The OH Leuven Thread

If we can believe the tweet below OH Leuven will loan Kawin Thamsatchanan out to Japanese club Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo for two seasons. Good deal for all parties imho, he's not getting any playing time, lost his place ijn the national team and has an expensive contract...

Surprised he's not played this season, as imo the other two keepers aren't great.

He really isn't any better, all three have their good and bad days. Was surprised Henkinet got replaced by Keet mid-season, but I never saw Thamsatchanan get back in the team except in case of injuries. Youngster Oregan Ravet will now probably become third goalie, good for him.

I am one of the lucky 75 currently in Leuven and what an absolute blast it has been. The Leuven fans friendliness and hospitality has been second to none, and it is an absolutely beautiful city. Will definitely be back especially for the Stella, Leffe and Hoegaarden beer which is brewed here.

It is a relatively a little known tourist destination, known for its Universities. A small quiet city.

So far both Dover and Calais are shut and we may even have to spend a night somewhere near Calais tonight if they don't redirect us to the Eurotunnel !!

So what's the update then?

Ha posted at same time.

Great game by the lads tonight! Well deserved win. Looks like we are slowly but surely coming back to form.

Highlights:

6-minute version:

https://www.proximus-sports.be/nl/voetbal/proximus-league/video/27787/samenvatting-oh-leuven-lommel-sk

Great match, Lommel never in it really. But what's more important, both Beerschot and Virton only drew, while Westerlo had their match postponed due to the storm. That puts OH Leuven in first place in the second period, tied on points with Beerschot and Virton but ahead on number of matches won.

If the current standings were final, then the following would happen:

  • Division 1B Promotional Playoffs: not held. OH Leuven win both period 1 and period 2, are automatically declared champions and get promoted!

  • Playoff 2 (Europa League Playoffs): OH Leuven, Virton, Westerlo, Union SG, Beerschot and Lommel qualify by virtue of finishing top 6 overall (period 1 + period 2). Virtual groups:
    •  group A: Zulte Waregem, Oostende, Waasland-Beveren, Lommel
    •  group B: Mechelen, Eupen, Cercle Brugge, Beerschot
    •  group C: Anderlecht, Kortrijk, OH Leuven, Union SG
    •  group D: Sint-Truiden, Excel Mouscron, Virton, Westerlo
    •  4 group winners play home & away semi finals (A vs C & B vs D) and final with highest league finisher always hosting the return match. Final winner plays 4th place finisher of playoff 1 (or 5th in case one of top four wins the cup, in this case if Antwerp or Club Brugge win the cup and finish top 4) for final European ticket in single match at stadium of highest league finisher = PO1 team.

  • Playoff 3 (Relegation Playoffs): bottom two teams in the overall 1B standings, Roeselare and Lokeren, take part in a best-of-five playoff. As Roeselare (23pts) finished ahead of Lokeren (19pts + one match in hand), they start with home advantage and receive a three point head start.
