I (and about 99% of the OHL fans) think it's the right decision. We start prepering for the 2nd leg of the final and the new season on Monday 15th, so the timing makes sense. We (the fans) expect the new manager within a few days.

When Euvard and Vercauteren took over, we had the perfect situation. A young, energetic guy who could work alongside a very experienced manager and learn the ropes. When Vercauteren left we were stuck with an inexperienced manager who simply wasn't ready to manage a team at this level. Apperently the board and King Power wanted to hire an experienced manager and keep Euvrard on as an assistent/apprentice, but Euvrard didn't want that.

I'll give you the numbers:

Vercauteren/Euvrard in 2019/2020: 8 games, 6 wins/1 draw/1 loss, 19 out of 24 points (79,2%)

Euvrard in 2019/2020: 23 games, 8 wins/4 draws/11 losses, 27 out of 63 points (42,9%)

Any thoughts on replacements?

Obviously top dabbled with the idea of an English manager once then seemed to realise his mistake and go for an experienced local option.

Is there anyone available of that ilk? Anyone from the top division he could persuade to move down?

I have no idea who will replace Euvrard.

In my opinion we should go "local". Either a Belgian manager or someone who has already managed a Belgian team and who knows Belgian football.

There are some interesting guys available at the moment, so hopefully we can sign one of them.

Just to make some things clear, the decision to have new signings play in the (as of yet still to be held) second leg of the final, like Bonanza stated a few days ago, has since been overturned by FIFA after Beerschot filed a complaint.

That means, for the time being and if nothing else changes, we are effectively being punished for finishing higher in the overall rankings than Beerschot. Since the concept dictates, that the team finishing higher in the overall rankings gets the "advantage" of playing the second leg of the final at home. In our case, that means, a home game without a crowd. While Beerschot was able to take a 1-0 lead in the first leg of the final, in a sold-out arena. In the meantime, due to all the chaos and uncertainty regarding corona and the lockdown in combination with sports and what the government and the Belgian football association would decide, we have 14 players out of a contract, including all our goalkeepers. Our first goalkeeper already signed for another club.

We do have the advantage of being able to attract a new manager. Euvrard actually managed to rival Pearson in sucking. Pearson managed 30% last year, Euvrard managed 42% this year, but he also had a substantially better squad and a better forward (though that was Pearson's own doing, with Hirst). As i stated before, the club should have kicked Euvrard out as soon as Vercauteren left. We never asked for Euvrard, he was simply a package deal with Vercauteren, there was no reason to keep him when Vercauteren left, because Euvrard was just his puppet on the field. The club should have seen the writing on the wall, especially when things spiraled downwards fast, the moment he took over when his mentor had left.

But they will need to attract a manager that can get the squad ready for one crucial game, and they'll still need to figure out how to put 11 players on the pitch. They will be forced to extend some player contracts they otherwise wouldn't want to extend. Betting on a change of format, with 18 teams in first division, seems very risky. That possibility is certainly still in the cards, but far from a sure thing. I think the new manager should be able to do his job with all the players he thinks he needs, without having to think about some of them leaving or not giving their all. In the meanwhile, the club should try to make sure we can go up without having to play that second leg, since it would be completely unfair to us, for reasons stated above. But the manager and players need to be able to do their jobs, without any such burdens on their mind, and focus on the game at hand.

We have a new manager. Marc Brys just signed a 2-year deal with our club.

Our club's statement:

OH Leuven is proud to present Marc Brys as our new manager. The 58-year-old coach is tried and tested in Belgian football and signed a two-season contract with OH Leuven. He will prepare the team for the final to be played on August 2.

Brys brings tons of experience that he gained at, among others, Beerschot, KV Mechelen and recently Sint-Truiden. He also has a lot of international experience after working in Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands.

He immediately starts preparing for the important return game of the final on August 2. Everyone is keen to take the next step in the development of the club and to promote to the Jupiler Pro League.

OH Leuven coach Marc Brys: “I am honored to work for this beautiful and ambitious club. I am motivated and can't wait to help the club realize its ambitions. ”

OH Leuven chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha: “We are convinced that Marc has the qualities and experience to realize our ambitions and objectives. We are happy that he wants to take up this challenge. ” "This proves that he believes in the club's long-term project and we will give Marc every opportunity to succeed. We are happy to have Marc on board and we are sure he will be warmly welcomed by the OHL- fans. ”

Oh my that away kit 😍 much better than last season @Bonanza

I agree, although I have to say last year's away kit grew on my as the season went on.

Think the King Power on the home kit would look better if it was red rather than blue. I like it, looks like it would make a good Iran kit too.

To be fair, I don't mind the blue logo. If I had to change 1 thing, I would change the red stripes into black.

I hope that the models are fans and not players.

Clearly an attempt to throw off our rival. Either they panic, as they realize they did not scout these dashing young go-getters. Or they lower their guard, underestimating our squad by the sight of these coach patatoes. Either way, we are getting in their heads. The final is all but won at this point.

I see the Captain is playing silly buggers over his contract.

Good riddance!!!!! He was by far our worst player last season, maybe even the last 2 seasons. We never understood why he was named captain in the first place. The club shouldn't give him a long-term contract just to play 1 game.

This was expected when the league said we couldn't select new players for the return of the final. They came up with the rule that we could resign players for 1 month. 14 of our 25 players are out of contract since July 1st. Most of them won't get a new contract for next season, but we still need enough players to play in the return of the final on August 2nd. This whole situation is so messed up for both our club and the players.

There still is a very small chance we can go up automatically as the league might still decide our 1st divison will go from 16 teams to 18. This would mean Waasland-Beveren doesn't drop down and both OHL and Beerschot get to go up. I will spare you the details, but there have been a lot of discussions and lawsuits in the last couple of weeks. We'll know for sure on July 7th.

The League has just confirmed that the 1st division will consist of 16 teams. This means Waasland-Beveren will drop down to the 2nd division and OHL and Beerschot will have to play the return of the final on August 2nd. The new season starts 1 week later on August 7th

There have been some changes in the league's format. The 2nd division will still consists of 8 teams that play each other 4 times, but the  period system is gone. At the end of the season the team that is in 1st place will be crowned champion and wins automatical promotion to the 1st division. The team that finishes 2nd will play a home-and-away game against the team that finishes 15th in the 1st division for the last remaining spot.

Noticed you’ve been playing friendlies - oddly for some clubs in preparation of next season

We started pre-season training about 4 weeks ago and played our first two friendlies last week. We won 4-0 to Bierbeek (a local non-league team) but lost 4-1 last Saterday against Belgian champion Club Brugge.

The lads left for training camp in The Netherlands this afternoon and will return to Leuven on Saterday. Apparently we will play 2 friendlies against Standard Liège during training camp.
