An owner with great ambition and a squad that has shown far higher than their station. Erm... Man City circa pre Abu Dhabi takeover? Chelsea pre Ken Bates ownership? Liverpool pre Shankly? Arsenal pre Wenger? Spurs pre Levy and Pochetino? its the same with Algerian fans. Who the **** are can anyone tell me Marc Albrighton is shit when you have ****ing Guiediora and Bentaleb sitting next to Mahrez. It's a joke. Im sorry but playing next to for example Wijnaldum or Fernandinho will bring out the best of him. Come on. Dont judge Leicester when your own achievements are not on par with the Reals, the Barca's, the Milans etc. Leicester have to sell this ambition to Mahrez but pretending that Albrightons deliver to Shinji yesterday and that finish was standard is as ridiculous as pretending Mahrez is not a special talent. Mahrez is and his team mates allow him to do so. Just ask Danny Simpson and every other defender in a five a side team who play with their mate with the spiked up hair and shiny yellow shoes. His great but boy is it hard. Everything achieved is team based end of. Actually Bentaleb is really good, one of the best upcoming CMs. To be fair we also have Boudebouz who has the most passes in the upper third in ligue 1. Anyway one things for sure : Bentaleb > Drinkwater. I have also never seen an Algerian on here claiming that Albrighton was shit.

Dickov22 Posted 15 May 2017 Posted 15 May 2017 Shame some of our own fans can't see how good Mahrez is.

Too used to see work horses and can only judge a player based on the acres he plowed through the field. The lack of footballistic culture und beautiful game's understanding of some is frightening. And somewhat sad. It's like going to a movie and not getting half of the story.
filbertway Posted 15 May 2017 Posted 15 May 2017 Has anyone put together Riyad's highlights for the City game? I genuinely can't remember much he did aside from an outrageous first touch in the first half and winning the pen. I mean he must have done more that, I'm just struggling to remember.

He and King basically made the move that led to our goal, and he and Shinji were similarly involved in the move which Albrighton spurned at the start of the second half. So basically he was involved in the most potent moves we produced, besides winning the penalty.

Thanks for bringing that back haha.

"You cannot high press them because Schmeichel has an amazing pass, for that reason. You cannot pass and put the ball to the full-back; or, the striker -- because of Okazaki/Slimani, and Mahrez -- it is so difficult to control that." This will become funny the day you learn to speak Spanish flawlessly

I'm well aware of how good he is, and how much we'll miss him, but we've had about 50% of a player this year as he's had his head turned - risk of this affecting the rest of the squad. Clearly he wants to leave and I think we're better off getting rid.

I'm the worst for it btw, I think I'm guilty of expecting him to turn it on every time he receives the ball given his ability, which is unrealistic. If we can get a good fee (which given his contract and our financial position is really to be expected) then I think all parties will be satisfied. I really hope Gray can step up.

You could make the same accusation against King who also looks a bit flimsy and half arsed most the time. He may want to leave, but suggesting he is not performing for the team is well out of order IMO. He's being a bit selfish from time to time and trying to do too much himself but that's a result of the pressure he puts on himself to do better and also the way he has been from day one. In terms of effort he is trying just as much as anyone else. You just notice his failures more than other players because he is the flair player who is meant to try and take people on, create space, set people up and score. It's not exactly easy trying to do that with as little of the ball as we get.

Aside from knowing his agents were actively courting a move in the summer, his interview was pretty clear to me - I wanted to move last summer and we'll see what happens this summer. He didn't say either of those things last summer. Claudio also asked him for one more year. On the effort argument, it's fairly noticeable he's upped his game in the UCL and just before the end of the season. I don't have a problem with him wanting to move on, he clearly wants to play at the top level and the longer we deny that from him the less we'll get out of him.
CosbehFox Posted 15 May 2017 Posted 15 May 2017 Whilst I'm not quite on the same page as Abrasive, however he has a point about Mahrez. I love the lad. However his pre match interview on Saturday will not go down with other members of the squad who a) want his place in the starting eleven and b) who believe we can still perform well.
Dickov22 Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 I see a lot of Leicester fans hammering Mahrez on twitter 'his head's been turned. He wants to go' etc etc. Who can blame him for wanting to leave and make the best of his talent? He's given us four seasons. He's hardly Ngolo Kante, leaving the first chance he got. Mahrez deserves to play in the champions league and is soon approaching the peak of his career. Good luck to him wherever he goes. It's been a pleasure to watch him. Best Leicester player ever.

So if yanited don't win the Europa and he goes there or Arsenal, he's gone to play champions league ???? he's leaving cos we are 'little leicester' and he doesn't want to spend most of his efforts during a game chasing after the ball. (Plus the millions in extra wages etc he will get which is the primary reason)

(Plus the millions in extra wages etc he will get which is the primary reason) But the difference here is that he feels that even if he goes to United or Arsenal he has a better chance of Champions League football. Historically (more than the last 2 years) these clubs have been more involved in Europe than we have, they have a bigger infrastructure and fan base no matter which way you look at it. If your not from Leicester then it's no boys dream to play from them is it? (I do hope in a few years time that will change) Riyads strengths are when he has the ball, he obviously doesn't enjoy the defending part of the game, so therefore he knows at one of the "bigger" clubs they are more about possessional football and he will possibly do better there. From his interview he also mentioned that this season he's doubled or tripled up against, with a "bigger" team you have more "dangerous" players so less likely for that to happen. All in all his been fantastic and probably one of our greatest ever players, based on pure talent. If he does then we should thank him for his time at the club and wish him well. He deserves the chance to test himself alongside the big boys.
