Almost guaranteed top ten next year ?

Recommended Posts

Was hoping for the addition of some players who are capable of changing up our style and improving ball retention. Maguire is capable as he's comfortable on the ball. Iborra it remains to be seen if he'll even start, if he does then hopefully he's better at keeping the ball then some of our others. Iheanacho would hopefully be a step up in technique from Okazaki and Slimani. Would still like someone who can actually pass at right back. If they work out then top 10 is well within our capibilites.

Utter crap.

We could just as easily be 17th as 7th.

No one has the faintest clue. What do the bookies say out of interest?

If we get Ineatacho then we are guaranteed goals with him and Vardy up top and we all know goals get you points, if the defence can tighten up then we should have another memorable season.

Top ten should be doable, maybe we can surprise a few again really depends on who we manage to bring in and keep hold off.

I think we will see more of a passing style this time around, Shakey aint daft and will know the long ball to Vardy is not going to cut it as we found out last season.

We can't even guarantee we'll start the season with Shakespeare as manager. Anything can happen in football and it seems to happen to LCFC a lot.

Davie - I thought I was glass half empty lol

I think that is probably about the only thing I would bet on but I do take the scepticism about how long he may keep the post for!!

A big 6 weeks ahead of us and I am more worried about the insight I have had on exits tbh

We are not guaranteed goals, we are more likely to score goals but by no means guaranteed.

If a striker was guaranteed to score then he would be the most expensive striker in the world.

As has been said , nothing in football is guaranteed.

Cheers. Wonder how they arrive at those odds? Must be based on current squads I guess.

Been there seen it all, half empty is optimistic at it's greatest for me. Been let down too many times.

I still can't  believe we won the league especially after last season's fiasco.

I think we'll find the mid-to-bottom half of the table this year is VERY tight for a lot of the season - with teams like WBA, Stoke, Southampton, West Ham etc, if Shakey can re-invigorate that attitude and desire to go out and try to win every game like the champions season i think top 10 is a certainty - and we could be anywhere in that. We'll need a good start though against a tricky run of fixtures in order to not fall into that second/third pack of teams in the league.

There is an outside chance at a sequel title-run (not saying we're going to win the league, not that daft) but like i've said in other threads there are a few issues at the clubs above us that still need sorting/resolving - and if they don't we could see them all struggle a bit more - and then it will be to our advantage to be playing a few of them early doors and getting them out of the way.

I fancy Brighton and Huddersfield to surprise everyone, one might end up going down but i'm sure both won't (Huddersfield my gut is saying are going to finish surprisingly well - thinking Wigan-esque in that) - and i fancy Crystal Palace as outside/surprise relegation candidates, Swansea still looking a bit unsure of themselves as well.

I'm really up for this season though, always gotta look at your opponents and we're in decent shape, some of them haven't even got close to finalising their squads/transfers yet, at least we are well underway and have the majority of the group still together from the last few years, we're not going to need lots of time to gel. :scarf:

There are some very mediocre sides in the division but take Mahrez out of our side and it probably doesn't strike mass fear into other sides either. We all know Ndidi and Vardy and a few others are class on their day, but you could say the same for Shakiri or Zaha or Benteke etc.

This! Although I wouldn't put Benteke in same league as Vardy, although as we saw last season Vardy can go an age without scoring if the team doesn't play it exactly as he needs

Away from Mahrez... We're ummm industrious....  I don't see us being able to break teams down or grab something out of nothing to turn a game on its head, we can barely hold on to the ball

I hear what you are saying and I think that if they are paired up next season they will get a hatfull but as I said not guaranteed.

Yes I understand over the years so many highs and lows.

However last season was a fiasco in terms of transfers and prem - missed opportunity to take the club two big steps forward but it was still memorable in terms of CL and probably the best European experience in the clubs history.

I believe in the owners (better than Shipman and Mandy) and SW but like you share some concerns as it is probably looking like we may lose a prize backbone to the last 5-6 years and Shakey has a lot to do - hopefully we will be surprised although I share your feeling to expect the worst!

Yea I agree its not guaranteed but I feel those two together could do some serious damage, it will definitely give us more of a threat and better goal ratio than with say an Okazaki or Slimani up there granted Slim could also do a job but Okazakis goal rate is awful

Newcastle will not go down if Rafa stays

They will. Their team is awful & struggle to win at SJP. They had the the 6th best home record but the best away. Can't see them winning away too many times & some personalities in that team can't seem to play and perform Infront of 52,000 Geordies.

If Rafa commits and stays then i don't believe so .....he maybe gone before the end of August but if he is backed he will make them competitive

Bit harsh to compare Vardy to those players, he is far more consistent. He's one of the best strikers in the league without question, Benteke isn't anywhere near. We'll see about N'didi, at his age there should be so much more to come from him. Gray likewise if we start giving him a chance.

Awful thread title but with the squad we've got, with or without Mahrez, and if we can get the transfers right (Iheanacho plus a good attacking midfielder and I'd be fairly happy) then top 10 should be the minimum target.

We were crap for most of last season and yet one more goal against Bournemouth and we would have been in the top half instead of them.

If the manager gets the tactics and selection right (a big if at this point admittedly) then we will finish in the top 10.

Personally agree with you re: Vardy, but I'm thinking from other fan's perspective. He did go about 3 months without a shot on goal last season and without Mahrez and a significantly improved Drinkwater he isn't getting any service soon.

Can i also add that I forgot Kasper in my initial post.

In talks with a couple of jugglers from a Midlands circus, I gather. :scarf::scarf:

Mostly just a function of what bets have already been placed I'd think

To be honest in Leicester's current state we would probably finish 8th, but our defence is ageing so unless we start signing young defenders that can be an understudy for Huth and Simpson and eventually replace them, the 17/18 season could be a lot worse. If we sign iheanacho, a creative midfielder and another defender we could push for a Europa league qualification spot.
