themightyfin Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Sky bet have 4 possible Leicester players in the betting to make the 2018 World Cup squad. Vardy 1/3 Drinky 7/1 Gray 8/1 Chilwell 10/1 Albrighton should also be on that list I think. How long ago is it that we could even think about having 3-4 players in the England squad? Im not saying they will all get in but Vardy looks a cert if he has a half decent season Drinky has a shout if he gets back to his best And Gray and Chilwell who knows how far they can go? Both could have great seasons if they get games from the start.
Riot Van Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 And we are the ones that need to develop these talents. Start Gray and Chilwell (less so) and make them into internationals. I don't want us to bring in someone over seas at the detriment to our national team.

boots60 Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Joey Mattock not in there? He was supposed to go on & play for England.
Blue ROI Posted 31 May 2017 Posted 31 May 2017 Was Euro 2016 Leicesters biggest representation at a major international tournament? Vardy King Kante Fuchs

The popular opinion on here is that Gray isn't good enough to be a first teamer. That may be true but no one can deny he has the potential. The best way for him to learn and improve is for him to get an extended run in the team. If he makes a few mistakes, it's not the end of the world. We look at Southampton with the likes of Shaw and Ward-Prowse and ask why don't we have young players at that level. The reason is they're trusted and given a chance to get experience under their belt. They definitely didn't come out of the youth team at that level.

Sure, maybe we can get better from somewhere, but I want to see us turn him into the player that we could have bought.

Also the club's reputation for developing talent will have an effect on future recruitment. If you're a talented young prospect who would you trust your career development to, Leicester or Southampton?
