans stressing themselves out.. Also would be great, not to be depending, only welcoming the AFCON players back as sweetners, not needing.
StanSP Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 let's not jump the gun too early. I'm as happy as the next person that we've got a little run together and progressed in the cup, improved defensively and seem to have a bit of confidence about us. But we still have a very challenging run of fixtures coming up - Chelsea, Man Utd, Southampton and Liverpool within our next 6 fixtures I think. The positive thing is we seemed to have found a different tactic to use, somewhat successfully, aside from 4-4-2. Ndidi had a great debut and I hope that he and Mendy and Drinkwater can form some great partnerships and stay fit. If we can come away from those fixtures and be about 10th-12th we can hope to kick on even further. It's a huge task though plus there's the 4th round FA Cup game too. Progress in that can only help our side's confidence and momentum whoever we play.
Chico1958 Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Let's not get ahead of ourselves Many in here can turn on a sixpence (remember them) I'll hold out until 20:00hrs on Saturday................. That will be the real barometer to judge where we really stand in the great scheme of things
Stevosevic Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 Lets see after the next 3 games. A tough home game and 2 away games to judge whether we really have turned a corner.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 I really think it could be our year to get far in the cup. Just a feeling. I seriously hope we pick up in the league. Can't be looking over shoulders all the time
foxfanazer Posted 8 January 2017 Posted 8 January 2017 It's all a bit stop start at the moment. We've been unable to string a sequence of decent results together and until we do so it's all about consolidation for me this season. Would love a good FA cup run and for some European magic
foxy boxing Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 I really hope we can push on(up thge league) and progress in the F.a cup and there is no reason why we can't. we have a decent squad which were champions last season and have done well in Europe this season.we need to maintain form and fitness not just till the end of the season but for next season as well where i would like us to push on evan further
