Guest MattP Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Miliband as ever, totally detached from reality, refusing to accept the importance of the immigration his party's foisted on us as the reason for discontent but trying to blame the Tories in his lame attempt at a party political broadcast on behalf of his vote importing "wide open gates for Britain" party. It was embarrassing wasn't it? They are in a total state of delusion. That now must be the 5th time after some sort of election he's come into television and told us the voters are giving them a message and they will have to do something about it. Maybe something as big as this tonight and they actually might do something instead of a flow of empty words time after time after time after time. Maybe, maybe not. Massively cynical ploy if that explains his low profile (always a possibility). A lot will depend on what stance UKIP adopts after the referendum in that case. Play their cards right and they could mop up Labour votes in England like the SNP did in Scotland.... Well if they can't after this they never will.
GaelicFox Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 UKIP Will become the Tory right wing sect !!! If we leave
apple987 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 This is literally all down to Farage. Amazing. He must be so proud.
Innovindil Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 I think the most entertaining part of watching the results come in is I'm learning about towns I never even knew existed
SMX11 Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 Farage needs to bow out after this and let someone like Steven Woolfe take the helm. Northern, professional and articulate could potentially be a force in the old Labour heartlands. The problem is that Farage is an autocrat.
Jattdogg Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 I'll be there at 2:15pm ET, ssh. If your flying to toronto (pearson which is actually in mississauga) i work in an office building along one of the runways across the 401 highway. Get to see all the planes land which is cool. I will look out for the plane. What airline you flying in on? Was it Bellend air?
Jattdogg Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 Interested to see how leicester votes. Is general consensus in Leicester to stay? Never saw any of the local polls
Thracian Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 So far I think it shows a real disconnect with Labour base and their leadership. Labour may be forced to a more negative EU position to not get stomped in 2020. I'd much rather they wound themselves up and a new party genuinely representative of British interests and British people was formed. Labour always gives the impression of despising many aspects of our society and its people and of only ever wanting to govern for part of our population in any case. It was Labour who went along with Blair's deceiving the nation about immigration and now they're so fast-falling into the grip of incomers - and therefore incomer interests - they are no longer trusted by many. It hasn't helped either that they've allowed or too-often turned a blind eye to so many shameful goings-on in places where they have council power.

I have always found Peter Hitchens analysis of the two parties quite interesting. Labour has a identity crisis and has Hitchens says the Conservatives have turned into New Labour for the most part and Labour don't know what to do. Both parties could be in store for a real shake up! A good thing to happen no matter of the result.
Wycombe Fox Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 79430 votes cast on the Isle of Wight (72.3% turnout). Initial reports from the count indicate 2 votes to Leave for every Remain vote so about 52953 for Leave, 26477 to Remain.
SMX11 Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 The establishment really is in a panic. Got a statement from the White House now!
apple987 Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 Kettering has a lot of immigrants. The Midlands will all vote out due to the amount of EU immigrants
Harry - LCFC Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 I've always thought that the media were under-estimating how well Leave would do in Labour-voting areas, particularly areas where a lot of people are struggling: e.g. Sunderland Likewise, they may have over-estimated how well Leave would do in prosperous Tory seats in the SE. I'd expect Leave to do well in less well-off seats in the South (Tory or Labour), but not necessarily in parts of the Home Counties where the Tories have loads of safe seats. Massive variations by geographical area, socioeconomic standing - and age is my expectation. On that last point, the suggestion that the elderly have voted in much larger numbers than the young sounds like good news for Leave and bad news for Remain. Again, no surprise, though: 78% of those aged 65+ voted at the general election, but only 42% of under-25s. I reckon we're somewhere between "too close to call" and a very narrow Leave win at the moment.... #dividednation Indeed. It's become clear from the results we've seen tonight that the cultural divide in this referendum is wider than it appeared. Here's a decentish graph that sums up some of the differences.
SMX11 Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 Just heard that the turn out in London isn't great. Lower than the rest on England apparently.
GaelicFox Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 It's obvious that this vote is a vote on immigration Just heard that the turn out in London isn't great. Lower than the rest on England apparently. Rain and floods all day

apple987 Posted 24 June 2016 Posted 24 June 2016 How long before cameron wakes up and intervenes somehow the crook

My friend at the Leicester count says it's far closer than expected, still remain but nowhere near as big as she thought.

So basically all the uneducated people and all the easily-scared-by-lies-about-johnny-foreigner old people are what's going to take this country back to the 3rd world. Called it.
